JP Serra Finished Act 2
What I learned doing this assignment is that the high speed process is the way to go! While writing my second act, I realized that one of the previous scene in the first act didn’t need to be introduced this early. I just went back to that scene and deleted the few paragraphs where the character appeared. Fortunately, I had not spent any time writing those paragraphs.
Rate your use so far on each of the High Speed Writing Rules:
- A. Consistently use.
- B. Some use.
- C. Need to start using.
- B for Rule 1: Use empowering self talk. Cheer yourself on.
- A for Rule 2: Understand writing in drafts.
- B for Rule 3: Choose speed over quality for EARLY drafts.
- B for Rule 4: Allow yourself to start (or continue) without all the answers.
- B for Rule 5: Keep moving. Don’t allow yourself to ever stall out.
- A for Rule 6: Even if you can’t create it now, you will be able to at some point in the future!
The insight I had was that I can keep working on high speed writing even when I’m tired because I don’t care about quality. This makes me be more productive. Before, I thought I needed to be in my best possible shape to write because everything I had to right needed to be the best I could write.
