Hari’s Title, Concept and Character Structure.
My Vision: I want to write screenplays that enable me to work with like minded creative people in the industry to produce profound movies that will have a long lasting positive effect on the world.
What I learned…Originally I thought the antagonist would be the Alien race, but now I wonder if I should zero in on one of them as the antagonist of the story.
Title: Water, Inc.
Concept: A suspended cop discovers that a multinational corporation’s attempted takeover of a small town’s water supply is actually a front for an alien invasion of the Earth.
Character Structure: Protagonist vs Antagonist
0-
Great idea. And it draws attention to the real problem of for-profit multinationals taking over city/county water supplies, causing serious problems for the people.
The concept sort of reminds me of THE ARRIVAL (1996) with Charlie Sheen in which aliens are contributing heavily to global warming with the idea of killing out humans and taking over the much hotter planet to which they are accustomed.

Drew Foerster’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
MY VISION IS (living as if it is already fact): I am an award-winning produced Hollywood screenwriter with an excellent reputation that is represented by an outstanding manager and whose life is filled with creativity!
What I learned from doing this assignment is…I can write this movie! Focusing on the Character Structure has already helped me to discover some ideas. I’m excited to start developing the characters.
Title: MISSING TYME
Genre: SCI-FI/THRILLERLogline: When a FATHER becomes a suspect in his daughter TYME’S (10) disappearance, he goes on the run through the dark underbelly of online alien abduction chat rooms, conspiracy theory groups, and secret abduction survivor clubs, convinced that she was abducted by aliens… But is this a fantasy created by his mental illness or is there truly something darker and otherworldly going on?<s></s>
Short pitch: THE FUGITIVE meets UFOs
Tell us the Character Structure you’ve chosen: PROTAGONIST vs. ANTAGONIST

Great idea. Loved THE FUGITIVE. And the idea of alien abductions actually sounds realistic from the movies I’ve seen about them. And the online conspiracy theory chat rooms it right up today’s alley.
Gotta see this movie.

Rob Ingalls’ Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
MY VISION:
To be a Talented writer that delivers quality fast, with the film industry seeking me out.
WIL: Stay away from ensemble cast (at least for now)
==========================================
Title: NIRVANA GOLD
Concept:
A giant Buddha statue made of pure gold is stolen by thieves who tunnel underneath and hollow it out.
Character Structure: Dramatic Triangle

Lynn Vincentnathan’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
VISION: I am determined to become a great screenwriter capable of getting my screenplays in various genres produced into movies that inspire vast audiences to mitigate climate change.
I LEARNED that Rom-Coms have a different character structure (I’ve just now been reading a book on writing Rom-Coms, which says the same thing), so this is really really going to help me in developing a great outline. I would have been in deep water over my head without swimming lessons otherwise.
TITLE: Weathering It
CONCEPT: Two college students try to overcome family fights about global warming and get married during the worst ever Texas freeze.
CHARACTER STRUCTURE: Rom-Com with Two Characters Owning the Story
+1 -
Amy’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
Vision: I want to become known as an expert in the family-friendly genre and make a full-time living as a screenwriter.
What I learned from doing this assignment is when I read the empowerment statement I really did feel like I could create an outline that turns into an amazing story.
Title: Unroyally in Love
Concept: When a princess learns that she’s not really a princess, she’s forced to accept help from a neighboring country’s prince who she hates and the two find themselves unexpectedly drawn to each other.
Character Structure: Rom-Com
0-
I love family-friendly love stories. If we watch anything R we have to fast-forward thru those scenes or just not watch them in the 1st place, since the language is especially offensive to my husband. I’ve been watching Hallmark channel romances recently to get ideas for my own RomCom — some are fairly good, others not as compelling.

