It is doing what he does better and will continue for a very long time until death does it part on the sixth birthday

    2. Use AI to generate a version of your 5-act Structure. For this Prompt, the word “Requirements” means the things you are wholly committed to and need as part of the Pilot structure. For example, I knew my Teaser scene and the final Cliffhanger. Those two were requirements for my Pilot.

Please create the beats of a TV series Pilot 5-Act Structure, including turning points, for [Format/Genre] with the Pilot being [Pilot Logline] with [Characters].

The Pilot aims to set up the journey and engage audiences to watch the entire series. It must deliver an engaging “Inciting Incident” of the whole TV series.

Definition of Turning Point: A surprising major twist at the end of an Act. It will change things for one or more characters and/or the plot.

And please honor the [Requirements] that I need for this Pilot.

    5-Act Structure =

Teaser: What opening scene presents a compelling and dramatic hook that sets the tone, introduces a character doing something intriguing, ends with a twist, and compels us to watch the episode?

1ST ACT: Introduce the world and main characters as they look on the surface.

    Turning Point:

2ND ACT: How is the conflict that leads to the Midpoint introduced?

Turning Point: What Midpoint twist will reveal the intriguing future of this show?

3RD ACT: With the Midpoint twist, the characters are reeling. How does this uncertainty reveal more profound layers of the characters?

    Turning Point:

4TH ACT: What major complications come from the character’s efforts to resolve the uncertainty, and how does that make things worse?

    Turning Point:

5TH ACT: How does this final act lock the characters into the journey of this show so that there is no going back?

Cliffhanger: What completely unexpected twist or major reveal will shock us to the core and make us want to watch the next episode?

    Format/Genre = 1 hour Drama/Family/Animation

Pilot Logline = An injured pigeon SKYY LAR who mentors young pigeons about survival in the urban environment, aided by a girl with a prosthetic leg, unites birds and humans against the Beauty Industry’s environmental harm, embodying resilience and unity in a battle for ecological justice amidst the city’s urban sprawl.

    Requirements =

Teaser Scene: SKYY LAR takes a solo freedom flight over the London Eye. A Falcon ambushes SKYY LAR, and the birds engage in a fierce aerial battle, showing SKYY LAR’s resilience.

Turning Point: SKYY LAR evades an oncoming car which knocks down the Falcon.

Act 1: SKYY LAR is a Squaddie (Squadron Leader) who mentors five hundred young pigeons about urban survival. SKYY LAR goes to the market for sustenance, gets its legs trapped in synthetic waste, and cannot break free. Three seasons pass. EMMA discovers SKYY LAR and intervenes. She cannot save one of SKYY LAR’S legs.

Turning Point: SKYY LAR loses its left leg.

    Act 2:

EMMA takes SKYY LAR to her home and constructs a prosthetic leg. While EMMA investigates the source and properties of the synthetic waste, SKYY LAR returns to its original home under the train bridges, and RAPHAEL tells it rented out SKYY LAR’s roost/place.

Word travels around the community that SKYY LAR returned alive with a Marvel fake leg which sparks interest. Fifteen thousand pigeons with one lost leg show concern and wish SKYY LAR well, discussing what lies ahead or the future. SKYY LAR’s original flock and many diverse birds visit SKYY LAR. RAVEN arrives from Pembrokeshire Coast to spend the weekend and with an enticing proposition for SKYY LAR to form and lead a bird coalition against environmental harm.

Turning Point: 20,000 pigeons, each with a leg lost to environmental harm, call on SKYY LAR to show concern and solidarity.

Midpoint: SKYY LAR agrees to form and lead a birds’ coalition.

    Act 3:

    Coalition Formation:

SKYY LAR says, oh my God, there are 20,000 brethren, all without a leg. It asks why the invalid pigeons have come to it. The pigeons say they have lost a leg like SKYY LAR and live with the pain. They are not so lucky to have prosthetics. They say SKYY LAR is one step better and should use the opportunity to bring about change in the community. They support RAVEN that SKYY LAR should form a coalition and lead the community to combat the environmental harm before it swallows all their offspring.

