ATAUR’S CONVENTIONS
WHAT I LEARNED – FILL IN THE BLANKS FIRST ; PLAN TO ELEVATE ELEMENT BY ELEMENT
CONCEPT AND CONVENTIONS:
TEMPORARY TITLE : Urban Phantom
A) Specialized Action Hero: A former urban guerrilla fighter turned private investigator.
B) Demand for Action: A syndicate controls the city’s underworld and threatens to unleash chaos.
C) Mission: Infiltrate the syndicate, dismantle their operations, and restore order.
D) Antagonist: A cunning crime lord with vast resources and influence.
E) Escalating Action:
1. Initial reconnaissance reveals the syndicate’s extensive network.
2. Hero disrupts minor operations to gather intel, facing off against syndicate enforcers.
3. Deep undercover work within the syndicate, risking exposure.
4. High-stakes confrontations as the crime lord tightens his grip on the city.
5. Climactic battle at the syndicate’s headquarters, with the hero dismantling the organization’s leadership and infrastructure. -
Tracy’s Conventions
I learned how to elevate the ultimate mission and the importance of the antagonist’s goals and rationale for stopping the hero’s mission.
Conventions
• Hero: MacAllister, nickname Mac. Knows several languages. Can build almost anything including weapons.
• Demand For Action: Stop the Time Changers who want to change the past to make certain changes in the future.
• Mission: Prevent the destruction of Earth in the future and save his family.
• Antagonist: The human leader of the Time Changers. He wants to make changes to the past that will make him and his family the most powerful people in the future.
• Escalating Action: MacAllister falls in love with a woman from a past time and endangers her life. Protecting her jeopardizes his mission and gives the Time Changers a new way to hurt MacAllister and manipulate him. -
What I learned doing this assignment: I have thought this movie/series idea out pretty well but now I can answer specific questions about the idea, I think.
Hero: An exceptionally skilled soldier and former POW with severe PTSD exacerbated by her capture and captivity, wants to heal herself so she can take care of her daughter.
Demand For Action: She keeps helping other people out of dangerous situations while being pursued by more and more people.
Mission: Heal herself by helping others so she can care for her daughter
antagonist: Her former squad leader who accuses her of treason
Escalating Action: As she journeys across a country helping people, more people are after her; the danger escalates as she becomes a legend while the U.S. military tries to find her before a terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
