Home Work
What I learned doing this assignment is how to analyze and zero in on my main character’s internal and external journey.
My main character is Jolyn Robichaux, a housewife in the 1960’s with no business experience, thrown into a bind after she realizes that her deceased husband took out a business loan just before his death that puts her house at risk unless she can turn the struggling business into a profit. By the end of the script, she has turns it into a multimillion dollar corporation.
Internal Journey:
From feeling a lack of confidence to succeed in running a business.
External Journey
From an inexperienced manager who struggles to earn respect to winning the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1975 and turning the business into a multimillion dollar corporation.
Old Ways
A loyal housewife wanting more out of life, but realizing the limitations of the 1960s. Settling into and trying to adapt to the restrictive lifestyle of a housewife. Feeling stuck, she smiles when you feels like crying.
New Ways
Confidently taking on the challenges of leading her company. Standing up and overcoming obstacles in her way. Overcoming the stigma that a woman, much less a Black woman is not suitable to be CEO of a company.
