i have written about 4 scripts, mostly short films

I hope to write better scripts.

I have a BA in Religious Studies. I like to write about Religious type horror to include vampires. I’m a US Army Ranger Veteran, Actor and champion Ballroom Dance Teacher.

Note: I notice now that my horror in progress screenplay has a lot of MYTHICAL scenes. I want to leave that out and hesh out more horror scenes based on the conventions.

Hi everyone, my name is Frank MacCrory.

I’ve written two feature scripts (one of which is a horror script that I realize is going to need a lot of rework, so I won’t touch again it until after this class). I’ve also written a number of shorts.

I’m hoping to get a better handle on writing emotion, both portraying what the characters are going through and leading an audience to experience certain emotions. Getting a producible script wouldn’t be bad, either!

I’m an Army vet who started off working in the technology end of military intelligence, and I’ve been working in various parts of the “technology” sphere ever since. Screenwriting is a release from the kind of highly technical stuff that I usually write (seriously, it has math that’ll make your eyes bleed).

    eight scripts, various genres

I want to write an outline for a horror movie that will give me “chicken skin”

Horror movies are not my go-to movies, but when this idea came to me I had to write it.

I took my first class with ScreenwritingU about ten years ago, it feels great to be back and part of a team

    Hi everyone,

Deborah Stenard but call me Deb.

I have written 10 or so full length scripts, some shorts, I “worked” for a production company (for no pay) and they had me write:

-the premise for a historical series, a script based on a fantasy book, a pilot script for an Asian female comic, a faith-based script based on a true story, several episodes for a comedy pilot based on my best friend’s life and ALL FOR NO PAY. On SPEC.

But I learned how to write fast, how to take notes and how to let go of my ego.

I have never really written a horror script and I like the idea I came up with, so I am hoping to get a good first draft out of this idea, if you all think it might work. Will appreciate your input.

Something about me? I have worked as a puppeteer, a singing and dancing bear (in costume) and a magician’s assistant, along with the usual waitress jobs. BTW, being a magician’s assistant is A HORRIBLE JOB.

    Hi!

    My name is Dianna Renée.

I’ve written a bunch of features, but only a few I consider polished (and short scripts that I have filmed – one is in festivals as we speak).

I hope to get a new idea I had written and polished while being scary as hell (with some humor…).

Nothing special, I’m just an actress and filmmaker who ferments my own beverages – but, I do have the world’s most gorgeous cats.

Hi. My Name is Pam Ewing. Although I’ve done over a dozen scripts, they are mostly sitcom pilots and specs. First time in horror. Always avoided going to horror movies on the big scream/screen because of having nightmares. But lately there have been a lot of great horror that I liked – The Hunt, Ready or Not, Get Out, etc. SO I want in on horror. No plot yet – but I’m going to sleep on it. I am working on a rom com that can have horror moments that I hope to learn here. Just bumped into one of my 13 step-siblings after decades! His father was pure evel so maybe some inspiration there.

    Hello everyone,

    I’m Cary Patrick Martin

I’ve completed six short scripts and given up on many others!

As an independent filmmaker, my goal is to make at least one short in different genres. As I have a fondness for Horror, this genre will likely yield more than one! Most classes I have taken either haven’t been equipped to teach the specific tools of the genre, or I’ve been uncomfortable exploring darker content in a space with artists of different sensibilities or levels of consent. I’ll be forming a new idea from scratch with this class, and then I hope to use what I learn to revisit a script or two I’ve had struggles with. I direct and edit my own work, so I love the focus on writing for lower budgets!

I’m a long distance runner, having completed several full marathons, and often find my most creative ideas and solutions while I’m in a workout. They also come in the middle of the night, causing me to lose a lot of sleep!

    Name?

    Hello, I’m Brian.

    How many scripts you’ve written?

I have authored 7 complete screenplays, two epic novels and one short story anthology.

What you hope to get out of the class?

I hope to learn how to write a horror screenplay that has a realistic chance of being sold and produced.

Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

I am the author of the self-published, award-winning epic novel, “The Last Angel To Fall” and its sequel, “A Cold Day In Hell.” Kirkus Reviews called my debut novel “A powerhouse first volume in a supernatural thriller series.” “The Last Angel To Fall” was also the recipient of the Gold Award from Literary Titan for September 2021. Readers Favorite awarded it with a 5-Star Review: “Brian G. Walsh is a master of symbolism and the deconstructing of scriptural wordplay with the imagination to pull it all together.” Sheena Monnin, Founder of Stellar Media Group, wrote: ”Rarely does a book so thoroughly captivate and enthrall in its entirety the way this book does!” I am also the author of “No Place For Mercy: An Eclectic Anthology” that has been well-received by readers. The theme of this collection of short stories is expressed through tales of war, science fiction, survival and love. I intend to adapt the novels and short stories into either TV series or films some day.

