Cameron Martin’s Target Market
What I learned doing this assignment is…How quickly you can compile a list of potential producers for your film. Yeah, this list took me maybe twenty minutes to compile and ensure there were no duplicates. I’m really curious to know what comes next, cause…man this was easy to figure out, and I only used films that were released in the last couple of years. I didn’t even bother with anything released before 2019. Still, I know it’s necessary to compile a list this big because (just like the producers) I’ll have to accept a lot of “No’s” before I can get a single “Yes.” At the very least, as long as I’m confident in my product, the sky’s the limit as far as finding potential buyers.
List of movies: A QUIET PLACE/A QUIET PLACE PART II, FIRESTARTER, CRAWL, RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, UNDERWATER

Day 2 – Target Your Market
PS81 – Dana’s Target Market
What I learned:
To target my screenplay by mass marketing is not the best venue for a high concept script. I need to target producers who have successfully produced films within my chosen genre, especially those who have produced films similar in nature to my own. And while most doors may not be open to me, I need to find the 20 doors I can walk through.

What I learned from this process; I used a few resources to target British producers It was challenging so I had to go wide, using VPF, Wiki and Imbd, and used movies that may have elements of my screenplay but crossed over ie About a Boy and Doc Martin. I may have to change my tactics to access mass marketing.

This film is a Sci-Fi Thriller.
Who will I target first: I am targeting A list actors first.
What I learned is how shocked I was at how easy it was to use IMDB to find producers. DUH! Can’t believe I missed that! Also, realized how easy I’ve given up in the past because I did not have a marketing strategy.

What I learned doing this assignment is…
Welcome to the Real World… The Matrix can help us… WOW! I discovered how important it is to often read actors bio data and look at their pictures. I even found a couple of people who have been trained on the specific martial arts that my protagonist requires… and I can even follow them on Tweeter!

Alice’s Target Market
What I learned doing this assignment is that was real hard to step across the border. My log line needs ajastments. I used Wikipedia to come up with list of producers, so it’s probably lacking. Must go ImbdPro when doing this for real.
I really want Keanu be my Ward. Though this role is for half an hour. And he is too old for Son of Main Commander.
There are not exactly movies like this. If to take the best ski fi movies with the best actors, then producers come up to Steven Spielberg…
There are a lot of work ahead
MIROPOLIS. SEPARATION
In time of Separation, an artificial death protecting Advanced West society of Planet MIROPOLIS, workers of Research Institute get massacred, to create “new weapon”, interests clash, judge sentences wrongdoer at scandalous process, Separates, his subtle image reflected on video, his advice to filter people and expel outcastes is taken into practice…
…after reservations for outcastes are created, trained WARDS are to bring qualified back to society,
Born in reservation, LENA witnesses her Ward’s death, runaways, gets escorted by high rang military, becomes his lover, as anyone around undergo danger of being marked as “outcastes”.

Anita’s Target Market
Title: Life Choices
Logline: A young woman who can’t access an abortion abandons her baby at birth only to learn years later that the child is her best hope for a life-saving transplant, leading her to search for a daughter she never wanted.
Genre: Psychological Drama / Courtroom Drama
What I learned doing this assignment: Nailing the genre is actually tricky for me to do as my story is hybrid. It’s really a cross-over so I considered psychological thrillers and courtroom dramas, as well as films dealing with social justice topics. The exercise of finding producers this way was simple, straight-forward and awesome. I am behind on posting my assignments, having been away for 2 weeks, so I am only posting the films and actors here, and will go back and research the associated producers as time allows in the following few days.
1. Make a list of five or more movies that are similar to yours and five actors that you might want to play your lead characters. Then, 2. Using the Targeting process above, go to http://www.imdb.com and find 20 to 100 producers for your specific project.
