Emmanuel Sullivan’s Edited TV Pitch Bible
What I learned doing this assignment is getting to the essence of the character, episode and season descriptions is key. Like technical writing, you must cut out the fluff. Looking at my character, episode and season descriptions in that manner allowed me to trim unnecessary filler words and sentences that do not elicit interest or intrigue. I also revised my concept, making it tighter, and revised the world, which is now one sentence.

Renee Brown’s edited tv pitch bible
What I learned doing this assignment is that the editing is never done. Doesn’t matter how many words I cut or how much intrigue I add, there can always be another way. While at first this seems daunting, it actually lands on empowerment. I continue to feel into my story. Knowing it could be a million ways gives me the freedom to choose the way that best channels my authentic voice… as long as that voice is concise 🙂

Daniel Melin’s Edited TV Pitch Bible
What I learned doing this assignment is the value of staying focused. At this stage in the process, I find myself constantly wanting to tweak some direction of the story, some sequence of events, and I have to force myself to stay focused on keeping things oriented toward the marketing frame of mind from which the Pitch Bible is meant to be written.
Having now gone through the TV Pitch Bible editing process, I find that everything flows a lot better. I’ve had to cut a fair amount that was confusing or extra. Most meaningful, perhaps, was actually tweaking my main concept. Even at this late stage, the editing process forced me to rewrite it in such a way that makes my protagonist more proactive, when then sets me up for greater success when creating intrigue everywhere else in the show.

Sherri D. Coffee Module 2 Lesson 11 Editing TV Pitch Bible
I learned that the edit process cut out a lot of useless information that does not focus the story. Also, the focus on clarity lends to a more interesting document.

It seems like the pitch bible can be an ever-evolving and changing document. Every time I look at it there is something deeper, more profound, another layer that I can add. I find more aspects of my character and storyline. But not just another fluff and polish. I add branches, I add new character development, I add more binge-worthy elements that make the show more intriguing.

What I learned from doing this assignment is that editing the TV Pitch Bible will be an ongoing exercise. My bible continues to be a WIP. As I work my way through each of the lessons new processes are revealed which spark another perspective and I revist specific areas aiming to build out open loops, setups and payoffs, add character depth, and overall improve what’s already been written.
The flow of my writing has improved. If I reread what I wrote between Assignments 8 to Assignment 9 although not perfect is a step in the right direction.