MODULE 2 LESSON ONE
FRAN’S TITLE, CONCEPT, SENTENCE STRUCTURE
MY VISION: I want to write great movies. Movies that are magical, movies that move people and tell the truth. I want to write movies that stars will want to be in.
WHAT I LEANED: I’m still in limbo on a lot of things here. But I’m plugging through and continuing on the path to get my scripts finished and out. I know I can do this. I’ve known this for quite awhile now. And I now have some support in my efforts. Never had that before. Plus, the fact, I do believe in myself. I never had that when I first started. But I do know now, with several pieces of writing under my belt and published, and I just got an offer to write another piece, historical piece from someone who has contact with a magazine who wants it done. I accepted. I’M ON A ROLL!
TITLE: WINTER’S LOST LOVE/ I also like LOST IN A MOMENT OF TIME I’m keeping both, deciding later
CONCEPT: DRAMA: The discovery of an old diary written by a friend of Czar Nicholas II’s daughter turns the doomed princess’s little known, tragic love story into a blockbuster Hollywood movie and an Oscar for its discoverer and screenwriter.
CHARACTER STRUCTURE: DRAMATIC TRIANGLE
(This is Hallmark material. I’m going with that in my subconscious as I write this)0-
Sounds great. Is the diary by the friend of Anastasia? Or of a different daughter?
I remember seeing Anastasia on TV (the 1956 version with Ingrid Bergman and Yul Brynner) long ago. Loved it.
0-
The diary was written by a friend Valentina. I also found a diary that was published by Olga the Grand Duchess. It’s very interesting. With what I also found on the net, I can make a nice little dramatic triangle with the outside story of the Screenwriter and her Director husband who are having marital problems. Work and his extramarital affairs are getting in the way. She finds her self taking a hint from what happened with Olga and to not take it anymore and go on on her own, with her head held high. Life’s too short message. Remember. The Romanov family was murdered. I’m glad you liked it. This morning I was thinking maybe I took on too much with my trying to finish my other script in the meantime. Olga was a complicated figure of history. She loved her cousin, but he was part of the Rasputin murder which her mother was so angered over. He was banished from court and she went to work as a nurse to care for the wounded soldiers. There she fell in love again with another Dmitri, I think to get back at her mother and he was not so nice a guy. In the end she died a sad sad figure. I hope I can convey that to my audience. THank you.

Renee’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
Vision: I will work hard to become a well-respected writer that has my movies produced and has enough work to keep me busy and keep the lights on.
What I learned from doing this assignment is how powerful empowerment statements are and that I really do feel like I can do the task at hand and excel at it.
Title: Something’s in the Woods
Concept: A member of a local search and rescue group finds herself in need of rescuing when she encounters a mysterious mountain creature while searching for a missing girl.
Character Structure: Protagonist v. Antagonist

WIM2 – Dana’s Title, Concept and Character Structure

What I learned during this assignment:
Title: The Smelting Pot / The Custodian
Genre: Thriller
Concept: Kidnapped for ransom, a wealthy woman is held hostage in the smelting pot of an abandoned steel mill frequented by drug addicts and street gangs, and to survive, she must remain soundless and stay hidden until the ransom is paid or find a way to escape her captor known as The Custodian.

Oh, I agree with you. I’ve learned the outline procedure here, too. Titles, I like my titles, but my brain is still spitting title out. I started working on my outline today in fact. Just the prelims. I’m going to have to take a couple extra days myself. I like to be meticulous. I pays off to be. I have a producer who likes my one script. She’s too small to do it. But she loves it anyway and its going to help me get it to market. She said she loves my paying attention to detail. So, I’m going with that!

Paul’s Title, Concept and Character Structure
<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>My Vision: I am a writer/director/producer that writes and makes films of all kinds, and I am recognized by the industry as both a highly successful filmmaker and as a person that’s easy to work with.
What I learned from doing this assignment is how to choose the structure of the conflict between the main characters in a screenplay.
Title: The Invisible Terrorist
Concept
· Genre: Sci-Fi
· High Concept: A nameless villain uses masks to control the minds of the people he sends them to, in order to carry out terrorist acts through the U.S.
· Major Story Hook: Will the villain ever be revealed, and will he be stopped?
Character Structure: Protagonist Vs Antagonist

Subject Line: Monica’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
What I learned from doing this assignment is to use a more formal process to outline. Previously, I would have a whole bunch of notes of things I wanted to include in the script but not a formal outline. Hopefully, this breaks me of this bad habit because my way has only led to confusion and frustration!
Vision: I will continue to learn everything I can through all different media to apply what I learn to become the best screenwriter I can be. To be successful in getting my movies made and to win awards in the process.
2. Post your Title, and Concept to claim ownership of it.
Concept: A rogue Special Forces team steals an ancient artefact at the start of the first Iraq war to keep it safe from the hands of the New World Order who wants to use it to manipulate the timeline only to discover all timelines end in 2030.
Title: Time Guardians

Protagonist versus Antagonist.

