Michael Fitzer’s Transformational Journey
My Vision: I am a great writer who is respected by my peers, writes scripts that sell and teaches future filmmakers how to succeed.
What I learned from this assignment is: Even if this changes over time, laying out a clear beginning and end to my protagonist’s arc with inform the what and how of her predicaments. I thought I had a clear idea of what she was struggling for/against but this exercise made me rethink that and how I approach her character. It even made me rethink the opening of the script.
Protagonist: KATIE MENDOZA
Arc Beginning: Former military MP turned prison officer who blames herself for the death of her former charges in Afghanistan.
Arc Ending: She exhibits bravery in the face of death to save her charges.
Internal Journey: From weak and afraid to strong and fearless.
External Journey: From a fearful ex MP searching for redemption to a trusted protector of those left in her care.Old Ways:
• Stuck in a cycle.
• No clear path to self-forgiveness.
• Struggles to find balance.
• Struggles with her own humanity.
New Ways:
• Can put her code to the test and win.
• Can stand up to death.
• Courageous.
• Fighting for humanity.-

Carole Avila – Transformational Journey
My Vision: My writing skills are in demand by the writing industry, because I provide exceptionally crafted, well-loved stories enjoyed by people of all ages that inspire professionals to produce my work onscreen and in print.
What I learned from doing this assignment is the importance of knowing my character, even if my audience isn’t aware of that information.
Character Arc for your Protagonist:
• Arc Beginning: Front yard of mission-style ranch.
• Arc Ending: Ranch in Northwest Arkansas.
My Character’s Internal/External Journey:
• Internal Journey: Mandy is irresponsible and lazy, waiting for life to happen and goes to making big decisions for herself and becoming proactive
• External Journey: Mandy has a better sense of how she wants to live.
4. Tell us their Old Ways at the beginning of the movie and their New Ways at the end.
Old Ways:
• She is irresponsible
• Doesn’t want to put out effort to find a meaningful life
• She’s self-centered
New Ways:
• She is optimistic
• She is ready to tackle her unknown future
• She is confident in her decision making abilities-

My Vision: I am an amazing writer who has fun every day, is recognized by the industry for my ability to take audiences who love me through surprising experiences, and who has multiple successful movies produced while being highly paid.
What I learned from doing this assignment is:
That it is not only a one time thing to make decisions in this area and that I will need to update it as I go along.

Arc Beginning: BRENDI – lower echelon spy with the FSB in Russia. She is a trapeze aerialist with the Russian Circus. She was recruited because the “chatter” pointed to other countries’ assets hiding as Circus performers. She is excited by this because she loves her country and her people and wants to help. She also wants to prove she is more than an aerialist and a “pretty face.”
Arc Ending: BRENDI is a top agent. She has prevented the extermination of millions of innocent Russian lives which would have also destroyed Russia as a country. She receives Russia’s highest honors (privately/secretly of course). She is embedded in Cirque du Soleil in the US to continue to work with Chaz Kofman and go to banquets etc. to search out and destroy Chinese spies who are working to destroy both Russia and the United States. (another story? Are the Chinese spies in league with the Mafia in Las Vegas? What about the Russian Mafia in NYC? – where else have they settled?)
Give us their Internal/External Journey.
Internal Journey: BRENDI goes from not feeling happy with her life and how she is living it to experiencing excitement and fulfillment.
External Journey: BRENDI goes from being an embedded low-level trapeze artist in the Russian Circus to being a top-level agent who is respected by her superiors.
Tell us their Old Ways at the beginning of the movie and their New Ways at the end.
Old Ways: BENDI was unhappy only being a trapeze performer.
New Ways: BRENDI relishes and celebrates the acknowledgment of her superiors for her spy skills instead of only being a performer.

Thank you both for your comments. I am doing you a disservice, having had no time to review your work. I am deep into my MFA studies and barely able to keep up with the daily assignments.