In the open area of London Fields Park, SKYY LAR acknowledges the scale of the injury and suffering witnessed among the 20,000 pigeons. It expresses empathy and solidarity.

SKYY LAR identifies and recruits RAVEN as mentors, key pigeons, and other avian species with leadership potential or unique skills to form the core group. The key avian includes birds affected by or showing resilience in adversity. Each core member has a specific role based on their strengths, such as scouting, communication, medical assistance, or advocacy.

The coalition selects a central location within London Fields Park as their meeting and planning hub. When it snowed or rained heavily, they would congregate at the top of the London Fields Estate Tower block across Lansdown Drive. The Council sealed the top of the Tower block where a large water tank and a television antenna are mounted. The cluster of trees in the park offers some privacy and protection during the summer. The two bases close to each other symbolize their cause and practical space for organizing, training, and strategizing. SKYY LAR recruits RAPHAEL. There was skepticism among birds about joining the Rebellion, saying they could not make an impact. SKYY LAR collaborates with EMMA to broaden the movement with human allies.

DR. AVA GREEN joins the movement and offers technological advice SKYY LAR establishes a communication network among the birds and utilizes bird calls, visual signals, or other means of bird communication to spread messages and coordinate actions. The aim is to ensure rapid information dissemination and the coalition members’ quick mobilization. SKKY LAR launches a widespread recruitment campaign across various boroughs of London. The campaign targets birds affected by environmental issues and emphasizes unity and collective action.

SKKY LAR professes to use dramatic displays, storytelling, and direct engagement to inspire and attract new members, highlighting the coalition’s purpose and successes. SKKY LAR will educate on environmental hazards, survival tactics, and the importance of ecological balance. It will also train birds in specific roles, enhancing their effectiveness in the coalition’s activities. The result will be to empower the avian community with knowledge and skills, fostering a sense of agency and commitment.

The Rebellion will embark on prominent rescue and protection missions, starting with smaller, achievable targets to build confidence and public support. SKKY LAR’S team rescues birds caught in pollution, cleans up small regions of environmental hazard, or disrupts harmful human activities nonviolently. They build momentum.

SKKY LAR will seek alliances with other wildlife groups, environmental organizations, and sympathetic humans like Emma and expand the coalition’s influence and resources.

They create a diverse support network that can offer various forms of assistance, from logistical support to advocacy. With each successful mission, leverage media attention (animal or human) to highlight the coalition’s cause, attracting more support and putting pressure on responsible parties. The action will establish the alliance as a significant movement in London, capable of instigating real change and effectively protecting avian habitats. The team maps pollution sources. SKYY LAR embarks on an operation to rescue birds harmed in a river and build momentum. The Rebellion embarks on its first campaign to infiltrate a Beauty Industry facility.

Turning Point: SKYY LAR and allies uncover a global conspiracy and become a target.

    Act 4:

SKYY LAR and EMMA plan their first move/campaign against the Beauty Industry. The group faces internal conflicts as they debate the best action against the Beauty Industry. SKYY LAR and EMMA devise a daring plan to infiltrate a Beauty company’s Headquarters and gather evidence. They execute their plan, facing many obstacles and close calls. Just as they think they have succeeded in gathering evidence, they did cover the Company has covered up their tracks, leaving them with nothing and becoming future targets. SKYY LAR takes a much-deserved freedom flight and gets ambushed by a Falcon, and an aerial battle ensues.

Turning Point: SKYY LAR takes a much-deserved freedom flight and gets ambushed by a Falcon hit by an oncoming car in the heart of London’s cityscape.

    Act 5:

    Turning Point:

Cliffhanger: RAPHAEL’s loyalty is questioned as he
compromises, casting doubt on the coalition’s success and hinting at future
    conflicts

Lock In: After losing the left leg, forming and leading birds and human alliance against the Beauty Industry, infiltrating the Industry’s facility, and embarking on a mission/s to rescue birds harmed by chemical spills in a nearby river, SKYY LAR feels alive again. It is doing what he does better and will continue for a very long time until death does it part on the sixth birthday.

