Introduce Yourself To The Group
Posted by cheryl croasmun on July 12, 2021 at 12:33 amHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Name: Don Thompson
1. How many scripts you’ve written? Including plays, around twenty. My more recent screenplays (since 2017) have won some awards. This may indicate I’m a late bloomer, but the jury is still out.
2. What do you hope to get out of the class? To improve my writing and my ability to interact with clients and producers more credibly and professionally.
3. Something unique, special, strange, or unusual about you? If you google the term ‘humanistic media’ the answer google provides (at least to me in my browser!) is based on the definition I wrote about twenty years ago when I first started my production company in New York. Since very few people likely search on that phrase, it might not really matter that much, but it is unusual.
Happy to be with everyone on this writing journey!

I have completed one historical drama script, one TV Pilot with three additional episodes, and am currently in the process of writing a thriller.
I hope to learn how to create the most professional, well-written script possible.
I have been writing for newspapers, magazines, and radio for years as well as the author of the “A to Z of Wall Street,” and “Cooking Ostrich with Confidence.” I am also 77 years of age.

1. How many scripts I’ve written? 3-1/2 scripts. I’ve also written 14 novels (none published yet).
2. What I hope to get out of the class? I want to be able to independently improve my writing exponentially before I submit. Techniques from other classes have been very helpful in initial planning/writing and I hope this one will help with elevating it.
3. Something odd/unusual about me? I’ve moved 37 times since I graduated from high school, was an Air Force officer for 3 of those moves and had a 45 year career as an industrial engineer at 25 different employers. I’ve been working on moving from engineering to writing for 20 years (when the new job skill upgrades were completed) via critique groups, conferences and professional organizations.

My name is Ron Dalrymple. I live in Hamilton Canada and have written 11 scripts of which I have optioned 3. What I hope to achieve by taking the Creative Mastery course is to ensure consistency in my writing. Although my latest script received a ‘Recommend’ on coverage from Screenplay Readers, I want to further improve my writing skills and be able to respond to producer/manager/director notes in a highly professional way. I enjoy cycling vacations, have a degree in Chemistry and now write full time. I have taken many of the courses here at ScreenwritingU and can honestly say that they have helped me immensely in my journey as a screenwriter. Hal and Cheryl provide an amazing service and I am very thankful for what they do.

Hello everyone, I’m Vaughn Roste, currently living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I’ve been writing full-time for two years, and in that time have published about ten poems, two short stories, optioned one feature, written a short which will be shot this summer, and won about 47 awards for screenwriting. I’ve written three features, three pilots, and about eight shorts.
I’m hoping to learn how to make my best writing better, even irresistible. Something unique about me is I’ve visited every continent except Antarctica and lived on four of them.

2. 4 full length features, 3 shorts, selected scenes and treatment based on a directors idea. I am currently writing 3 scripts simultaneously (one is a rewrite and another is going to be a series), (it’s insane) and have a treatment for an idea that my oldest daughter came up with. I have other treatments that have not been moved into the writing phase. Plus my middle daughter and I are working on a possible graphic novel about her imaginary world she created. And I am researching for a doc I’m trying to make about the sinking of the Coast Guard cutter Blackthorn in St. Petersburg, FL.
3. More ways to make my writing and myself bankable to producers, managers and agents.
4. I think there is more to horror films than most people and major studios think. Jordan Peele proved that with “Get Out” and indie favorite Don Coscarelli has been doing it for decades and pretty much shunned by major studios. Proving that you don’t need a boogey man to kill horny teens is what horror is turning to now. Funny thing is I write more comedy than horror. Trying to find time write is hard with three daughters all vying for your attention ALL DAY LONG! LOL. Side Note: if you go to my profile the picture of the skateboarder blasting that frontside ollie on that overpass is not me, it’s Matt Hensley, retired pro and founding member and accordionist for Flogging Molly.
Nice to meet you all.

