David Wickenden Finished Wordsmithing
What I learned from doing this assignment?
The process was fun, now that all the other techniques were used. It also helped that I didn’t waste time editing segments of the script that were going to be changed or eliminated, eventually.
Of all the techniques for wordsmithing, I think reading the script backwards caught most issues. It takes away the story which I find overshadows the words. I’ll use this technique in the future, even in my novel writing.
The other thing that helped was cutting words and sentences to create fast reading. I cut out a ton. The entire script is lean.

David Thompson has Finished Wordsmithing!
What I learned doing this assignment is how easy the process is with all that I have learned in this class.
The script is tight, extraneous words removed. I tend to write too much description, a hold-over from writing novels, and I wound up cutting several paragraphs and shortening the script by three pages. Pacing the action, plus killing several scenes I figured were needed, but in reality, was just filler. I also used the usual proofing apps I also use with my books (once I figured out how to change its defaults to allow the script formatting and present tense).
An excellent pilot script is the result.

Hi David
Are you interested in exchanging pilots for feedback?
My pilot is titled, Defending Innocence and deals with a vigilante hunting child abusers. NOTE: There are no sexual scenes in the story. My email is wickendendave@gmail.com.
Look forward to reviewing yours.

Sounds good!
Tho – I still want to tweak this one scene, so give me a day or so.
