    2. I’ve finished 3 feature scripts. Before finding ScreenwritingU I had started and abandoned quite a few others. I’m writing a new screenplay as part of Writing Incredible Movies (I’m on draft 2).

    3. I want to be able to write well for TV too – great series that will be produced. I’d like to keep up to date with how AI can assist me most effectively. I also want to be able to give and receive helpful feedback from course colleagues to improve my writing even more.

    4. Something unusual about me is that as well as having a 40 year career as a chartered accountant in the UK, for the last 25 years I’ve also been a part-time clinical hypnotherapist working with people to help them stop smoking, change unwanted habits and deal with stress related conditions like anxiety and panic attacks. I’m also a certified trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

    5. I’m currently working through Writing Incredible Movies 4. It’s great and my writing is definitely improving, but I seem to be the only one enrolled on the course so I haven’t benefitted from feedback, although I have been able to see the forum posts of people who took WIM previously. I’m looking forward to learning alongside other people on BW TV.

Thanks Margaret for your offer of feedback, that is so kind of you. I’m a month behind ☹️, I’m on module 6 lesson 2 (draft 2 of the screenplay, I should be on module 8 lesson 1 and I’m plodding on). I’ll connect with you through ScreenwritingU and find out where you are, how to exchange drafts ant the appropriate time etc. Feedback feels like such a benefit of the WIM course so it’ll be fantastic to be able to connect and give feedback and receive feedback!

    2. I’ve written seven features, all produced, one first season of a series that comes out in the next couple months (7 episodes, 30 min each) and a series that I shot the pilot of and have a bible for but is my primary objective to tweak and get moving on in this group.

    3. As I mentioned, my series A Beautiful Distraction which I already have a pilot and trailer and bible for….but to truly secure the financing, I think this program will help me nail it.

    4. Unique…hmmm….I have 11 rescue chihuahua mixes and 11 rescue cats. And a turtle. I’ve fostered many many more but ended up with the odd ball lover-babies.

    5. I’ve done the thriller, action, horror and I did the original Binge Worthy but I am excited and intrigued by the AI component and so I’m diving in to take everything up a notch!

    2. I’ve written 13 features and 2 TV pilots.

    3. As I’ve learned more about writing for TV and film, I’ve discovered I’m more suited to television. I want to use AI as a tool to speed up my writing of TV pilots and begin to create a library of scripts to market. I’m also curious about if it’s possible to use AI to help me write spec scripts, though I know that is outside the purview of this course.

    4. I’ve been studying astrology since I was 7 years old. Also, I’ve just been cast in a local production of Larissa Fasthorse’s “The Thanksgiving Play” as Caden.

    5. I was in ProSeries 54 and BingeWorthy 3, I think? (2019) Also MSC 6 and MSC 12.

I participated in the Junior Olympic Archery Development Program in my youth.

I was in ProSeries 77, the very first Writing Incredible Movies, as well as a number of other classes with ScreenwritingU. This will be my first foray into the Bingeworthy TV world.

    • Kristina Zill (my friends call me KZ)

    • I started out as a playwright, writing many plays that were produced in small venues. Then I took Robert McKee’s Story workshop, and shifted my focus to screenplays. Of all the scripts I’ve written, about 5 are marketable. I moved to the Catskill Mountains and since there wasn’t the vibrant theater community I had known in NYC, I wrote 2 novels. I was a finalist in a screenplay contest in 2013. My play (HOME) was adapted to film (FOREVER YOUR FIREPLACE), which won Best Comedy Short at Worldfest Houston in 2016.

    • During BWTV-23, I took the AI for Screenwriters class, and tried unsuccessfully to apply the intriguing methods to my BW project. And just about the time I was musing that it would be supernaturally wonderful if there were an AI component tailored to BWTV, bada bing! I’m noodling on a new idea for this class, and I also hope to apply AI techniques to brainstorm improvements to my previous BW script.

