Natalie’s Marketable Components
WIL: I like dissecting my show into its most important elements.
1. Show logline: In a world where gods clash and fate hangs in the balance, a Hawaiian orphan teen harnesses forbidden powers to navigate treacherous alliances battling to avert the cataclysmic collision of divine and mortal realms.
2. 10 Components of Marketability:
1. Unique. What sets this project apart is its fusion of Hawaiian with other worldwide mythologies, creating a rich and diverse tapestry of gods, legends, and conflicts rarely explored in mainstream media. Additionally, the protagonist's journey as a Hawaiian orphan teen chosen to bridge the mortal and divine realms offers a fresh perspective on the classic hero's journey trope.
2. Great Title: Stolen Senses.
3. Timely: ”Stolen Senses” is timely as it addresses contemporary themes of identity, diversity, consequences of power, and unity through its blend of Hawaiian, Greek, and other mythologies. By intertwining mythologies, the show celebrates diverse cultures and perspectives, resonating with audiences seeking representation and inclusivity in media.
4. It’s a first. This show can be categorized as the "first" in several ways: It's the first to blend Hawaiian and Greek mythology with other worldwide mythologies in a contemporary setting, the first to feature a diverse cast of characters representing different cultures and backgrounds, and the first to explore the complexities of identity and heritage through the lens of ancient mythology.
5. Ultimate. Worldwide Mythology appeal
6. Wide audience appeal. "Stolen Senses" has broad audience appeal across all demographics, from children and families to teenagers, young adults, and even the elderly, thanks to its blend of adventure, romance, mythology, and cultural richness. It offers something for everyone, from captivating storylines to thought-provoking themes, ensuring widespread engagement and enjoyment.
7. Similarity to a box-office success. "Stolen Senses" combines the exploration of power struggles and intricate world-building of “Game of Thrones” with the heroic journey and supernatural elements of “The Last Avenger.”
3. The two most prominent marketability components of "Stolen Senses" are its uniqueness and wide audience appeal.
UNIQUENESS: The blend of Hawaiian, Greek, and other major worldwide mythologies.
This can be pitched by highlighting the show's innovative approach to storytelling, offering a fresh and captivating perspective on ancient myths rarely explored in mainstream media. Emphasizing the rich cultural backdrop and the infusion of diverse mythological elements can attract attention from audiences seeking original and thought-provoking content.WIDE AUDIENCE APPEAL: Multi-dimensional characters, gripping storyline, and universal themes of power, betrayal, and self-discovery.
Pitching the show as a captivating blend of fantasy, adventure, and drama ensures its appeal to a broad demographic, including fans of mythology, supernatural genres, and character-driven narratives. Highlighting the show's ability to resonate with viewers across different age groups and interests can position it as a must-watch for diverse audiences craving immersive storytelling experiences. -

What I learned: How to use marketable components to effectively pitch.1. Current Logline: Transported to an alien planet, a mild-mannered man relives Masada’s historic siege through echoes, tasked with altering its outcome to save a warring nation from impending annihilation.
2. Components of Marketability
a. True – based on an historic event
b. Timely – based on Jewish history which is highlighted currently in the news.
Pitch with components: Current events have us asking if Jewish history is repeating itself. Echoes of Masada takes an historical event and repeats it in a parallel universe. The Concept for this project is: A man becomes a reluctant prophet on an alien planet, reliving the historic siege of Masada through mysterious echoes, tasked with altering its outcome to save a warring nation. -

