My name is Bob Kerr. I have written two scripts. I hope to expand my skill set for the third script I’m presently in the rewrite process. This script was entered into three film festival script contests last year and received a “Considered Writer” outcome from the Austin Film Festival I spent a career in higher education and retired early to follow my dream of selling a screenplay. This is the fifth class I’ve taken from Hal.

Hi, Robert,
Would you like to pair up for the next assignment? Both of our scripts deal with divorces, and since I was a divorce attorney for the last 30 years before my retirement, I might be of some aid. I just finished the NYT 2022 number one bestseller “Lessons in Chemistry,” that has been optioned. It features rowing. My email is pat@pbpencraft.com

My name is Patricia Brown. After retiring from practicing law for 30 years at the end of 2022, I’m here to write screenplays full time. I have taken so many classes from Hal during the last three years, I have forgotten how many, but loved the 30-day Comedy writing class. Like everyone here, I want to go from being a good writer to a great one. I also want to focus on one of two scripts. Unique? I’m the only women on the planet who went around the world on the Concorde in a day and a half–while pregnant.

Hello Patricia Brown. Am wondering if you would like to partner up this round to see if we fit. I have taken several of Hal’s classes and appreciate his ideas and provisions greatly.

Hello all, I’m Marian Yeager. I live in Austin, Texas. I’ve written eleven scripts, three of which were written in a SU course. I’m a writer/director and have directed two features. One of which I wrote. I just finished the 30 Day Screenplay and want to take the script I wrote in it through this rewriting program. I also plan to write another script this year. Looking to go into production early next year with one of them. I love to travel and will be heading to Ireland this year to road-trip around the country.

My name is Deborah Johnson and I’ve written, I don’t know, maybe 5 or 6 complete scripts. I hope to take my current script and make it better. I hope to elevate myself as a writer. I recently discovered that I’m allergic to corn/corn products – which sounds really terrible, but, actually, I’m quite relieved to know what’s been causing my migraines. I haven’t had a headache in over a month now! Yahoo!

Hello, I’m Lisa Long
I’ve been working on a script in the Writing Incredible Movies class which is ending soon. I will bring that script to this class for the rewrites. Prior to taking the WIM class I completed the SU ProSeries 81 class, and I am still working on rewrites for that script as well. I’ve taken several other classes with Hal.
I’ve written 3 scripts and have begun a fourth.
As I’ve stated, I have two scripts in the rewriting stage, so I hope to move the process along by using the tools I learn in this class.
I’ve sold one script. I am a graduate of NYU film school. I am on Eastern Standard Time.

Hi, Lisa,
I saw that Deb has asked you to pair with her. Would you be willing to connect with me for at least the second part of assignment 1? I appreciate your clarity on your One Page.

Good evening everyone.
My name is David Wickenden. I am the author of 6 novels, 5 thrillers and one Fantasy. I have adapted 5 of those stories to feature film. Although I have sent out for notes, I have tackled no rewrites as I’m uncertain how to approach it. I am hope through this course, I’ll find some strategies. I am finishing up the Thriller course and am part of the Binge Worthy TV course, so am very busy at the computer.
Something unique about me is that I spent 31 years running into burning fires for a living and took early retirement to write full time.

Hi, I’m Veleka Gray, and I have been studying with Hal since June 2010. I’ve written fourteen scripts, but all of them have been practice scripts as I’ve delved into the craft and learned. In this class I think I’ll finally be able to write my first really excellent script. Something unusual about me is that when I was on soap operas in the ’70s and ’80s, a lot of pregnant women took my first name for their daughters. Before that, I had been the only Veleka in the United States.

Hi everyone. My name is Douglas E. Hughes. I’ve written four screenplays to date. I hope to learn the skills to be able to elevate these scripts to a truly professional level. I’m an actor and playwright by profession, and have been writing plays for over 30 years.

Hi – Karen Brandin here. I’ve written 2 scripts (plus 5 rewrites), and am in the process of writing two TV pilots. I hope to learn an in-depth revision process to measurably up the quality of my scripts. It’s not unique, but I am a military veteran who spent over 10 years on active duty with the Air Force. Look forward to working with all of you.

Hola. Hello. Aloha. How are you doing?
My name is Henry Fox. I’ve written about 17 movie scripts in my life. Most of them I’ve written post covid. I consider myself a filmmaker first and I’d like to be able to take my scripts and get them in production as both a writer/director. I’m hoping to be able to learn all of the editing/rewriting techniques to help eventually get my scripts ready so they can get into production.
I also went to film school and am hoping that my knowledge of writing/directing/producing gets as good as I can get it (so I’ll always be learning.)
Outside of films I enjoy lucha libre wrestling, tiki bars and cooking.
Cheers!

Hello! This is an August company. My name is Patricia Carothers. I live in the beautiful state of Idaho.
I have several scripts in various stages and two books, and will be working specifically on this historical script through this process. I have taken several classes with Hal…wonderful classes.
Something unusual/unique might be my love of languages and voracious reading – especially in trees when young- throughout my life…and love for profound and comic movies.
-
What I hope to accomplish with this class is to finish the 1st draft with interesting characters in interesting situation and weave the three stories together in a way that serves the story…hope to electrify my script in so doing.

Hello
This is my 4th class with Hal. At his other 3 classes I was able to learn a lot and considerably elevate my writing skills. As a result of my original idea , which I have been working for the last 5 years, and my elevated writing skills from Hal’s classes, I finished a fiction action feature movie script just a week ago. In this class I would like to revised this manuscript for submitting it to few contests. I would also probably take few on demand classes in parallel such as “Advanced Dialogues” , “Subtext secrets”, “Mastering scenes” or “First 10 pages” .

Good Morning, I am JR Riddle aka Jan. Like many of you, I’ve enjoyed many of Hal and Cheryl’s classes. Now I’m fascinated with the potential of this rewrite class. I have written several scripts over the years and want to improve my style and professionalism. The rewrite that I’m focusing on has placed in the Maui Writers Conference and won a screenwriting contest in Arizona. However, not good enough! Doing a proper rewrite and elevating all my scripts to a that new level is my long-term goal, one at a time. My 2nd goal: selling at least one this year.
