Subject: Monica Completed Act 2
Vision: I will continue to learn everything I can through all different media to apply what I learn to become the best screenwriter I can be. To be successful in getting my movies made and to win awards in the process.
What I learned from doing this assignment is keep moving forward.
How it’s going: Finished the last third. Changed a location from a cave to a saucer (yes there’s an alien) just so I can keep the script more contained. Page count end of Act 2 – page 59 in FD.

Lynn’s Completed Act 2
VISION: I am determined to become a great screenwriter capable of getting my screenplays in various genres produced into movies that inspire vast audiences to mitigate climate change.
I LEARNED per Mastery Session 17 it’s a good thing I didn’t major in English, because I don’t have any standards and thus no writer’s block, as my English prof friend has, which she said had prevented her from writing fiction. But I did keep on learning to forgo rewriting as I write, though I continue to do this a bit so as not to forget good ideas, but if they can be put in a reminder note, I’m opting for that.
I’m almost finished with my script, I just have a brief transition scene, then the final scene to write, which I think can be finished by tomorrow, leaving me with a completed first draft with lots of fixing up needed in succeeding drafts.

Renee’s Completed Act 2
My Vision: I will work hard to become a well-respected writer who gets my movies produced and has enough work to keep me busy and keep the lights on.
What I learned doing this assignment is to keep myself empowered and not allow myself to stall out while writing the first draft. Just get the story down and fix issues as you rewrite.
How its Going: Phew! What a sprint. I finished up the second Act and then some. I’m going to continue onto the third act while I have the motivation and energy.

Ron’s Completed Act 2
VISION: I want the success and recognition of being an in demand, A-list screenwriter who writes successful films that are financially profitable, award winning and of enduring quality.
I seem to be hitting a groove. Solved a couple of problem holes and added a new twist that made the plot stronger.
-
Amy’s Completed Act 2
Vision: I want to become known as an expert in the family-friendly genre and make a full-time living as a screenwriter.
What I learned from doing this assignment is…I didn’t really learn anything new, but it feels good to keep moving through this first draft and be at the halfway point already.
-
Dana Completes Act 2
My Vision: I intend to perfect my skills to become a successful screenwriter, scripting acclaimed and profitable films, recognized by my peers, and living an adventurous life.
What I learned during this assignment:
I completed Act 2 in record time, but I am short
on my script. I am reconsidering my outline and how to expand my story to
create the 90-minute thriller I’m writing. -
Dave Holloway Completed Act 2
My vision: I would like to be a successful writer in Hollywood, with a number of successful movies to my credit that put forward a core belief about environmental, political, or personal values.
What I learned from doing this assignment is that using the high-speed writing rules allowed the energy in the scenes to remain intact, rather than being diluted and diminished by examining each line word by word and re-writing them. and thus breaking down the energy and continuity they originally contained.

Marcus Completed Act 2
My Vision: Get a script made into a movie.
This method is great for a
first draft and is working well for me. -
Joel Stern Continuing Act 2
My Vision: To write eight Hollywood blockbusters and get a speaking line in at least one of my films.
Just started Act 3. There’s always a temptation to make sure each scene is perfect — it’s because I write my own copy for my radio work and just a habit. But I’d say the vast majority of time I spend on my “Death Voice” script is off the top of my head.

My vision is to be a stronger writer.
I have learned several things: Using an outline with ten elements does no good if the elements are not objective. Just the facts, ma’am. And I have total of 52. But to weigh and measure them, requires shoring up the visuals.
I have a Johnny come lately protag., who does not arrive till act 2, so other characters have been pinned with being the protag and antag. Second draft writing shall have to deal with that. I have used up my outline long before I got to where it should be placed. So, I have had to re-evaluate the scenes. If I use one scene that grants one page, I’m up a crick. I need at least two pages. (Others I have talked to seem to be going through the same thing.)
I am used to doing a detailed outline without considering all the elements considered in our outline. I flew though the script; whereas now, I have to slow down; I have to consider if I am fulfilling the requirements, and I am not used to that. True, those elements are vital and worth noting, so I respect that process.
I have tried the speedwriting. It goes against decades of writing. It frustrates me and I almost fell kin to my first writer’s block. So, I brushed it aside, re-did what I lost on the computer and tried not to whine. (Though I am very good at whining, if given the opportunity. Lol.) I sense there is a balance to screenwriting; just like any other writing–a rhythm, a cadence. Sometimes, a break takes me away from the script until something says, try this. It’s like a recipe—having to find the right ingredients, and then knowing how much of each to use. I’m almost done with act two. Act three is staring me in the face…Thanks

Module 5 – Lesson 8 Finish Up Act 2. Final 6-10 Pages
Lisa Long Completed Act 2
My Vision: I will do whatever it takes to be comfortable saying that I am a writer by creating impactful stories with amazing characters in order to sell my scripts.
What I learned from this assignment is that building the characters into the dialogue without concern for wordsmithing or perfection is productive at this stage of the process.

MODULE FIVE LESSON EIGHT
FRAN’S COMPLETED ACT TWO
WHAT I LEARNED:
MY VISION: I want to write great movies. Movies that are magical, movies that move people and tell the truth. I want to write movies that stars will want to be in.
I listened to the Mastery Session 17 today and took you advice. I just picked a scene and began writing there. I was able to get down 8+ pages. I catching up!

Module 5, Lesson 8 – Finish Act-2
Subject: Rob Ingalls Completed Act-2
MY VISION:
To be a Talented writer that delivers quality fast, with the film industry seeking me out.
WIL: I’m still short a few pages but that’s okay since later on when enhancing the script, that process will add pages. Ready to move on the Act-3
-
Joe’s Completed Act 2
My vision is to persevere and stay the course of building steady daily routine, and disciplines that produce consistent writing of exceptional quality. Ultimately, the fruit of those habits and disciplines will be a track record of great marketable scripts that will make other successful talented pros seek me out.
I’m getting it fleshed out. Every time i sit to write, I hear that inner-demon saying “this is stereoptyped, this is contrived, there are logic holes, etc. etc.” but there are also several moments when it feels strong and I am surprised at certain things that the characters say and do when I think “now that’s going to attract an actor’ or ‘now that is a trailer moment”. I am also happy about how much my creative mind is letting me veer from the details of the original outline while still keeping to the intent of each scene and/or sequence. I am looking forward to discovering how Hal’s rewrite process is going to make this thing rise above the level of mediocrity.

Erin Ziccarelli Completed Act 2
Vision: I am going to create profound scripts that leave audiences remembering my movies and leave me excited to keep writing and moving up in the industry.
What I learned from doing this assignment is: I very much enjoyed the last mastery session. Trying out some new creative processes (such as rethinking and exploring) will help me become a more imaginative writer. The first half of my script is a little longer than I’d like (about 66 pages instead of 60), but this is something I can work on in the next module. I’m looking forward to moving on – for the first half of the script, I was building up to the midpoint, and now for the second half, I’m excited to build up to the grand finale.