    JP Serra’s Pilot Structure

What I learned doing this assignment is that a TV show episode has 5 acts and that an act ends with a turning point.

    1. Present the first draft of your pilot Acts.

    Teaser:

    • Essence: While escorting a mineworker through the forest, Urnek and his comrade are ambushed by a horde of grimlopes, shadowy creatures known for their greed.
    • Turning Point: Breaking from their usual motive of stealing gold, the grimlopes unexpectedly kidnap the mineworker, signaling a sinister shift in their behavior.

    Act 1:

    • Essence: Lionel, the town’s blacksmith, finds himself in a heated argument with Urnek regarding the town’s safety measures.
    • Turning Point: Amidst their dispute, the automatic cannon Lionel is repairing misfires, striking the earth and uncovering a mysterious oil that seeps out from the ground.

    Act 2:

    • Essence: Lionel surprises his son, Cody, by completing Cody’s automatic cannon project. However, they discover the project in ruins.
    • Turning Point/Midpoint: Heartbroken, Cody flees and accidentally falls into the mysterious oil, causing some drops to fall on the shattered metal pieces. The pieces take a life of their own, revealing the oil’s magical properties.

    Act 3:

    • Essence: Seeking understanding, Lionel invites Citrine, known for her knowledge of magic, hoping she can shed light on the oil’s power.
    • Turning Point: Driven by curiosity rather than caution, Citrine animates a metal butterfly with the oil. Lionel, fearing the unknown implications, destroys the creation and bans further experimentation.

    Act 4:

    • Essence: To bolster the town’s security, King Marcus decides to significantly increase the guard for the mineworkers, hoping to deter further attacks.
    • Turning Point: Sylvanor, the vengeful druid, observes the town’s movements through his spy bat. Seeing an opportunity, he orders his entire army to launch a surprise attack on the town, aiming to capture the mineworkers all at once.

    Act 5:

    • Essence: Lionel tucks Cody into bed, reassuring him about the town’s defenses and their capability to ward off any outside threats.
    • Lock In: In a bold move, Citrine stealthily collects all of Cody’s discarded toys. Using the magical oil, she breathes life into one, hinting at her plan to harness the oil’s power for purposes unknown.

    2. Use AI to generate a version of your 5-Act Structure.

    Teaser:

Scene: Urnek, the brave but simple-hearted warrior, is escorting a miner back to camp through a dense, misty forest at dusk. The atmosphere is tense, hinting at danger lurking.

Action: Suddenly, they are ambushed by a horde of Sylvanor’s minions, eerie creatures that blend the grotesque and the mystical. A frantic battle ensues.

Twist: As Urnek fights valiantly, the miner is abducted by the creatures, disappearing into the fog. Urnek is left shouting defiantly into the night, setting a tone of danger and adventure.

    1ST ACT:

World Introduction: Gemvale, a village renowned for its technological defenses against the wilderness’s dangers, thanks to Lambert’s genius. We see daily life, hinting at tensions between reliance on technology and the magical.

Character Introductions: Lambert is seen working in his forge, crafting with a mysterious silver oil. Mirelle, the sorceress, practices her magic in secrecy, hinting at her depth and motivations.

Turning Point: Lambert discovers the mystical properties of the silver oil by accident when a scrap piece animates briefly before crumbling.

    2ND ACT:

Conflict Introduction: Lambert, driven by curiosity but skeptical of magic, consults Mirelle about the oil. The interaction lays the groundwork for their complex relationship, balancing skepticism with wonder.

Midpoint Build-up: The village is shown to be under constant threat from Sylvanor’s forces, emphasizing the stakes and Lambert’s motivation to protect it without resorting to magic.

Turning Point (Midpoint): Mirelle, intrigued by the oil, secretly uses it to animate one of Lambert’s child’s metal toys—a war figurine. It moves, a moment of wonder and potential.

    3RD ACT:

Characters Reeling: Lambert and Mirelle debate the implications of this discovery, revealing their inner conflicts—Lambert’s fear of the unknown and Mirelle’s desire to push magical boundaries.

