Sharilyn’s Finished ACT 1 First Draft

What I learned doing this assignment is…as long as I don’t write right, the words flow.

My insights in writing the Act 1 first draft include: (1) I wasn’t letting go to let it flow. (2) I was editing while writing, moving scenes around, which stalled me for a day!! (3) I don’t have to write in order. Just write it how it comes. (4) I found a lot of cinematic repetition which drove me a little nuts. Made me wanna make the shit flow logically, or as I SEE IT. I have to fight my left brain to be WRITE brained.

Tom’s Finished Act 1 First Draft

What I learned in this assignment was the value of a past lesson we did. Keeping my the following answers handy (I don’t recall which lesson it was):

Helped me to make sure I was staying true to my outline and helped me to stay on track with the high speed writing component. I was simply setting out to honor the outline.
