What I learned doing this assignment is that elements can overlap for each character, but each character must have unique characteristics/qualities, which is where AI helps.

    The Queen’s Gambit
    Beth:
    A. Situational: Hope / Fear: To conquer world’s chess champions / Fears turning into Alma, who is dependent on alcohol.
    B. Motivation: Want / Need: To win each chess game, but also to make deeper connections romantically with a man.
    C. Mask: Base Negative Emotion / Public Mask: Negative emotion is spending too much time worrying about potential outcomes. Public mask is her ability to act confident in public.
    D. Weaknesses: Falls into depression easily.
    E. Triggers: seeing Alma drink and losing to top player.
    F. Coping Mechanism: Drinking and pills
    Alma:
    A. Situational: Hope / Fear: To be accepted by society and those close to her (namely Beth). Fears loneliness and rejection.
    B. Motivation: Want / Need: To play piano for fun and to have a significant other; Needs companionship, whether romantic or platonic.
    C. Mask: Base Negative Emotion / Public Mask: Base emotion is sadness for negative treatment in life from others. Lives for Beth. Asks her questions and gives advice. It’s a mask to cover up her vulnerability.
    D. Weaknesses: Insecure about her ability to function independently.
    E. Triggers: Rejection from significant other puts her into depression.
    F. Coping Mechanism: Drinks herself to death (Hepatitis).
