What I learned is this will help structure the outline.
The villains plan is to publicly ruin a celebrity preachers personal and professional life.
The villain constantly harasses Brent and undermines peoples opinion of him.
Brent goes after the villain, risking exposing his own dark secret.
1/ Opens with a 13yr old boy swinging from the rafters.
2/ We meet Evelyn, learn she had a horrific experience as a child 18 years ago, but is released from an asylum.
3/ Evelyn stalks super preacher, and advocate of helping victims of sex trafficking, Brent Martin.
4/ Evelyn seduces Brent at a convention, secretly tapes it and sends it to a media outlet.
5/ Brent’s standing in the community as a famous preacher is threatened. His wife and daughter face humiliation.
6/ Brent hires some thugs to scare off Evelyn
7/ Evelyn befriends Brent’s wife and daughter.
8/ A reporter delves into Brent’s past. Finds out about a scandal of a young boy hanging himself while under Brent’s care.
9/ The reporter confronts Evelyn – we find out Evelyns real name is Erica Garcia and it was her brother who committed suicide. Evelyn threatens her physically if she goes with the story.
10/ The reporter confronts Brent. Demands the truth.
11/ The reporter is the victim of a hit and run.
12/ Brent tells his wife to stay away from Evelyn.
13/ Evelyn is unstable and has visions of young boys hanging, throwing themselves off buildings, throwing themselves in front of trains.
14/ Brent confront’s Evelyn, demands she stay away from his family.
15/ Evelyn sets up Brent’s wife with an ex boyfriend, roofies her and takes photos.
16/ Evelyn sends the footage of her and Brent to his daughter. His wife and daughter leave him.
17 She sends the same clip to his investors. They withdraw funding of his trafficking project.
18/ Brent pays the thugs to put more heat on Evelyn. They put her In hospital.
19/ Photo’s of the ex boyfriend and Brents wife show up. Brent tracks his wife down to the hospital. She’s leaving him for her ex.
20/ Brent tracks down the boyfriend. In an altercation, the boyfriend is killed by Brent.
21/ Brent tracks down his wife and daughter at the town where the boy hung himself. He’s accosted by Evelyn, and we find out she witnessed him seducing her brother – she offers him a chance to kill himself.
22/ Brent is taken away by the cops. His wife and daughter move to Colorado. Evelyn is declared sane by the authorities.

What I learned is…
What is the Villain’s plan and how does that put the Hero in danger?
To get Wilma to be part of the serial killings
To make Wilma and everyone thinks she’s mentally unstable
To make Wilma think she’s the killer for her to hide evidence connected to her.
Kill Wilma and assume her life.
What other potential dangers could your Hero experience as they try to solve the mystery and confront the Villain?
Being a suspect in the killings
Convicted as the serial killer
Locked up in a mental institution
Having her husband or best friend killed
To be killed herself.
Sequence those dangers in order and make a list like the one I did for Basic Instinct above.
A series of brutal killings discovers a new serial killer is on the loose.
Wilma is having dreams about killings
(Wilma had to stop helping the FBI on serial killers because of PTSD)
FBI asks her just look into it.
Wilma is hallucinating talking to herself
She confides in her mental state – her purposely makes her question herself more for his case study
Her dog is killed- Wilma dream it
Each killing Wilma finds a clue that points to her. She hides all clues.
Her husband is killed in their bed.
She’s now a suspect.
The best friend dreams of her killing.
Wilma is convinced the psychiatrist is doing everything.
Wilma is all alone and the serial killer is hunting. her