    • When I was 8, my family moved from Houston, Texas to Paris, France. Learning a language in a sink-or-swim way gave me a knack for languages, an ear for dialogue, and comfort with being a fish-out-of-water. Most likely, total immersion in a foreign country is the reason I became a writer. On the other hand, I have difficulty recognizing faces, which has led to many an embarrassing social faux pas. That kind of lifelong absurdity may be why I write comedy.

    • In addition to genre classes, I have taken BWTV-23 and Creative Mastery-4

Hi KZ(ok to call you KZ as virtual friend?). I envy your ability with languages. I envy ANYONE with ability in languages. I’m terrible at it. I studied French all four years in high school and could rarely understand a word anyone said. German for three semesters, a little better. One term Italian (on the midterm, I accidentally answered all the questions in French, got the French right LOL). All through elementary school, we were taught Spanish over the P.A. I still have trouble understanding Spanish. English? I’m not too bad.

      Hello KZ,

I also have a place in my heart for Paris, where I spent a few years with my petite copain. And I grew up in NYC before coming to Los Angeles, where I began a 40-year TV career.

My French is rusty today because I threw France over for Italy about 20 years ago. My wife and I have renovated a home in Sicily and we are currently getting away from construction chaos in Taormina.

I am skeptical about AI but also very intrigued, so I think that this deep dive will let me see if I can use AI as a tool to complete an ambitious TV series I started in the Bingeworthy course.

        Hi, Griff,

I have heard that the Italian government is offering houses throughout rural Italy for super cheap to keep their villages from dying. Is that why you’re renovating in Taormina?

I took a semester of Italian many years ago so that I could sing along with opera. When I actually hear it spoken conversationally, it seems impossibly fast to understand. I’ll have to do total immersion at some point.

        Ciao!

          Hi KZ,

Taormina is hardly dying, but that’s not where I have built. Our renovation is on the other side of Catania about 75 kilometers away in a town called Brucoli, near Siracusa.

We did not sign up for any of those 1-euro deals, although some are legitimate. Friends from Catania found this place for us as they have a weekend home very nearby. There are a lot of great opportunities in Sicily and other places in Italy, but when you hear of those cheap deals to keep villages alive they are fraught with strings attached (such as you must use a particular contractor that the local “commune” has a relationship with,) and in many cases it is in order to drive out squatters who have made the town unattractive to buyers. It’s then up to you to figure out how to get the existing residents to leave, as Italian law favors the occupant over the property owner!

Lorraine Bracco’s experience in Sicily is not typical but it is instructive. She’s had to throw a lot of money at the project, but I think she will find it worth it.

Sicily is beautiful! There are a lot of popular misconceptions about it, but if you really have an affinity, study your Italian (I did an immersion course in Tuscany 25 years ago) and go for it! Property values are affordable and the cost of living is way below most US major metropolitan areas. We live in the San Francisco Bay area not far from Napa Valley, so our cost of living is among the highest in the US. If we can navigate the bureaucracy, we will be living here full-time in a couple of years.

          Buona fortuna!

I’m Larry Fraller (by the way, I don’t how, but ScreenwritingU got my last name wrong. No wonder I can’t find any of my other courses!)

I’ve written three features, several shorts, and a music video.

Mozart in the Jungle got me hooked on watching series. Ever since, I’ve been wanting to learn how to write one myself. If AI can keep me from writing in too many directions at once, I’m all for it. (and anything else I can learn)

While in college, I interviewed some fascinating people for college newspaper. Some interviews I absolutely botched.

I’ve taken ProSeries, MSC15 and several 30-day courses with ScreenwritingU.

written about 3 dozen features and 6 TV Pilots. I had 2 TV Pilots in development and 3 feature screenplays in line for funding – one of which the producer was going to send me to New York State to direct — all fell through. Now I write micro-budget features and make them myself – I have two in post production now and 2 more I am prepping to make late this year and next. I also have gotten many rewrite and consultant jobs, which have currently slowed up.

I have taken all the big courses and a few small ones.

