    1. What I learned doing this assignment is: Simplicity in sets may not detract from the drama and intent of the movie.

    1. Part 1. Evaluating ideas

    A. Most of my ideas were based on older movies or news events: Boy scouts trapped in a cave, Survivors of a plane crash in a remote area, etc. One, however, is more challenging: A 16-year-old girl in a hospital room with unknown diagnoses but with serious disease writes a journal. This can be done with minimal locations, hospital room, bedroom at home, and a few car scenes on dates.

    B. Home-schooled girl stricken with life threatening condition, has high ambitions to be a poet, keeps a journal which becomes a character in the movie—one who shares her despair and who gives her hope. Periods of remission allow romance and fulfillment in life.

    C. She is unique in that she longs for a boy to love, someone she can be devoted to, and with such dedication and unity can come great heights of achievement and happiness. This is counter-culture for women today.

    2. Part 2. Adjust a produced movie

TITLE: The Secrete: Dare to Dream

A single mother of 3 prepares for an oncoming hurricane.

    COVID Version

    A. People. It already has those 4 plus the stranger who shows up to help them and the mother of her deceased husband

    B. Stunts. Tree following into the house. No people involved.

    C. Extras. Can eliminate all of those.

    D. Wardrobe. Ok here as is

    E. Hair and make-up. OK here as well

    F. Kids and animals: 3 kids. A teenage girl, a 12-year-old boy, and girl about 6. The story could be adjusted to do without the 6-year-old.

    G. Quarantine. Require all to be vaccinated as well.

Assignment for Lesson 5: The Character Journey

I learned in this lesson that all characters can have a journey of their own. And that there is a sequence that makes the journey structured. C, B, and Dr.

Beginning: C in hospital room, “Boy am I popular” looks normal

    Turning point: Diagnosis

Midpoint: Reckless car ride with friends, demands to be taken home. “Stop this! I have not … to die on the freeway”

    Dilemma: To adopt

Turning point 2: results not favorable

    Dilemma: not proceeding with dialysis

Climax: Outburst (alone) with Dr. (tenure)

    Ending: meets loving Grandmother
