Introduce Yourself to the Group
Posted by cheryl croasmun on August 14, 2023 at 5:50 amHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

I have written four screenplays. I am also a playwright and have written ten plays ranging from 10 minute plays to full length.
I hope to convert one of my stage plays to a screenplay.
I am a retired chemist and writing is a second career.

Hello,
I’m Rick Whitney and I have written 22 feature scripts and one One-Act.
I have submitted my scripts to various contests, had talent manager notes for most of them, and I have done well but it hasn’t been quite been enough to put me to the head of the class. I hope to move the bar higher with this class.
I have written in several genres but I find my self comfortable in the science fiction / horror genres most likely since my education is in Geology and I am a retired Environmental Consultant moving head long into my second career.
I look forward to working with you folks.

Hi, I’m Karin Armbrust!
I’ve written a couple of short scripts, one full length script that needs a lot of help, and there is an idea I’ve been mulling over for a while. Lately I’ve been focusing on sketch comedy and have started a video series project. I tend to jump around a lot.
What I’m hoping to get out of this class is several fold. 1) Ideas on how to make my scripts better 2) Jump start my creativity. I’ve been in a funk and need some help.
Ever watch “Strange Luck”? I’m a bit like that. I’ve had incredible luck in my life, both good and bad. I’ve made decisions that led to college, the Navy, stand-up, and more. And I’ve been carjacked, kidnapped several times (Men in Italy are weird. They take the film “Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down” a bit too seriously), and being targeted by bad people. Some days I wish my life was a bit more mellow. But there is a lot of fodder there.
I’m looking forward to this class. I’m still not sure how it works. I know it’s 30 days/lessons, but is it every day? Every other day?
Cheers,
-Karin

I’m also a little confused about how the course works, and the schedule. I’m two days overdue with assignment 1, I think? Yikes! Hoping to get it done before my next work shift today.

I just saw this, Margaret. Things are a bit confusing. I’d just do what you can and get as much out of it as you can. Don’t give up! You can do it!

Hi everyone, I’m Jeff Cochran
I’ve completed three scripts, two features, and a short, all science fiction. The two features won quarter-finalist awards and the short took a semi-finalist in various contests.
I’m here to improve my work, learn more about the industry, and meet other writers like you.
And, something different about me: I’m an ex-martial arts instructor and have been to China twice to study.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello folks, My name is Winifred Meiser and I have written two scripts. I am the Writer/Executive Producer of a children’s environmental play/musical “Roxy the Recycling Robin And The Mystery of the Missing Trees” and the Founder/Director of the nonprofit children’s photography program “Seeing Our World – Through Children’s Eyes” conducted over the past 40 years throughout the USA and several countries including Armenia, Indonesia & England.
My goal is to write a short documentary about the program, its’ purpose (using basic photography) to teach children visual awareness and communication skills, and exhibiting their photos, to inspire them to see themselves as a positive part of their community. Exhibits are sometime exchanged and viewed digitally between participating communities and nations.
My hope is that the documentary, including instructions and requirements (such as none of the work is to be used in competition or for sale) can be viewed anywhere in the world, bringing us all a bit closer by seeing our world – through children’s eyes.
Best regards to all who give their work their all:-)

Lovely to meet everyone. Looks like I’m the novice in that I have not completed a script yet.
I worked in the film industry (post-production sound and VFX production) for almost 20 years. Now I am looking forward to experiencing the pre-production phase of film-making.

Hi All,
My name is Natasha Powell. I’ve written about 7 scripts – sci-fi horror. 3.5 TV shows and 5.5 Features. I hope to improve my skills in such a way that I can place high in writing contests. Unique, I also do standup – I guess that’s unique.

I’m rewriting my first screenplay, a comedy. I’ve written two one-act plays.
My goal with the course is to learn more ways to make the story richer and more satisfying and to improve my script by the time the course is done.
I have written poetry for a long time, and although some of the poems I write are light-hearted and funny, it’s usually the darkest, grimmest stuff that editors choose to publish whenever I submit a group of poems. I am darkly, grimly determined to write a light-hearted and funny script.

Hello all!
I’m Kerry, I’ve written a full length script and mostly shorts and one-act plays, with numerous other screenplays and a pilot in different stages. What I hope to get to of this class is a way to make my unfinished scripts “finishable”. Something unusual/unique about me is I used to have sort of deja vu dreams as a kid into young adulthood and would know a thing would happen before it did – with the occasional tragedy that would be disguised as something else.