I want to get better with AI – AND I have lately been totally into crime dramas and so want more of them made and so I have to write them.

Unusual is my first career I traveled the world doing a comedy-juggling act. After that I became a production sound mixer on over 350 projects. I had my hand on Justin Bibber’s butt to put a mic pack on him and also had Mick Jagger with his shirt pulled up to put a mic on him. Also 30 years ago I pitched Steven Spielberg my “Boy and his Dog” story on Matador Beach. He was gracious but nothing happened.

Hope the best for everyone here – let’s do this.

The news is so awful right now, it is almost unbearable. I have always admired writers who get their work done despite horrific world events, and I am determined to be one of those writers, rather than my usual pattern of allowing the outside world to send me into a downward spiral of sleepless nights and despair. Irene Nemirovsky wrote Suite Francaise while she was fleeing Paris ahead of the invading German army, and what is her story about? Characters fleeing Paris ahead of the German invasion! It’s insightful and funny (and the last thing she wrote before dying in a concentration camp). I envy that kind of focus. As Robert McKee wrote, “If history has taught us anything, it’s that when toxic nightmare is finally cleaned up, the homeless provided shelter, and the world converted to solar energy, each of us will still be up to our eyebrows in mulch.” The world situation is dire, but before I’m up to my eyebrows in mulch, I hope to write a great script, or play, or novel. I look forward to working with you all as we improve our binge-worthy skills.

    2. I’ve written around 20 scripts–all types. I enjoy reading, writing and editing them.

    3. I hope to find my AI brainstorming process. It seems wonderful at helping with ideas. I also hope to understand the Binge process as I don’t like most Binge series shows–they bore me. With the ones I do like, it’s the characters I find interesting. Although, most are not worth rewatching as much as a stand alone comedic episodic show. I hope to change that. Last, I think this class will help in writing a book series. I have one I have written–10 volumes, MG. Perhaps this class “binge process” is what I need to bring it together. I am open to write completely outside my comfort zone to learn the strategies taught.

    4. I love editing–a lot. I proof read scripts, editorials, copy–for various media. Also, I’m a proud First Class Girl Scout (Senior) Cadet. I am fluent in Swabian–hence, I mix up sentence structure–it’s frustrating. I am a Technical Live Theatre Production Professional–Sound/Audio Specialist–your basic, everyday, over practical nerd. Love doing yard work. Love the outdoors.

My name is Deanne, working on script 8, and I’m taking this class because I want to be fluent in AI as it relates to screenwriting. SU courses: ProSeries 69, MSC12, BWTV5, and many shorter courses.

What’s unique about me? Well, I’m writing this with a stainless steel mixing bowl on my head. There is a rational explanation. Family moved in with me and I was having internet problems, so this week I signed up with a second internet provider to create my own private internet connection. My only option was wifi, and the modem must be in my room. No problem for 20 minutes, then I got a headache. Turn off wifi, headache goes away. Turn on wifi, it comes back. So, I asked my good friend, Chatty Gupta (aka AIgor), if there are substances that block wifi signals. With customary alacrity and efficiency, Chatty replied in five seconds with a list, and pegged reflective metal as the substance most likely to block signals. Thus, the mixing bowl. I would find this ridiculous and hilarious — but it works. Wifi is on, privacy secured, no headache. Stay tuned for more posts from . . . The Outer Limits!

Hi Deanne. Your headache and solution remind me of Better Call Saul. Series on Netflix — spinoff from Breaking Bad. WiFi may yet be the death of us all, as conspiracy spirits might have it — also quite a few scientists. Glad you found a way to use the Internet before it abused you any further.

I am PJ, an aspiring scriptwriter who has authored three scripts. My intention is to harness the power of AI, a technology to which I had previously held strong objections, in order to craft a captivating series that showcases my storytelling prowess and simultaneously expands my professional network.

An intriguing facet of my identity that has recently emerged is my resemblance to the renowned figure, Anthony Bourdain. This uncanny resemblance was brought to my attention when I encountered an individual who had a personal connection to Mr. Bourdain, resulting in a profoundly emotional reaction.