Chris Blanchett’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
I am a brilliant, massively successful, professional screenwriter who writes incredible movies in a wide variety of genres which become instant-classics. I am respected by my professional peers and bring genuine, thought-provoking entertainment and uplifting emotions to hundreds of millions of movie-goers/watchers.
What I learned from this assignment is my (working) character structure.
Unwoke
After his politically incorrect rant accidentally goes viral, a timid office-worker becomes a modern day thought criminal to one half of the country and an unintentional hero to the other. Can he elude the clutches of the “woke” mob and successfully avoid sparking a second American civil war?
Character Structure: Protagonist versus Antagonist or Dramatic Triangle.
+1-
Very timely, great concept & title. Got to see the movie! Will it be a comedy, drama, or action/thriller?
I’m into “cli-fi” (climate fiction) and recently read & watched DON’TLOOK UP, a parody on the climate change debate/polarization. It’s also a satire on political polarization.
It got me to thinking about doing a climate change debate/polarization, not getting into (other) political issues, as sort of a parody on political polarization…. with a resolution at the end for the opposed lead/support characters in the story. And that led to my current project here, a RomCom.

I like the sound of this, Chris. It made me smile. There’s lots of potential for comedy in this.

Vic Valleau “Love Wrecked” Concept and Character Structure
VISION FOR SUCCESS: As a writer, I am an alchemist, turning the ordinary into gold.
Learned is: In past, I put off hard script decisions such as character structure. It’s more fun to just write and
speak thru following and expressing characters, letting the story unfold. That gets me into trouble with
endless re-writes. Takes belief, resolve and commitment to keep focus on big story questions. Before now,
I re-write to build in concept and character journey. Early on, but not nearly enough, I build Story structure.
TITLE: “Love Wrecked”
CONCEPT: 2 lifelong frenemies conflict. Harry “Knuckles” animal
magnetism unwittingly attracts his preacher buddy’s wife, Marion
the librarian.
3. Tell us the Character Structure you’ve chosen.
Buddy Movie or a
Romantic Triangle
Depends on how key/important wife is to plot

Lisa Long’s Title, Concept, and Character Structure
My Vision: I will do whatever it takes to be comfortable saying that I am a writer by creating impactful stories with amazing characters in order to sell my scripts.
What I learned from this assignment is to test out different concepts, titles, and pick a structure that will fit those two things.
Title: Chesapeake Girl
Concept: A 10-year-old aspiring dancer is abandoned by her mother with a father she’s never known to live with him above his restaurant on the Chesapeake Bay.
Character Structure: Dramatic Triangle
+1-
Hi, Lisa
Your concept sounds like another nice story. You’re good at writing about family. While you’re bringing them together, I’m ripping them apart. One my friends compared me to Stephen King after hearing my latest concept, but I don’t think he meant it as a compliment.
How’s Mary’s Wonderful Christmas coming?

Love to hear from you soon.

Dave Holloway’s Title, Concept and Character Structure
My vision: I would like to be a successful writer in Hollywood, with a number of successful movies to my credit that put forward a core belief about environmental, political, or personal development.
What I learned doing this assignment is that I have a buddy movie character structure rather than protagonist v. antagonist.
Title: The Last, Best Hope
Concept: Forty years in the future, two young Englishmen must cross an America that has divided into independent states based on primary vocation or social identity, and try to rescue one’s wife, who faces execution in a military state.
0-
Interesting dystopian idea, Dave. Are you a fellow Brit?
0-
I’m just a typical American mutt, Andrew. But I’ve been to Britain and Scotland and very much admire the people there and the countries they’ve created. Also, how can you be a writer and not respect English and Irish writers. I’ve been lucky enough to see the Cotswolds, the Lake District, and of course London. If you feel like it, I would love to hear your opinion later on about whether I have the two Englishmen talking in an authentic, believable way.

Wow! THE HANDMAID’S TALE meets THE HUNGER GAMES (sort of) meets what the stupid American media are criminogenically promoting as the coming SECOND CIVIL WAR in the US.
I was wondering how the latter could happen since political opposites live side-by-side as neighbors around the country, tho they do tend to be concentrated in various red and blue states and cities.
But I can definitely see this movie and want to see it.

FUGITIVE BRIDE–An assistant district attorney discovers that the woman he’s about to marry is living under an assumed name and wanted for murder.

EARTH’S FATE—A suicidal cop has one day to convince an alien not to destroy the human race.

Marcus’ Title, Concept, and Character Structure!
My Vision: I have well-founded confidence that what I write is excellent and will be acknowledged as excellent by everyone who reads it.
This lesson taught me the broad basics of character structure. The characters don’t just show up for the overall story, they have their own stories within the overall story structure.
Title: “Beyond the Faded Trail”
Concept: A builder and his team go to a ghost town to dismantle it for wood and find thieves’ treasure stored there. His men mutiny over the treasure, then the thieves themselves show up.
Character Structure:
Dramatic Triangle0-
Wow! Sounds somewhat like THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (1948) — one of my most favorite movies of all times. I once told a friend it was my favorite movie. If only you could get Humphrey Bogart to play the lead and John Huston to direct it

What I learned: I discovered today I was able to post my assignments. Maybe. I never say that with confidence, cause up to now, it has been a fuddling affair. lol. But if I can, it makes me smile. Taking courses and learning always makes me smile.
I am good at creating an outline that turns into an amazing story.
Title: Solo Act.
Concept: A clueless hyena, deposed from his clan, must sing for his supper or fight for survival alone.

