What I learned from this assignment was that it was important to have talking heads with meaningful action. While looking at my pilot, I only had one scene that needed to change, because it was boring not talking heads. But this is important to look at.
Old Scene
INT. PETERS HALL – NEXT DAY
Elizabeth notices the cardboard she fixed over the broken panel is on the floor. She tapes it back.
ELIZABETH
Those boys.
(pause)
Good morning, Connor.
Connor walks into the hall in his pajamas. Goes into the bathroom.
ELIZABETH (CONT.)
Typical.
INT. PETERS BATHROOM – CONTINUOUS
Connor is about to pee when he notices the water in the toilet is clear. He turns on the faucet the water runs clear.
CONNOR
Cool.
Radio is on in the kitchen. Connor flushes the toilet. Washes his hands, walks back to his room.
RADIO ANNOUNCER
The Creede water supply is free of contaminants. Well, that’s the official statement from the water board. The rivers are clear and the town water is safe to drink.
