Jeffrey Alan Chase Continuing Act 2

My vision: I am an “A” list writer who is known for high concept ideas, great execution, a string of successful movies and is always ready to share his knowledge and do what he can to help another writer on the way up.

What I learned from doing this assignment is: to don’t’ stop and just keep going. I’ve finished ACT 2 and I’m probably writing too many pages but I’m closely following my outline and pressing ahead. I was thinking this script would be one of my longer ones, like maybe in the 115 page range. At this point it looks like it’s going to be around 130 – 135 so a whole bunch of editing to come. Very happy how this is going. I’ve been trying to write this particular script for a number of years and with the outline from this class, I’m finally doing it. 😊

    Title: Shards

    Genre: Psychological Thriller

Logline: A woman with no childhood memory is involved in a cat and mouse game with a cunning hypnotist not knowing the man is responsible for both her amnesia and the death of her treasure hunter father.

My Vision: I want to be a great award-winning, successful writer, known for her genre, who creates the most beautiful films that inspire others to feel deeply, pause, and ponder ways to make the world a better place

What I learned from doing this assignment is…That i have many typos.LOL I have completed ACT 2. and am into ACT 3. One scene might need to be moved.

Title: THE NUN AND THE WITCH

    Genre: (mystical /Sci-fi )

Concept: A dedicated nun destined to become a saint, bonds with a witch to achieve a sacred task to battle the evils of hatred consuming the heart of humanity, only to find out that time is running out.

HOW IT WENT. seeing the development of the characters. Everything is moving quickly and feel I most likely will need to add a few scenes.

    Rebecca’s Continuing Act 2

Vision: My success in this program will lead me to be the go-to writer for producers looking for incredible scripts for successful movies enjoyed by a vast viewing audience.

What I learned from doing this assignment of speed writing is that by using the outline, after a few sessions, I was able to write without fear because I can fix things in future drafts.

How it is going: I love this method as I get immersed in the story and want to keep on writing. Even when I stop my mind keeps throwing out ideas. I finished Act 2 almost a week ago and now two thirds of the way through Act 3 and enjoying every scene. Thank you Hal and Cheryl.

    Terrie Continuing Act II

    Vision:
I get paid to write screenplays that get made into crowd pleasing successful films using a process that allows me to keep up my equestrian hobby.

What I learned doing this assignment is how focusing on the outline will keep me moving forward.

How it went? Not great. But I wrote, I skipped a scene I need to do more research to fully write and kept going. Unlike other posts I’m seeing, I think my first draft will be much too short.

My vision: Be recognized as a writer that will work with the industry and would do what it takes to be that WRITER.

What I learned from doing this assignment is setting a timer and race against has improved my speed. THe scene are coming together better than I thought.

    KRISTIN CONTINUING ACT 2

VISION: I want the personal, professional, and financial freedom and joy that come from writing so well that I’m in demand, selling beyond my wildest dreams, and making worthy projects—on a big scale and with my active, collegial participation.

WHAT I LEARNED in this assignment: To modulate my feelings… that is, to just keep my head down and do the next thing; to avoid getting distracted; and to feel the fun feeling of creating.

HOW’S IT GOING? This is working pretty smoothly. I find that when I’m working, I am working fast…and that worrying about it is more distracting/slowing than the process of actually doing the work. I’ve noticed that some scenes were pretty “figured out” in the outline stage, and they go very quickly. Others were summaries of pretty elaborate things, and they obviously take more time. Re: the “timer” idea, those latter kinds of scenes don’t work with the timer, but that’s okay. Sketching them out doesn’t feel “boggy” or slow. They are just sketched out and I keep going. (I forgot to post this update. Have just finished Act II, so will post that assignment, too.)

    Pat’s Continuing Act 2

Vision: I have the talent and tenacity to create contest winning screenplay, and I will continue on to have my scripts optioned and produced.

What I Learned: Sticking to the outline helps with high speed writing, and as I type away I’m starting to see areas where change may be needed. In the past I would back peddle and “fix” what felt like inconsistencies. But I’m quickly learning what a mistake that is. It’s best to stick to the outline until I’ve completed my first draft.

    Sandra Continuing Act 2

Vision: I am doing what I love to do as a writer with several successful produced movies.