My journey in scriptwriting has encompassed the completion of Pro Series 69, MSC 12, and partial progress in the Binge Worthy course. Regrettably, unforeseen life circumstances disrupted my path, leaving me with limited time to pursue my creative endeavors.

I would like to add that I have employed artificial intelligence to compose the aforementioned introduction, highlighting my newfound willingness to embrace this technology in my creative pursuits.

Written 15 scripts, including 7 features (one produced), one TV series pilot, a couple of webseries, several shorts ( 2 produced), and a couple of documentaries (both produced)

I stopped writing late in 2016 to devote myself to activism. I am trying to find my creative self again and get back to writing.

I’m TheBumblingMixologist (yeah, on Instagram). Plus I am obsessed with gardening, and have taken over all my yard with garden and most of the parkways by my corner lot (let’s not talk about codes . . .)

I was in ProSeries 26, Binge Worthy TV back in 2017, and I was in the first iteration of Screenwriting Certificate class

I’m looking forward to getting to work and getting to know you all.

      Two things:

      1. The “opening video” line was a typo from a previous class. The first video will be the one we create this Saturday.

      2. The BWTV with AI class won’t show up in “Your Screenwriting Classes” until Sunday when we post the first lesson.

        Hey Hal,

As in Pro Series and the Master Screenwriting classes, will it be possible to get the assignment before the Saturday class?

Some of us like to review lessons and handouts before the call/lesson, so it’s not all new material. That may be why there were questions regarding what the 5 Star Model elements were.

If we have the prompts ahead of time, the demo makes more sense, and we can take notes on our printed out lesson.

        Thanks,

    3. I’m hoping this class will help me to speed up the process of writing excellent TV pilots.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about me? I’ve traveled around the world in 83 days without the use of airplanes.

    5. ProSeries 37; Binge Worthy TV during 2019-2020 but I don’t recall what number it was; plus many other ScreenwritingU classes including MSC 15/16.

    4. I work in the Motion Picture Industry and I have been extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with some of the best in Hollywood. For example, early on in my career I worked with one of my childhood stars – Vincent Price.

I also am front the film industry but when people ask me my favorite actors that I’ve worked with, I say “The Pillsbury Dough Boy’ and Morris the Cat’..because both ‘hit their mark every time…

    2. I’ve written three feature film-length screenplays.

    3. I am reigniting my long-lost passion for screenwriting with this class. I love learning about new tech, so I am excited to use AI tools to help create unique scripts. I aspire to finish with an addictive BW comedy. With all the negativity around us, the world definitely needs more comedies!

    4. Something unique, special, strange, or unusual about me? Although I love to live and explore new and unusual places, I’ve had to set adventures aside and move back to my hometown to help care for my three (out of four) parents: my mom and mom-in-law have Alzheimer’s, and my dad has dementia… But I still live in a weird place, a storage facility (I’m not homeless, but a Resident Manager ;).

    5. I was in ProSeries 16, then completed the Rewrite class. I also had the incredible opportunity to accompany a small group along with my mom (also an aspiring screenwriter at the time), Hal, and Cheryl, to the DGA Awards in 2008.

I was terrified to think about Ai but once I got into it I was pretty amazed, and I know I will become a much better ‘scripter’.

Unusual? Well, I have the only endangered insect living in my back yard..the Rusty Patch Bumble Bee…and many years ago I was a character (under a different name) in ‘Superman’ comics..who beat up on Superman.

Hey, Griff… pleasure to meet you.

I’d like to hear more about how you decided on Sicily. My wife and I have been thinking about a similar move. Portugal was on the table. Now, we’re looking at Spain.

I produced a documentary about the Stones for Lorne Michaels called “25×5: The Continuing Adventures of the Rolling Stone.” My favorite moment was sitting in a hotel bar with Ron Wood and his wife talking about their wedding. What a delightful couple they were.