I’m looking to write smart, elevated horror scripts AND to sell one.

I’m retired and looking to keep my mind active and creative. I’ve taken the ProSeries course (PS80) and it has dramatically improved my writing. I look forward to applying that knowledge acquired with this new course.

Hello everyone, my name is Karen Christine.

I have worked in the film industry in Germany several years ago and took a “side-step” into the publishing world for more than 10 years.

I have written and published about 40 books for children which have been translated into 10 languages by Penguin Random House and others.

I have been the CEO of my own publishing house in the past 8 years, and closed this company last year to concentrate on my writing and helping other authors and entrepreneurs to improve their writing and visibility.

I have written 3 scripts, and I am new in horror.

I love learning and discovering new skills. And I love the sea. That´s why I am living and working from a place in the Sun close to an Ocean whenever I can.

Much fun and good luck to all of you 🙂

    Hi everyone,

I’m Bree, though I’m using my partner Chris’s account—hence the mismatch of name & picture. I’ve written two scripts, but I’m really more of a novelist; I’ve got four books under my belt. I took Hal’s thriller class last fall and it was great stuff. Now I’ve got a new horror idea I’m super excited about. I’m hoping to at least get the scaffolding up by the end of the month.

Something unique about me? I was born and raised in Dallas and lived in LA for the last ten years, so you might say I’m a city girl. But we just moved to a new house in upstate New York where I’m currently auditioning for the role of “country girl.” Most recent audition tape: I went for a midnight wander in the woods and came back with a tick burrowed into my side. I didn’t have tweezers. So I pulled out my handy Oral-B dental floss… and lynched it. Popped right out, head and all. When in doubt, floss it out!

I’m Terri Emerson. I’ve had two features produced, and I’ve written about 10 scripts. I hope to learn how to write horror films. Even though it scares me.

What’s unusual about me? I’m related to Jesse James and once in awhile I have a hankering to rob a train. LOL!

  • Deborah Twiss

Hi, I’m Deborah Twiss. I’ve written eight feature scripts, all of which were produced, and a series, one season, seven episodes, which was also produced. I have another one that I wrote that should be made by the end of the summer. My most recent film premiered on Prime and iTunes May 16, Sapiosexual.

I am looking forward to this class bringing more structure to my writing life. I just lost my husband who was sick for about fifteen years and it’s time to really focus on my work in ways I never could before.

There’s a lot of strange things about me. Top would be my rescue passion. I have eleven dogs, eleven cats and a turtle (all rescues), my two kids love them all. It’s like a big playhouse, to me. I moved eighteen times in the first seventeen years of my life and I loved the adventure of it. Oh, another fun trivia bit. I played Mrs. Zane in KickAss (I’m also an actress) and have a trading card. Pretty freaky. lol

Hi all – I’m a bit late to the group as well!

Shannon Amborn here, and this is my sixth script. I started out writing bigger budget (and hard-to-sell) thrillers and period dramas, tried my hand at a half-hour single cam, and then decided to try a contained, elevated horror. My screenwriting coach says I need to eventually pick a lane, but I’m still experimenting with my voice!

I started my career working in new media development for Aaron Spelling and Michael Crichton, but always wanted to be on the production side instead of corporate. I started writing scripts after a pandemic-related layoff, and I haven’t looked back!

Maybe four or five very short scripts for a Audio Video class during the school year plus I worked on two short film scripts over the semester as part of a club, and created another with a group for a camp.

I hope to learn how to write better scripts in general, and horror ones, as I do not have much practice in the area.

I love playing Dungeons and Dragons, doing math (especially geometric proofs), and talking backwards.

    My name is Anthony,

I have written several feature length scripts (I have also completed a TV Pilot, and numerous shorts and comedy skits).

I am finishing up the 1st draft of a Horror-Thriller script right now, and I want to make it better, beef up the tension(s), scares, thrills and maybe some brain bending.

Something unique, definitely unusual? I had profound transpersonal and transformational experiences starting at age of 21. Later, I became certified as a Meditation teacher and a Stress Management Facilitator – and I hope to publish two books later this year or early next year. One on my transformational experiences, and the other on a profound relaxation technique I invented.

    Have a great course!