Hello Cheryl and Hal and all of you in the class,
It is a very special pleasure to be working on writing assignments with Hal. So far I am learning to improve my writing in many ways and all about the business.
Scripts I have written are still piling up on my desktop, but guess what- they’re not bad and you might see them produced sometime in the near future! I just love working on stories.
I hope that I’ll be able to quit my day job soon enough.
My uniqueness has no limit. I do enjoy making people laugh…
‘Til then!
Kathy

1. Name? Julie Wochholz
2. How many scripts you’ve written? 11 Features, 1 TV pilot. Several Features partially completed, and have developed ideas for a couple more TV pilots.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? Problem Solving Skills. When it comes to my screenplays, I have no problem coming up with high concept ideas and great titles but once the script is completed I just know it should be better than it is. I need to double the quality! I also want to have those skills so I can work professionally with agents, producers and directors and be the problem solver in the room.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? Retired Attorney. I enjoy new adventures, and recently became obsessed with the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt. I had a blast going out into the Rockies looking for that treasure chest. Good thing someone found it, so I can focus on writing again. Currently finishing my first novel.

Hi Everyone!
My name is Cindi Delinsky and I’ve written 6 scripts and 1 TV pilot. I’ve taken numerous classes with Hal over the last ten years, but I stopped writing for the last few years because of the constant stress and trauma involved in caring for my father who has Alzheimer’s. However, all of a sudden I signed up for two classes from SU this month! (Thank you for the irresistible Free Friday calls you’ve done throughout the pandemic, Hal!) I hope to regain some of the writing skills I have neglected lately, as well as learn tools for being a more flexible, creative, and empowered writer who can work with producers. Something interesting is that two years ago I became an intuitive energy practitioner, and I think the generational clearing I’ve been doing on myself is what made me suddenly return to writing. This will be my first writing class that I’m combining with energy work, so I’m curious to see how it goes! I’m looking forward to learning from all of you in this class.

My name is Rebecca Sukle and I have completed two pilot scripts and working on a feature. I am the author of two labor history novels. I hope to take my writing to an even higher level. I am in my late seventies but enjoy learning, writing, teaching yoga, and hiking.
We look forward to working with you all!

Hello Everyone!
My name is Michael Greco. I have written one full-length feature screenplay; I am close to completing a second. I also have written short stage-plays, two of which have been produced / staged in non-equity venues.
I really like the structure of the ScreenwritingU classes – the idea of Doubling The Quality of my writing is, of course, compelling to me.
I think everything is interesting about me – I speak French fluently and Spanish somewhat masterfully, in addition to English. Trying to add German and Italian….but writing comes first, English is the language of choice for that. For now!
I am excited to be taking this journey with everyone.
Cheers, Happy Writing!
Michael

Name: Henry G Kana
The # of Scripts: I have written 4 Features, 3 Shorts and working on a 5th Feature. One of my Action films won 1st place at a Film Festival and one Short has placed as Finalist three times.
The Class: I am hoping to learn additional writing skills that will my Scripts to World Renoun Features and Short. Hopefully some of them will be made into Films.
Some things Unique: I am retired from my “Day Job” as a Safety Engineer, but I have been Acting since 1983. My first Acting gig was a National Coke Commerical and I star as the “Wounded Bank Guard” in the Renoun DMX music video, “Party Up”. My Creativity comes to me like a lightning bolt described as the “Jolt of Creativity.” I hand worte 50 pages of my first Screenplay in the middle of the night from 1am to 4am. It naturally flowed as through I was in a transe. Best wishes to all my fellow writers and “Break a Leg”. Henry

Tell us the following:
Hi everyone, my name is Carolyn Bliesener and I’ve written 3 scripts. I’m near the end of the ProSeries and I’m hoping to keep my momentum going by diving straight into this class and doubling the quality of my writing. I’m currently moving from NJ to AZ with a husband and a 12 year old yorkie.
-
Hi all; I enjoyed learning a bit about you in your introductions.
1. Name? Hope McPherson
2. How many scripts you’ve written? Since beginning my SU journey with Hal and Cheryl a few years ago, I’m marketing two good spec scripts and a pilot these days (two are with producers right now), and wrote three crappy scripts pre-SU.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? Yes, I want to double the quality of my writing and continue to make a habit of implementing all the amazing skills I learned in ProSeries60; MSC8, Bingeworthy4, etc.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I bought a farm and now live with four goofy goats and an aloof llama — and (per my game cams) copious rabbits, an assortment of pesky coyotes (the llama keeps them away from the goats), two raccoons, a lumbering possum, a beautiful doe and buck, and two bears.
