Phyllis’ Episode List Rough Draft
I learned from this assignment that I could leverage on the work I’ve done before and eventually trial & error my way to rough episodes.
Season Beginning: Sasha, an EPA investigator, is fired because the major oil company she was investigating engineered it. Unemployable, she can only pursue her dream of fighting climate change by accepting a job with Duncan, a billionaire environmental activist. Turns out he’s delusional, believing in creatures that have been spawned by a build-up of greenhouse gases. But, if she sticks with him for three years, he promises to fund an environmental foundation for her.
Season Ending/Cliffhanger: Torn over whether to betray Duncan to save him from further harm, Sasha decides to keep tracking. She finds partial remains that could be the creatures Duncan insists are real. She refuses to help Duncan’s sister, Delia, have him committed. Sasha and a recovered Duncan track a creature, but when Duncan shoots it, it doesn’t die. They barely escape with their lives.
Mystery
Question A: Are the creatures real?
Question B: Duncan reveals his beliefs to Sasha after she accepts the job. Also, people are dying mysteriously during climate-change fueled disasters (fire, tornados, fierce storms). What do these monsters look like? Where can you find them? Can you lure them to you? How do you kill one?
Question C: In the first season, the characters must work to discover whether the creatures are real.
Mystery 1 Set Up: Duncan reveals to Sasha, after she’s signed on, that their real mission is to slay the creatures spawned by the build-up of greenhouse gases. She thinks he’s delusional.
Mystery 1 Solved: Sasha finds partial remains that could be a creature. She and Duncan track and encounter a creature—it’s real. Turns out Duncan is not delusional.
Mystery 2: What turned Duncan into the black sheep of his family?
Mystery 3: What is behind Sasha’s flaw of not trusting others?
Lead Characters’ Journeys
Question A: Sasha starts out with her dream of fighting climate change crushed, and her only job offer is to work with Duncan, who is obviously delusional. Duncan starts out as a failure in his search for the creatures spawned by a build-up in greenhouse gases.
Question B: Sasha trusts Duncan enough to give him a second chance and look for evidence of these creatures herself, while Duncan is recovering from injury. Duncan has a witness—he’s not the only one to have seen one of these creatures, but his assumption about how to kill them was wrong.
Sasha Beginning: Skeptical and distrustful, she takes a job with delusional Duncan because he’s promised to fund her environmental foundation after three years of service.
Sasha Ending: She decides to trust Duncan over his sister Delia and in the last scene encounters a real creature along with Duncan.
Duncan Beginning: Impractical and impulsive, Duncan is a failure in his search for the creatures spawned by a build-up of greenhouse gases.
Duncan Ending: Duncan defers to Sasha’s tracking and in the last scene encounters a creature like the one he saw ten years ago. But his assumption about how to kill them is wrong.

· Sasha fears that if Duncan’s delusions are revealed, he’ll be disgraced and she’ll lose her job and her future foundation.

Kim’s Episode List Rough Draft
What I learned doing this assignment is…how I needed to end the season, which I hadn’t planned out until now.
What is the Beginning of the season and the End of the season? Beginning is mystery surrounding who tried to kill Eric. Ending is discovering who it was and why.
What possible cliffhanger could be in that last scene of the season, thus demanding that we watch the next season? Learning that Eric has the same issue with past lives as Natalie does, and that he’s been hiding it all this time.
What is the mystery? Why did Natalie’s other personality try to kill Eric?
How could the mystery be set up? What parts will be left out that must be solved? What does Eric have to do with Natalie’s past? What happened that ruined the trajectory of their fate?
What it the ultimate solution that the characters must work to discover? Why Natalie’s personalities are trying to talk to her and what are they trying to say.
Where does the Lead Character journey begin and end for this season? Natalie works to understand why she can’t control the things she says and does while her husband struggles with the situation she has placed them in regarding his daughter.
Where might this character go in future seasons? How could that influence this season’s journey? She will be desperate to understand why one of her personalities doesn’t trust Eric and doesn’t want him in their lives.
What layers have you already discovered in your BW Framework? List written.

Module 2 – Lesson 4 – Episode List (Rough Draft)
What I learned…this feels more like “done” work than “good” work at this point. But I got a lot down on the page here. It’s a start.
Beginning: Vestal Virgin Head Priestess, Livia’s pregnancy and miscarriage throws the House of Vesta into high stakes chaos. Silvius, Pontifex Maximus, mysteriously waves a trial and has her immediately put to death. Nerilla, a third in line slacker with a series of botched blessings on her record, is unexpectedly appointed Head Priestess.
Season End/Cliffhanger – Julia Domna, widowed Empress and mother to Caracalla and Geta, attempts to broker a peace between the now co-emperors. In front of Nerilla and Julia, Caracalla has Geta killed. He dies in his mother’s arms. Caracalla declares it was Nerilla’s blessing and her influence with the gods that ensured his father’s demise and his destiny to be emperor.
Season 1
Mystery – Does Nerilla actually possess magical powers and a connection to the gods? Or does she always need some outside help?
Solved – She has never believed her role as a Vestal automatically instilled her with the gifts of mysticism. But now the stakes are life and death. She begins “faking” blessings, adding new levels of theatrics. Laurus helps her. The blessings work. (Season 1); Julia Domna passes off state secrets that lend credibility to Nerilla’s mystic predictions (Season 2); Nerilla brokers peace with a conquered nearby tribe (Season 4)
Mystery – Who impregnated Livia? Who is she protecting?
Solved – Childhood friend, a widower and farmer (Season 4)
Mystery – Which Vestal broke the vow of secrecy and leaked word of Livia’s miscarriage?
Solved – Laurus confesses it was she. (Season 5)
Mystery – Why did Silvius wave a trial?
Solved – Pressured by Emperor Severus and high-ranking Senator father to demonstrate leadership, regain favor of the gods and purge House of Vesta of this scandal immediately. (Season 1)
Mystery – Why Nerilla as Head Priestess? Severa, a popular favorite with the citizens, is second in line?
Solved – Severa is not a virgin. Was raped by Silvius’s father. (Season 4)
Mystery – Why is Nerilla privately so shattered by Livia’s death?
Solved – She and Livia had a romantic relationship. Livia was her lifeline. (Season 1); Laurus, under pressure, exposes this “incestuous” relationship to devastating results (Season 5)
Journey begins: Nerilla is a slacker of a Vestal, restless. Worthless at blessings. Thinks she’s a complete fraud. Politically disinterested. Leaves the fame and glory to Livia and Severa.

Caracalla and Geta return to Rome, competing against each other as co-emperors. Julia Domna gathers her sons to get them to cooperate. Nerilla is present, offers counsel and blesses the meeting. Caracalla has Geta killed. Caracalla is convinced Nerilla summoned the gods to support his emperorship. She personally will bless all of his endeavors to ensure his success.
Layer—Nerilla must publicly denounce Livia and erase all memory of her. Privately, she is devastated, heartbroken and vengeful.