WIM: TITLE, CONCEPT, AND CHARACTER STRUCTURE
VISION: I want to write memorable, uplifting scenes of drama and humor, so that actors will want to act in the movies.
WIL: A concept I really want to pursue is possible after this assignment.
TITLE: Cardenio Lost
CONCEPT: After his professor suffers from an attempted assassination a Shakespearean scholar struggles to track an unpublished manuscript about Shakespeare’s last play to bait the killer.
CHARACTER STRUCTURE: Protagonist vs. antagonist
+1 -
WIM: Joyce’s Transformational Journey
Vision: To write memorable scenes in drama and humor that actors will want to play in a movie.
WIL” My excitement is growing about the outline.
Arc beginning: bookish, non-confrontational, Shakespearean scholar has no interest in physical ability until he is thrust into a serious situation which requires mind and body at their best.
Arc ending: He rises to the desperate needs of his impaired professor and learns that he is excellently qualified to complete the journey.
Internal journey: He never volunteers for dangerous missions, would rather stay in the background and research, so that others may find and vanquish the villains.
External journey: He draws the short “straw”, but after studying clues, he accepts the mission to find professor’s lost manuscript about the last Shakespearean play Cardenio before those who want him and the professor dead.
Old ways: shy, avoids danger, retreats from arguments, interested in academics, awkward around jocks and girls
New ways: Bold, protective, able to face enemy forces clever at clues and how to act on them, fails, but never retreats.

Module 2 Lesson 1
My Vision:
For Hitler’s Choirboys to be so compelling that Mel Gibson and Steven Spielberg will battle it out to make their best WW2 blockbuster since Hacksaw Ridge or Schindler’s List.
What I learned from this assignment is:
That outlining can keep you on track and save you time. And that the industry will want to see an outline before they see the screenplay.
Title:
Hitler’s Choirboys
Concept:
Nuremberg 1945: Hitler’s henchmen are on trial; hell-bent on making the war rage on forever – can a US Army chaplain win his battle of wills and break the Nazi legend?
Character Structure:

Though this is sci-fi/fantasy it reminded me of a folk legend common among many Native American tribes — STAR HUSBAND, in which a girl (in some versions 2 girls) is sleeping under the stars and looks up at one who is very handsome. She wishes he could be her husband, instead of some ordinary tribal guy. He takes her up to the star world and marries her. After some time she misses her family and tribe, but has a very hard time escaping back down (which sounds sort of like Wizard of Oz, which I think may be partly based on Star Husband).

Greg’s Title, Concept, Character and Structure
My vision is that by the end of this course I have elevated my writing to a professional level and sold my first screenplay. My vision for my career is that in ten years I’m a multimillionaire, I have an Oscar and that I have a whole wall of posters that represent all the films I wrote, were produced and were very successful.
What I learned from doing this assignment is that it pays off to this about character structure just as much as story structure.
1) Title: CODE GRAY
Concept: When a convicted thief has to serve community service at an old folks home, he meets a promiscuous 80-year-old woman and together they conspire to rob from her wealthy and entitled grandson-in-law.
Structure: Buddy movie. The thief and grandma become friends despite them believing they don’t belong together.2) Title: SUPERMANIPULATION
Concept: A superhero gets amnesia after an unlikely injury. He is nursed back to health by a female Navy Seal, not knowing she is the one behind his injury and is brainwashing him to fight in an unjust war.
Dramatic Triangle: The Superhero, the Navy Seal and an American High Commander are all connected, and their relationships are revealed in layers as the Superhero’s memory slowly returns.P.S. I know that I was supposed to post this to the forums but I having difficulty discerning where exactly to post. I already sent an email to customer service but have yet to receive a response.

Title: The Summer of Haight
Concept: In the summer of 1967, an attorney is baffled when his best friend designates a good-for-nothing hippie as the sole benefactor of his opulent estate. After the hippie inherits the estate complete with its lush Victorian mansion, the attorney swears revenge for his “missing” friend.

Vision: I am going to create meaningful scripts that leave audiences remembering my movies and leave me excited to keep writing and moving up in the industry.