Deepening Layers: Their debate is interrupted by a spy bat, hinting at Sylvanor’s awareness of their experiments. This raises the stakes, showing no secret is safe.

Turning Point: Mirelle, undeterred, animates a metal butterfly, showcasing the beautiful potential of their discovery. Lambert, overwhelmed by fear of the consequences, destroys it and bans further experimentation, highlighting his inner turmoil and overcautiousness.

    4TH ACT:

Major Complications: The destruction of the butterfly creates a rift between Lambert and Mirelle, each questioning the other’s motives and vision for the future.

Efforts to Resolve: They attempt to hide their discovery from Sylvanor and the village, leading to missteps that draw more attention from Sylvanor’s spies.

Turning Point: Sylvanor, intrigued by the potential of the silver oil, plans to seize it for his own dark purposes, revealing a new threat to both the protagonists and the village.

    5TH ACT:

Journey Lock-In: Despite their differences, Lambert and Mirelle realize they must work together to protect their discovery from Sylvanor, setting them on a path of uneasy alliance.

MODULE 3 LESSON 3 – CREATING YOUR PILOT STRUCTURE.

Hiram Taylor. What I learned doing this lesson is that I now see the entire pilot episode in my mind and on paper. It still needs to define minor points and clarity. But there is a show here.

    TEASER:

ESSENCE: Lily, a news reporter, and Eric, her cameraman, attend Madam Rosa’s healing event and Eric secretly films it to expose her on the nightly news. Lily knocks the walker away from an old man acting like a cripple being healed by Madam Rose, proving he’s a fake, and he runs out. Lily speaks into the camera and announces that Madam Rosa is a phony.

TURNING POINT: Madam Rosa screams for her henchmen to capture Lily and Eric and to get that tape. Eric and Lily escape.

    ACT ONE:

ESSENCE: Lily shows the footage on the news but is interrupted by the head anchor Janet who brings on Madam Rosa for a rebuttal. Madam comes across as a sweet little old lady trying to give hope into poor people’s lives. This embarrasses Lily live on stage. Lily and Janet hate each other. Later, Eric asks Lily to marry him. She turns him down.

TURNING POINT: Janet sets up Eric to discover Lily and Phil, their boss, kissing. They are having an affair. Eric leaves in a huff. Sweet Madam Rose, pretending to help Lily to reveal a real fake medium gives Lily the card of Mystic Rivina Swift.

    ACT TWO:

ESSENCE: Eric is forced to attend Rivina’s event as Lily’s cameraman. Their relationship is icy. Lily is determined to prove Rivina is a fake. As Eric films, Rivina goes into a trance. She is also being recorded by her husband Raymond. In her trance, Rivina calls on an entity spirit from another realm of existence who speaks through her.

MIDPOINT: An orb appears and suddenly audience members start turning into light and disappearing. Lily and Eric get it all on film.

TURNING POINT: Rivina is no fake and Lily has the proof.

    ACT THREE:

ESSENCE: At the station, Janet refuses to let Lily show Eric’s footage on the news. Phil does not believe any of it happened. It has to be fake. Lily and Eric are devastated. Janet coos in delight because she won.

TURNING POINT: Rivina shows up and demands the film. She does not remember anything that happened at the event.

    ACT FOUR:

ESSENCE: Lily and Eric fill Rivina in on the details of what happened. Rivina reveals that her husband Raymond has disappeared. She is convinced that she was possessed by an evil spirit during the event, but says someone else must have called the spirit into this world. Someone human is involved. Eric is now determined more than ever to get the footage onto the news. He locks himself in the glass room with the editor and they start to watch the film footage.

TURNING POINT: In the editing room, the two men watch and edit the film. Phil and Janet are furious. Rivina is overcome with grief. Lily consoles her. Suddenly in the editing room as the orb appears on screen, the glass room becomes filled with light.

LOCK-IN: Lily, Rivina, Janet and Phil stand outside the glass room and watch in horror as Eric and the other editor turn into light and disappear.

