Week 4, Day 1. My Cousin Vinny
What I learned is that I have situations in which my Protagonist is challenged, but the test is not really strong enough. I have to put her more to the test. That is a valuable insight. If I can heighten the challenge it will make for a more dramatic and interesting script.

I am still not rewriting; however, the subtlety and patient wait to pay off setup beats, each of which stands on its own seems abundantly clear.

This was extremely helpful in shaping my second act. I have five children that must learn to help each other and work together – but it wasn’t till I had to “put them to the test” that I was able to clarify/justify/elevate some of the action scenes.
I gave each character a unique test that challenged part of their core traits and was able to add some real depth to each scene.
There is one character test that is still giving me some trouble, but with a little bit more brainstorming and general reflection – I’m sure I will come up with a solution.

What I learned is that I do not yet know how or where in the script I can use this scene although perhaps in the midpoint or slightly b4 or after, unless I use the test on a scene already written towards the end…
