KZ Finished Act 2
What I learned doing the assignment is to keep going and to avoid worrying about whether it’s funny.
Rate use of the High Speed Writing Rules:
- Rule 1: Use empowering self talk. Cheer yourself on. B. Some use.
- Rule 2: Understand writing in drafts. A. Consistently use.
- Rule 3: Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts. B. Some use.
- Rule 4: Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers. A. Consistently use.
- Rule 5: Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to ever stall out. B. Some use.
- Rule 6: Even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future! A. Consistently use.
I found that when I hit a scene that I had not imagined as thoroughly in the outline, I stalled out a bit. But then I remembered that it’s just supposed to be 30% quality, and that was liberating.
My first draft is coming out pretty well, and I’m wondering if that will be a hindrance. Maybe it’s better to write a rougher rough draft so that it’s easier to change. I’ll find out as I write future drafts.

Can not post so, I’m putting this here:
BWTV-AI Module 4 – Lesson 3: Write First Draft of Act 2!
Sylvia Finished Act 2
What I learned doing this assignment is…it doesn’t take long at all to extend the act. I do catch myself adding in more and then stop and look back at the outline parts. I work to strengthen it as I extend the page. I am adding more brief dialogue than expected. But it’s making the Outline HW stronger. Each act gets easier and easier as I use the speed writing rules. I am excited to push through until I have time to reread everything to see how/if it makes sense.

Once again the reply button is at the bottom and it doesn’t allow me to respond.
What I learned doing this assignment is, never plan for anything to turn out right.
Rule 1: empowering self talk – it’s the only way I can get through this, working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week at my job temporarily.
Rule 2: Still on first draft. Following directions.
Rule 3: speed over quality – how can I do anything else?
Rule 4: not have all answers – I went this way and surprising things popped into my writing
Rule 5: keep moving – I have barely a half hour to write a day. This will change soon tho.
Rule 6: Create in the future. Yes

Lenore Bechtel finished Act 2
Rule 1: C. I don’t really think I need to start using empowering self talk because I have confidence without it. Because of doing the empowerment with Hal on Saturdays, I do tell myself before I start writing, “I’m very confident that writing Act 2 today will be very easy for me.” However, I don’t bring my right and left hands together the breathe the thought Into my body because I don’t want to take the time for it. I’d rather get on with my writing.
That said, if the time comes when I’m tackling something I don’t have confidence about, I’m glad to know the empowerment process, and I’ll definitely use it.
Rule 2: A
Rule 3: A
Rule 4: A
Rule 5: A
Rule 6: A
What I learned from this assignment is speed writing truly does get a lot of work done quickly. I wrote nonstop for four hours and three minutes and finished a 14-page second act. I now have 39 pages in my script.

Sunil Pappu Finished Act 2
“What I learned doing this assignment is… to set a timer and write to my outline to complete my second act in one session. It was exciting to get the first draft done in record time. I was able to follow all the rules of high-speed writing consistently.”
• Rule 1: A. At the start of every writing session, I empowered myself to be confident and capable of finishing my first draft. When I got stuck or felt I needed more answers I cheered myself to keep moving forward.
• Rule 2: A. I lowered my standards and set a 30% quality for my first draft knowing I would improve it over successive drafts.
• Rule 3: A. Consistently challenged myself to write more pages in less time and improved my speed. Choosing speed over quality for my first draft. I wrote 5 pages in my first session, 10 in the second and 15 in my third…
• Rule 4: A. Whenever I felt stuck or needed to know more and felt I had to do research I told myself to just write knowing I would find the answers later.
• Rule 5: A. challenged myself to keep moving forward whenever I felt stuck or stalled.
• Rule 6: B. told myself that I will create something that I know can get better in the future. Jotted down ideas that came to make improvements later.

I learned it’s good to write in a group setting where you are constantly encouraged.
Rule 1: Use empowering self-talk. Cheer yourself on. I consistently cheer myself on. In fact, I always feel I’m doing a great job.
Rule 2: Understand writing in drafts. Consistently. I know that once I get feedback, I’ll be able to improve my story.
Rule 3: Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts. Consistently. It’s easier to rewrite than to write.
Rule 4: Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers. Consistently. I’ve never had all the answers when I start. And probably won’t have them all after 15 drafts. You always come up with new ideas.
Rule 5: Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to stall out. Consistently. Don’t give up!
Rule 6: even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future. Consistently. You’ll always find ways to make things work better.

Jeffrey Alan Chase Finished Act 2
What I learned doing this assignment is what a pleasure it is to know that I worked hard to put together a great outline and that it now is making my pilot writing come alive, both with the ideas already in my outline, and NEW ideas that are popping up, which make the story even stronger.
Rule 1: Use empowering self-talk. Cheer yourself on. – ALWAYS USE
Rule 2: Understand writing in drafts – ALWAYS USE
Rule 3: Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts – ALWAYS USE
Rule 4: Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers – ALWAYS USE
Rule 5: Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to ever stall out – ALWAYS USE
Rule 6: Even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future! – ALWAYS USE

Bob’s Module 4
What I learned: It took a bit of effort to get the hang of high speed writing but it worked very well. A breakthrough for sure.
I wrote non-stop for the complete script and did not pause to post to the forum after each lesson but I did read the lesson before doing the Act.

Gayla Betts Finished Act 2
What I learned doing this assignment is that I really like high speed writing. I do think the key is having a kick-ass outline to work with.
Rule 1: A – Use empowering self talk. Cheer yourself on. Rule 2: A – Understand writing in drafts. Rule 3: A – Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts. Rule 4: B – Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers. THIS ONE IS TOUGH, BUT I JUST MADE NOTES AND KEPT GOING. Rule 5: A. Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to ever stall out. Rule 6: A. Even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future!-

Barbe’s Finished Act 2
What I learned doing this assignment is that following the HSW Rules is incredibly helpful.
• Rule 1: Use empowering self-talk. A. Consistently use.
• Rule 2: Understand writing in drafts. A. Consistently use.
• Rule 3: Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts. A. Consistently use.
• Rule 4: Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers. A. Consistently use. This one is soooo hard to do. But I left notes instead of trying to figure it all out.
• Rule 5: Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to ever stall out. A. Consistently use. (Love this!)
• Rule 6: Even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future! A. Consistently use. (Love the way the brain works!)