Hiram Taylor – Module 3 Lesson 3 AI part 2:

What I learned was that AI did not give me the answers I needed because I could not get it to understand enough of the structure. Example below:

    Pilot Episode: “Vanishing Act”

    TEASER

    INT. NEWS STUDIO – NIGHT

Lily (30s, sharp) and Eric (30s, cameraman) huddle near a hidden camera in a deserted news studio. Lily nervously adjusts her earpiece.

    LILY (Whispering) Ready?

    ERIC (Whispering) Born ready.

On the main stage, MADAM ROSA (70s, deceptively sweet) smiles radiantly at JANET (40s, sharp, smug) the news anchor.

JANET Madam Rosa, so many people have been touched by your healing powers. Can you share your secret with our viewers?

MADAM ROSA (Beaming) It’s all about faith, dear. A touch of divine energy…

Lily throws Eric a “can you believe this?” look. Suddenly, the lights flicker and a demonic GROWL echoes through the studio. A shadowy figure lunges at Madam Rosa.

    LILY (Shouting) Cut! Cut!

Pandemonium erupts as the crew scrambles. Lily and Eric flee as the demonic figure lets out another chilling roar.

    FADE OUT.

    ACT ONE

    INT. NEWSROOM – DAY

Lily and Eric nervously edit their footage. Phil (50s, gruff, news director) approaches, arms crossed.

PHIL What was that stunt in the studio?

Lily explains their investigation of Madam Rosa’s fake healings. Phil scoffs.

PHIL Dismissed. Nobody wants to see ghost hunters on primetime.

    Janet enters, radiating fake concern.

JANET Phil, darling, they might be on to something. Remember Mr. Johnson’s “miracle cure”? Turns out he was taking steroids.

Phil sighs, considering. Janet shoots Lily a triumphant smirk.

    TURNING POINT

The news report airs. Lily exposes Madam Rosa’s fake healings with undeniable proof. The segment ends with a scathing critique.

LILY (V.O.) The truth is, Madam Rosa is nothing more than a con artist.

    END ACT ONE

    ACT TWO

INT. RIVINA SWIFT’S SEMINAR HALL – NIGHT

Lily and Eric, begrudgingly attending on Janet’s “tip,” watch Rivina Swift (40s, ethereal, haunted eyes) perform a channeling ritual.

RIVINA (Eyes closed, chanting) I connect with the higher realms…

Suddenly, a blinding light engulfs a person in the audience. They scream, then vanish in a shower of golden sparks. Panic erupts.

    TURNING POINT (WITH A TWIST)

Lily and Eric rush to help a young woman trapped in the light. As they reach for her, she disappears too.

Raymond (40s, Rivina’s husband) steps forward, calm and collected.

RAYMOND They’ve ascended. They’ve reached the other side.

Lily stares, confused and horrified. This isn’t news anymore, it’s something far more terrifying.

    END ACT TWO

    ACT THREE

Lily and Eric confront Rivina backstage. Rivina confesses, terrified, she can’t control the light. Lily doesn’t believe her.

LILY You’re a fraud just like Madam Rosa!

Rivina breaks down, revealing visions of a monstrous entity feeding off the light.

RIVINA It devours souls! I can’t stop it!

Lily grapples with the truth. Could this be connected to Madam Rosa? Is there something more sinister at play?

    TURNING POINT

Eric notices a demonic symbol on Raymond’s hand. As Eric confronts him, Raymond’s eyes turn black.

ERIC He’s not who he seems!

Raymond lunges, revealing monstrous fangs. Lily throws a book at him, giving Eric time to escape.

    END ACT THREE

    ACT FOUR

Lily and Eric race back to the newsroom, desperate to warn Phil and Janet. The studio is empty. Lily notices a news report playing on a monitor. It’s Janet, live on air. She’s with Madam Rosa.

JANET (Smug) Lily’s been spreading lies about me and Madam Rosa. But the truth will prevail!

Madam Rosa smiles, her eyes glowing ominously. She touches Janet’s shoulder. Janet screams as she’s enveloped in light.

    TURNING POINT

Lily and Eric burst into the film editor’s room. The editors are staring at a monitor – a news report showing Lily desperately calling out to them for help.
