Creating Terrifying Horror Scripts

This class met my expectations. I wanted to learn how to create empathy and horror that the audience will feel. The course kept me on my toes with a lesson every two days. That's why I enjoy taking ScreenwritingU courses--they push me, and one thing I don't like is falling behind. I have written 5 screenplays taking Hal's classes and they are all great. Did not like the new lesson format though.

This is my second time around with the Horror class and the new skills are remarkable. These insights give us a blueprint for creating new depths, surprises and variety in the mayhem we envision. It's easy to lop off a head with a chainsaw, building up the tension beforehand requires a scalpel and that's what we get here.

Hal presents the whole package. This course does everything but write the script. From monster and character development, and setup and emotional sequencing. When complete, you walk away with a ready to write outline that is second to none.

This class takes you step by step through creating a horror script that will sell. I can't recommend this class enough if you want to make your mark in the horror film world.

This class teaches you not only various ways to scare people, but how to do so in ways that build from apprehension to hysteria along with every horrifying feeling in-between! As well as how best to organize your ideas for maximum effect. Includes examples from popular horror films like The Pledge and It Follows. Don't be scared, it's a great class to take!

A tremendous course that guides you through the development process of a solid horror premise and story outine and teaches you all the industry standard devices needed to make your screenplay marketable and most of all at a profit! Thanks for sharing the wisdom!

The way the course builds upon each previous skill is very effective at helping me/us see how to look deeper into how I/we write terrifying horror scripts.

I have always found great value in Hal's models and have revisited this course multiple times, each time gaining new insights. As I work on rewriting one of my horror scripts, I've decided to revisit the course to incorporate the high-speed rewriting techniques I’ve learned at ScreenwritingU.