“What I learned doing this assignment is…to elevate my project marketability using the 10 components.”
Concept: A math prodigy joins a heist to penetrate an underground banking system to steal an ancient ledger protected by a secret society that controls the financial world.
10 Components of Marketability:
• A. Unique – a heist that can save the banking world as we know it.
• B. Great Title – Hawala Ledger (Hawala is a household name everyone in India is familiar with as an alternative banking system that is usually linked to the underworld, big scams and terror financing. The ledger is meant to hold ancient secrets to wealth and power passed on through generations by the secret Society called “The Kuber Circle”)
• C. True – N/A
• D. Timely — in a time of digital payment apps with fiat currency no longer in vogue and the risk and fall of crypto, Hawala is still a very successful form of banking that runs the underworld and has never been fully explored.
• E. It’s a first – “Hundi” is the first IOU of ancient India that might hold the clues for a new banking system in a digital age. This series explores this theme as the heist team hunts for the ledger that holds these ancient secrets.
• F. Ultimate – “The Kuber Circle” named after the god of wealth “Kubera” in Hindu Mythology, is an ancient secret society like the Knights Templars, Freemasons or the Illuminati that has been passed down the ages a ledger of secrets that control the world through the power and influence of money – the shylocks of ancient India and guardians of financial secrets of the world.
• G. Wide audience appeal – Financial crimes and heist series have a wide appeal, especially with youth who have big dreams of becoming rich and powerful quickly.
• H. Adapted from a popular book – N/A
• I. Similarity to a box-office success – Mr Robot meets Money Heist
• J. A great role for a bankable actor – a math prodigy who is also a badass and the heir to a powerful secret society.
Priya: an engaging newbie/nerdy/badass
Raghav: ruthless and cunning Hawala leader AKA The Hyena
Arjun: intelligent and cunning mastermind AKA Raven
Meera: genius hacker AKA Ghost

Denice’s Marketable Components
What I learned from this assignment. Writing has been a close-up, complicated view of the series pilot. It’s actually a relief to view it from a business perspective. By using the ten components, it was easier to focus on the most important selling points of the series.
Current logline for series: A spoiled, insecure teenager discovers her kidnapped father’s secrets and her destiny as the first female Dreamweaver, only to be targeted for death in two worlds.
Current logline for pilot: Ripped from her life when her father is kidnapped, a spoiled, insecure teenager discovers her heritage as a Dreamweaver and escapes through a dream portal to find him.
Two components with the most potential for selling the script:
1. Wide audience appeal:
The series already has appeal for the teen, young adult viewer with a sixteen-year-old, female protagonist.
I can emphasize the huge television market for young adult fantasy and action with a teen protagonist who is unprepared to confront life and death decisions that affect the world of dreams and reality.
2. Unique – A teen girl has to save two worlds.
I can emphasize her lack of emotional control and experience that affects the balance of the dream realm and reality, with life and death consequences for both worlds. -

What I learned doing this assignment is I have several components in my script. Forced to concentrate on marketable components, I realized I had two more I could add to the script.
A. Unique: A homeless Army veteran must prove he’s innocent of war crimes.
B. Great Title: Says it all about what the story is about.
C. True: N/A
D. Timely — connected to some major trend or event: People returning to God, End Times
E. It’s a first: A compelling story in the “new” Christian Thriller genre.
F. Ultimate: Satan is about to take control of humankind.
G. Wide audience appeal: wider than just Faith-based.
H. Adapted from a popular book: N/A
I. Similarity to a box-office success: Sound of Freedom, The Shack, Heaven is for Real, The Chosen
J. A great role for a bankable actor:
1. A homeless Army vet with PTSD on the run from false charges of war crimes.
2. Twin brothers played by the same actor. One brother good. The other possessed.
3. A black, tattooed drug dealer turned born-again long-haul trucker.
4. A Jewish nurse obsessed with tracing her genealogy back to the time of Christ.
5. Ex-wife of the Army vet whose rich father forced her to divorce the vet.
6. A conflicted homeless shelter priest. -