What I learned doing this assignment is that wordsmithing shuts off the creative mind, and locks the scene and we don’t want to lock the first draft. I am giving myself permission to write without wordsmithing.

My Vision: To be the best family comedy screenwriter in the industry where my screenplays are produced into fabulous movies, making audiences laugh a lot and making me independently wealthy!

What I learned from doing this assignment is… just to keep writing, and not edit as I go! It works!

    Title: Tara vs. the Termo-Lytes
    Genre: Comedy (Sci-fi)
Concept: A teenage tour guide with no sense of direction and an extreme fear of bugs takes a wrong turn and leads her group to an abandoned

My Experience Not Wordsmithing: No editing as I write is liberating! It works and keeps my writing in flow!

Farrin’s Vision: To do what it takes to become a highly paid A-List Hollywood writer whose produced movies will entertain audiences around the world.

What I learned doing this assignment is to not fall into the trap of wordsmithing during the first draft. It will slow you down and make you think a scene is perfect when you have three more drafts to make it perfect.

ROBERT SMITH CONTINUES ACT 2 92422

MY VISION FOR SUCCESS AFTER THIS PROGRAM:

To become a great writer who delivers entertaining, informative, and uplifting scripts that

    sell and get produced.

WHAT I LEARNED FROM DOING THIS ASSIGNMENT IS…?

Trust that Word smithing must be delayed to the end of the writing process. It gets in the way of creative. The empowerment exercise is crucial to creativity.

HOW THIS IS GOING FOR ME:

I am moving along. I feel like I am improvising and enjoying it.

Vision: I want to be a professional screenwriter recognized by the industry as the go-to for family-friendly scripts and have multiple successful movies produced.

What I learned: I did the five-minute timer race, and I learned that racing against the timer shuts down analytical thinking. I will continue to use a timer as I try to catch up on the assignments.

Vision: To become such an excellent writer that I know every script I write will be well received by the industry, that my scripts will sell and be produced, and I’ll live the life of my dreams. Vision: I am a talented, highly regarded, efficient, relaxed, happy, WGA screenwriter

What I learned doing this assignment is to trust my outline and make minor corrections along the way, keeping to the overall storyline as it is a good one. My characters need fleshing out and there are story gaps but I don’t care. I will handle them later. This is a good process to get the first draft out.

How it’s going: Better than the beginning scenes. Mostly dialogue-driven, as usual, and slow as I am figuring out the details along the way, but feels like going at a good clip.

Jacqueline Murphy Continuing Act 2 MOD 5 Lesson 7

MY Vision: To empower myself to be an A+ List writer, actress, producer whose scripts are optioned, sought after and made into TV shows & Film Feature films that inspire, receive critical acclaim, awards and are financially successful and emotional satisfying.

What I learned is that because I was BEHIND I was rushing a bit. That’s okay but playing catch up isn’t fun. Secondly I see that my Act 2 structure is SO much shorter than my Act 3 and I may have to shift things around BUT I am sticking to my outline. The same thing will happen until I to to Act 3 but I’m aware I had better write longer scenes and have other Locations, characters to add in! Daunting at time but I like that Hal used the term that draft 1 was a “stick figure” version. Which takes off the pressure and allows me to just do it and I will RESHAPE it later on.

    1. Do State-To-Activity empowerment process.

State: I’m completely capable of…Activity: …writing without wordsmithing!

    Andrew Kelm’s Continuing Act 2

Vision: I am going to do whatever it takes to be a great writer of TV and movies who is sought after by people I respect within the industry and has multiple successful TV series produced.

What I learned doing this assignment is… I am having to work against a lot of resistance — not writer’s block; as soon as I get myself going I can be productive. It is a chaotic time in my life so I have to work harder than usual against the temptation to procrastinate. The affirmations and the high-speed approach are working for me. I am quite a bit behind now but will keep pushing forward.

Vision: to become a reliable box office success and entertain audiences all over the world.

Well, this is interesting – the idea of not locking in a scene. I’ve decided to resist the temptation and just keep it flowing. The HSW rules demand it! As long as you stay true to the outline, that is all that’s required. This in itself is a breakthrough.
