MODULE 1 LESSON 6: BUILD YOUR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIP MAP

What I learned doing this assignment is…?”

    ASSIGNMENT 1:

Watch the next episode of your Example Show and focus on ONE of the main characters and how they interact with others. Notice how much you discover that could go into their Relationship Map.

    ASSIGNMENT 2:

    1. Create a Relationship Map for THREE lead characters from YOUR SHOW IDEA.

  • Subtext:
  • Relationship Arc:
  • 3. Do the same process for the second lead character and the third lead character.

    4. Using this prompt, fill in your format/genre, concept, and four characters, giving a one-sentence explanation of each character with their role and main form of intrigue.

    PROMPT:

Create a TABLE showing the relationship between these five [Characters] for a Serial TV series that is [Format / Genre] about [Concept].

Relationship means how these two characters relate or interact or feel about each other within the categories provided.

Please tell us the [Main Character] experience of the other characters in these areas – Common Ground, Relationship Conflict, Relationship History, Relationship Subtext, and Relationship Arc.

Title it “Character Relationships for [Main Character]”. This will compare the Main Character to each of the other characters. Across the top of the table, list the names of [Main Character] in the far left-hand box, then [Character 2], [Character 3], [Character 4] and [Character 5]. In the left-hand column, under the Main Character’s name, present a row for each of these categories — Common Ground, Relationship Conflict, Relationship History, Relationship Subtext, and Relationship Arc. Where each column and row intersect, fill in that part of the relationship between the Main Character and that column’s character.