What I learned doing this assignment is how to look at my project through the marketable components and make decisions based on what a manager or producer needs.A. Unique: the journalist’s investigation into a cult with connections to the supernatural shifts the viewer’s perception of reality and horror.
B. Great Title: Veil of Shadows suggests mystery, darkness, and something hidden.
C. True: N/A
D. Timely: Cults and supernatural elements are continually popular in society and the continued fascination with true crime and investigative journalism.
E. It’s a First: N/A
F. Ultimate: the ultimate horror of merging grim human cult activities with otherworldly terrors.
G. Wide Audience Appeal: fans of horror, supernatural stories, investigative dramas, and psychological thrillers would find the horror genre combined with a mystery-thriller narrative about cults have a broad appeal.
H. Adapted from a popular book: N/A
I. Similarity to a box-office success: similar to “True Detective” for its deep investigative narrative and dark atmosphere and “Stranger Things” for its blend of supernatural elements and real-world drama.
J. A great role for a bankable actor: Veronica is a complex character with a compelling backstory and emotional depth. -
My response is always nicely spaced, but once I post it, the spacing gets lost. Maybe not this time?
Lenore Bechtel’s Components of Marketability.Logline: Lilly Brandon wants national publicity for the book she’s ghost-writing for Joshua, but scandal reporter Quinten Quebeck’s intention to expose Joshua as a fraud makes this endeavor challenging. She must keep Quinten at bay while navigating Joshua’s zany treatments for weird clients and coping with Sally Singleton, the latest task-challenged new hire.
This series has these components of marketability:
Unique: A hypnotist extraordinaire has never been a series star. .
Great Title: “Hypnotized by Hope” is a double entendre: Joshua Hope is not only the hypnotist’s name, but the driving force behind tthe protagonist Lilly Brandon’s reasons for hitching her star to his wagon.
True: The story is based on a actual hypnotist who was capable of pulling off all the hypnotic suggestions used in this series.
First: The story is definitely a first— the ultimate story set in the rare and distrinctive world of hypnosis.
Wide Audience Appeal: The topic has it, especially for teenagers. High schools find that hypnosis shows are the most popular of all types performed for their student bodies.
Great Roles: Both Joshua Hope (cunning/loveable/unpredictable) and Lilly Brandon (ambitious, rejected, competent) are great roles for already bankable actors and could jump- start careers for upcoming ones.
The two components that have the most potential for selling this script:
It is unique and will have wide audience appeal.
How I might pitch the script through these two components:
It’s easy to get “unique” into the concept, but “wide audience appeal” poses problems.
Here’s my first attempt:
In the unique world of hypnosis—particularly fascinating to young adults—Lilly Brandon hitches her wagon to the star she hopes her book will make of Joshua Hope, hypnotist extraordinaire, whose zany treatments she must conceal from a scandal reporter whose expose could doom both their book and their futures.
I think I like it better than the longer logline above.

What I learned is how to use the unique components of my story to make a marketable pitch.
1. Unique:
My story combines elements of science fiction, supernatural horror, and psychological drama in a distinctive way. The concept of children with psychic abilities being exploited by a sinister government agency experimenting with alien consciousness is fresh and intriguing. It sets your story apart from other sci-fi or supernatural series.
2. Timely:
My story tackles themes that are particularly relevant in today's world, such as the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, the misuse of power by authority figures, and the importance of mental health and self-acceptance. These themes resonate with current social and political issues, making my story timely and connected to ongoing conversations.-

Jerry Robbins’ Marketable Components
What I learned doing this assignment is that you only need a couple of of marketable components to be able to market your script.
1. Current logline: A scientist creates a robot model that is part human, part machine. And these creations now want the same rights as humans.
2 Unique – this is a unique theme that hasn’t been played out in any movies. The creations aren’t monsters that humans would naturally fear. It goes beyond clever robots with AI to robots that actually have a human brain component.
Timely – the theme is also timely, as there is a lot on the web about the threat of humans being made obsolete by AI at a time when so much research and resources are being funded in this direction. With the “human robot” idea, we echo Elon Musk’s ideas of “neural lace” and man merging with machines. It is also timely because of the advancements in science; brain cells in a petri dish have already been used to control robot movements. The next step, as in the script, would be to grow a full brain inside a robot. -
Phyllis’s Marketable Components.
1. Current Logline: After four elderly test-subjects use an experimental procedure to transfer their minds into youthful brain-dead hosts, they discover that being young again has side-effects and setbacks.
2. Components of Marketability: A) Unique: Four elderly test subjects transfer their minds into youthful brain-dead hosts. B) Timely: The graying of America meets the luxury experiences of the 1% (think trips into space).
3. Pitch: People today, especially the rich, are living longer, and they spend their fortunes on one-of-a-kind experiences like rocket trips. That’s the inspiration for the story of four elderly test subjects who pay millions to transfer their minds into youthful, brain-dead hosts only to find they’re affected by their hosts’ primal emotions.

What I learned doing this assignment is to focus on the primary selling points. Find the key to why I wrote this story and share that enthusiasm with the money people.
Title – A Devil’s Bargain
Current logline – A vampire coven leader get help from a human cop to discover who and how someone is murdering her people.G. Wide audience appeal. Vampire stories are universal, but this isn’t about bloodletting. This coven’s struggle against bigotry as they try to go mainstream is undermined by a covert organization’s quest for dominion.
J. A great role for a bankable actor. – The main characters work for and against each other in a fluctuating eternal game of power, oppression, and greed. -
