Sharilyn Finished ACT 2 First Draft
What I learned doing this assignment is…I can’t “think” about where I am in the outline. As long as I listen to the characters, their words flow.
My rating of the High Speed Writing Rules:
Rule 1: Use empowering self talk.
Cheer yourself on. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>A<div>
Rule 2: Understand writing in
drafts. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>A<div>
Rule 3: Choose speed over quality
for EARLY drafts. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>BRule 4: Allow yourself to start
(or continue) without all the answers. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>CRule 5: Keep moving. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>A Don’t allow yourself to ever
stall out. = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>BRule 6: Even if you can’t create
it now, you will be able to at some point in the future! = <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.6875rem;”>BInsights I had writing ACT 2
I’m still having to check myself. I gotta stick to the outline; even though it is easy to do so, and I can write fast because the characters talk to me, new ideas pop up out the blue. I just highlight them and go back to the original outline. Who knows? They may work out.

Tom’s Finished Act 2
What I learned in this assignment is that I can write even faster if I don’t do the first take in Final Draft. I started just flying through dialog and action with no headers in a notepad application and was amazed at how much easier it was to get out of my head about being word perfect. On the next day, I went back and transferred everything to Final Draft and made a couple of small tweaks, but overall I was surprised by the outcome.
