Hi, my name is Stephanie and I live in Australia.

I have written one full length family movie script and a few shorts.

I like to travel to other countries and spend 3 months just living in a single location to experience life in those places. So far I have called New Zealand, Spain , Argentina and Thailand home. I am currently trying to decide on my next destination 😀

Hi, I’m Claudia Smith. I’ve written 4 scripts and will probably use AI to tweak them when necessary. Something unique about me? I’m a private pilot, scuba diver, and service dog trainer.

Hi, my name is Mahee Sanapareddy. I was born in India but now a citizen of the U.S. I just celebrated my 53rd birthday a couple of days ago.

I have written 4 scripts, one of which was a semi-finalist at a screenwriting contest. I converted the remaining 3 scripts into three parts of a franchise novel and hoping to get published.

I have just started working on the fourth part of my novel. I’m hoping this class will help me fine tune the intricacies of the screenwriting process and help me break through into the industry.

I’m a software programmer and have a very demanding job. I try to find whatever time I can to focus on my writing.

I’m looking forward to meeting new folks and learn many new things from this class.

    Good luck to everyone.

I’m David Shoenfeld. I’ve written (and rewritten) about a dozen scripts over the years since my very first one made the Quarter-Finals of a major contest.

I hope to get several things out of this class. A well-organized approach to my storytelling, a clearer sense of leveraging SU Skills Mastery techniques, and recharge efforts to tackle a few script concepts that are vying for attention.

My introduction to screenwriting (which launched my journey) was when, as Chief Marketing Officer for FedEx Express, left the table (Zemeckis, Broyles Jr. and Starkey, along with FedEx Chairman and COO) with a draft of Cast Away and Brand Appearance Script Approval. I’m sworn to secrecy on the remote location where Chuck and Wilson spent their time.

Two years later, I moved to Santa Monica, surrounded by Entertainment Industry folks (Writers, Directors, Studio Staff & Execs). 7 years later, I left to make a reverse Beverly Hillbillies trek to NC, bought the old Clampett estate, put in a cement pond and set-up my writing room.

    Hi, Ron Johnson here.

I’ve written 8 feature scripts, a dozen shorts or so. I’ve produced mixed martial arts documentaries, short projects getting millions of views in some cases, hundreds on others. My film professor told me I was a much better producer than writer and he was correct. I’ve also used this a motivation to improve my skills. He was one of my favorite instructors because he pulled no punches.

I have been through the pro series, masterclass, binge worthy and wasn’t planning on doing any more classes, but Hal talked about AI and this class seemed like one I couldn’t pass up. I hope to improve my speed in the creation process.

We’re raising our grandkids and soon they will be producing their own material on YouTube, I’m in preproduction on an untitled sci-fi short that the nine year old will star in. I have a respectable name from the astro physics world signed on to do the voice of AI.

    Hello!

I’m Claudia O’Brien. I’ve written one feature length script based on a crazy rescue mission my husband and I undertook to save five Afghan translators for the U.S. Marine Corps (and their families) after the fall of Kabul. It’s made it to the quarterfinals in three competitions, but I need to elevate the characters in particular to get it to the next level.

I loved the process of writing the screenplay. So I decided to work on another (currently in progress) and to start taking classes so I can become a better screenwriter.

Interesting thing about me: I am a retired environmental lawyer from a big law firm, my husband is a retired Foreign Service officer, and I have about a million things I’d like to write about.

My name is Will Jennings and I live in one of the fly-over states that no one cares about. I have written a children’s TV pilot and a few scripts that need some serious work. When I take writing courses, I quickly come to the relation that I am making a ton of mistakes and head back to the drawing board. I am hoping this class is a big help in that department. I am a lifetime rom-com and comedy junkie and believe movies were much funnier and more enjoyable in my childhood than later in life. Like most people that took up movie writing, after I watch a flick, all I can think is — I can do way better than that piece of rubbish!

    Hi everyone!

    Very excited about the class!!

    1. Name?

    Natasha Paris

    2. How many scripts you’ve written?

Depends. I wrote 30 scripts between 16 yo and 18 yo, but they are not great! Lol! Finished 6 feature films, none of them produced, but they do have recognitions. I plan on revisiting them after completing the course to make them even better.

I’ve produced/written/directed a few shorts, some won at film festivals. I’ve worked mostly worked as 1st AD and Scripty in many shorts and features.

Feel free to check out my work at:

    Lunaluzproductions.com

    3. What you hope to get out of the class?

Become a better screenwriter. Write faster, more efficiently.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

In the past 5 generations on my mother’s side, none of the daughters were born in the same country as their mother’s! I continue this tradition with my second daughter! My eldest was – instead – born in the exact same hospital as me.

Three features, a handful of shorts. One feature that was co-written and we’re rewriting it now.

I hope to get way better at this craft.

I’m an INTJ, shoutout to all my misunderstood creatives haha 🙂

Hola! I’m Jim Kanter, I’m retired and living la Pura Vida in Costa Rica these days.

Among my many careers I was an award-winning feature filmmaker (and I also wrote that screenplay) and I’ve written 8 feature screenplays and many shorts. Have taken several classes with ScreenwritingU (each was better than any I had taken at USC film school) but haven’t done any writing for years.

Am getting back into the game as I have had a couple of ideas floating around in my head for years that I want to finally write.

I also teach tai chi and qigong and am getting back into creating music.

    Hi everybody!

My name is Anna Burroughs-Merrill. I write sci-fantasy under two different pen names, as well as non-fiction under my real name. I’ve completed two feature scripts (one thriller, one horror) as well as 4:5 seasons of a proposed television series. I also have several unfinished “plot bunny” scripts that were started as part of learning a new skill during a SU class or some other creative endeavor (oh, lost steam….)

What I hope to get out of this class is the motivation to blast through one hell of a case of “finish-itis” (aka writers block) in finishing off the final season of my proposed tv series and give me the glimmerings of (hopefully several) brand new ideas for writing beyond that grand finale. I miss writing “in the flow”.

Unusual? Unique? Special? Strange? We’re creative people. Are we supposed to be some OTHER way? 😀 I’m a second-degree blackbelt in USA Urban GoJu karate, a pretty decent markswoman, I like pretty shiny deadly things, post-apocalyptic fiction & movies, am a suburban homesteader and avid gardener, a Boy Scout mom, and have kids ranging from age 17 to age 37 (so I’ve raised both Millennial and Gen-Z kids … totally different animals). My husband and son are computer engineers, but I’m a avowed Luddite (ask me about the time the GPS failed during a thunderstorm in Scotland and I led everybody out of the Quiraing using my analog wristwatch as a compass).

Hey all! I don’t see a forum for posting today’s homework assignment, so I am putting it here:

What I learned from doing this assignment is: I really like this process of focusing on the high concept, hook and title first, then moving to an outline. The rigidity of the four options for character structure was unexpected – and quite useful.

    Title: Wings of Grace

    Genre: Drama

High Concept: A nurse in the
WWII Women’s Army Corps battles racism, sexism and incompetence as she
tries to save the life of a badly injured Tuskegee airman.

    Character Structure: Romantic
    Triangle.

    Hi Everyone,

I’m Maureen from New York, and I’m a little late getting this Intro posted. We’re already in Mod 5! Sorry.

I’ve been taking and loving online classes here at Screenwriting U over the last couple of years. I’m loving this class. A series of awesome challenges so far.

I’ve written 13 screenplays and 1 script for a TV series. 3 scripts optioned and worked as a writer for hire on 6 screenplays and the TV script. One of the writer-for hire screenplays was produced.

Looking forward to continuing to see everybody’s work develop!

    Maureen
