What I learned doing this assignment…..Sequence of Titles Tells A Story. I never considered that as part of a marketing strategy for the Pitch Bible. Here are the Episode Titles I have so far:

    Title: Killer Job

Logline: Thirteen candidates compete for an enigmatic corporate job at a remote desert location but when one of them is found dead, everybody has something to hide, nobody is who they say they are and a half-million annual is at stake!

    Episode 1.3: Hidden Room

I learned from this assignment that coming at titles from all different angles, and just inventing so many choices, really works on targeting riveting titles. I also didn’t know about the importance of sequencing the titles so they told a story.

Episode 1: A Meeting of the Minds

Episode 2: Evidence of a Delusion

    Episode 3: The Midas Touch

Episode 4: Not Our Finest Moment

Episode 5: Beware the Siren’s Call

    Episode 6: The Clean Up

    Episode 7: Playing with Fire

Episode 8: Thirty Pieces of Silver

Episode 9: Proof is Only a Direction

    Episode 10: Killing Ain’t Easy

What I learned from doing this assignment, which I kinda already knew, is that I suck at coming up with great titles. 🙂

    1.1 Harmful Intent

    1.2 Her Most Sacred Secret

    1.3 Speak No Evil

    1.4 Trial and Error

    1.5 Hear No Evil

    1.6 Come to Her Defense

    1.7 Soul to Soul

    1.8 Off the Radar

    1.9 See No Evil

    1.10 New Threat

I am still working on these. I think better ones will pop in my head the more I tweak my episode synopses. Crossing fingers.

I learned a good way to come up with interesting and relevant titles. In the past, I’ve unknowingly used some of these methods to find titles, but this will make it very much easier going forward.

Some of my titles still need a bit of work, but I was surprised how much easier it was with a guide to create them with:

    Show Title: Modern Witchcraft

Episode 1: Love Thine Enemy…Then Kill Him

    Episode 2: Leaders and Misleaders

Episode 3: Race for the Fountain of Youth

Episode 4: Old Friends and Their New Enemies

Episode 5: Where the Other Half Live

Episode 6: When Zombies Run Scared

Episode 7: The Hideous and the Blind

    Episode 8: Rabbit Hole Revisited

What I learned: Looking at the sequence to tell a quick story was very helpful to me. It showed me one episode that was out of order and that I may want to end the season an episode sooner and open the second season with the current final episode. I ended up changing a few of the original episode titles, because I liked the newer titles better. Still a work in progress, but this is what I have so far:

Working Show Title: Meet the Kennedy’s (have eight others I’m sitting with)

Season 1: To Have and to Hold

    Episode 1: Bedazzled and Bankrupt

    Episode 2: Civil Disobedience

Episode 3: A Good Man Is Hard to Find

    Episode 4: Peekaboo

    Episode 5: Trial by Fire

    Episode 6: Ghosted

    Episode 7: Ten Steps Ahead

    Episode 8: Shenanigans and Santeria

    Episode 9: A House Divided

Episode 10 (might move to start Season 2): Old Flames and New Troubles

What I learned doing this assignment is to brainstorm the titles of each episode using the title formats is that it helps to clarify the logic between the episod and the journey of the main character.

    Episode 1.2 – Father figure

Episode 1.3 – predict and prevent

    Episode 1.4 – Godparent

Episode 1.5 – Doubts and fears

    Episode 1.6 – Higher stakes

Episode 1.7 – Back in time and up to hell

Episode 1.8 – The death of the prodigies

    Episode 1.9 – The legacy

Episode 1.10 – Human or angel?

What I learned–the idea of titles telling a story. Excellent. Also, in case anyone is reading these things, this lesson helped me sharpen up the Episode List, in part because of the concept of not repeating info already provided in earlier pages.

    My episode titles:

    Where’s Salva?

    Things Keep Blowing Up

    Salva/Salvation

    Henna Gets a Call

    I Remember You

    What Experiment?

If I’m Not Here, Where Am I?

    Not Going Anywhere