          Hi Kevin,

Sicily sort of found us. Italy has been our preferred destination for 25 years, then we made some good friends in Catania on the east end of the island from Palermo. We rented their weekend house in Brucoli once, then casually asked if there were other opportunities in that community, and about a year later they found us a house that we have been renovating.

We also considered Spain as we have a good friend near Malaga and we also love that area, but the opportunity in Sicily won out. And, no, it wasn’t one of those 1-euro deals (see my reply to KZ here in the forum.)

In Portugal, we attempted to find a bad wine, but we failed.

My only Rolling Stones story is running into Ronnie Wood at Dan Tana’s in Beverly Hills back in the early 80’s. I think it was he who ran into me on his way to the floor after falling off his bar stool.

There are a lot of great opportunities in Sicily and elsewhere in Italy (friends of ours are renovating a house in Abruzzo) so if you want some pointers stay in touch!

          Buon divertimento!

I retired (gave up?) from 40 years in television production and will be soon moving permanently to Sicily, if we can ever navigate the Retirement Visa (insert headache here.)

Unique about me? I suffered a stroke almost two years ago and I am recently back to writing. I think AI may be able to help replace some of the brain cells that were scrambled in that stroke.

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s discoveries about AI.

I’m Jerry Robbins, and I’ve written a lot of scripts; most I’ve just tossed aside or never finished; one at present is in pre-production. I have had some shorts produced. I would like to know more about AI and how to use it to write a TV series. I was doing some prose on a book in January and began to experiment with AI, mostly for rewriting, which I found to be quite useful. I’ve also discovered that it is excellent at research if you are nice to it and tell it in precise terms what you need. It also makes you think of things you wouldn’t have otherwise. I’ve used several different types. I’m hoping to get a better idea for prompting it as well as getting organized to write a TV series. I took either the 43 or 44 ProSeries and a number of other classes, including the Bingeworthy horror and thriller classes.

    2. Four drafts and a partial TV pilot for a limited adventure series. Began learning to write screenplays in 2017.

    3. Putting these great new skills to use on developing a new t.v. series idea and applying them to my other one.

    4. Unique? You bet. Special? No doubt. Strange? Depends who you ask. Unusual? Not really. Evidence? Hardly.

    5. I was in ProSeries 76, and have taken a bunch of other courses here and elsewhere, and this is my first Binge Worthy TV class since I only thought about doing a series in the last year or so.

Am grateful to be part of this with y’all.

I’ve written two full-length stage plays and many shorts and monologues using skills I’ve learned through SU.

I seek to use AI efficiently to produce many, many scripts quickly.

I might be addicted to Hal’s voice, and I’m from the hometown of Doc Holiday. It’s in GA.

Enjoyed SU’s AI classes, and BW and WIM.

I’m Eric Geier. Originally from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I now live in Boca Raton, FL. I’ve started several scripts, but have yet to finish a single one. My goal (not hope) is to allow myself the space to break out of my comfort zone, trust a process that I’m unfamiliar with, and produce material that could help me to break through the rut that my life is/has been in for some time.

My passion is helping to save homeless, abused and exploited animals. By far, my worst habit, is my obsession with political news – hoping this class takes enough of my time to provide a much needed distraction.

2.I’ve written 3 scripts and many rewrites on scripts originally authored by other writers. I just finished the second draft of my latest script which has been 3 years in the making. I am on the 3rd draft and hope to complete in the next couple months.

    3. I want to write amazing binge worthy tv series. I’m thinking of adapting an age old script and turning it into something new. I feel learning it with AI will help me not only improve my writing leaps and bounds but speed up my writing. I am very slow when it comes to writing.

    4. My life was headed for the stars when I was in high school. I wanted to an astronaut. But after three fateful twists in my life, the last one could have resulted me being blasted to kingdom come, I realized the universe had something else in mind for me. So I studied and became an architect and worked on some fascinating buildings, which I still keep my hand in on small projects. I also studied film and then became a production executive in hollywood. I shepherded and made happen a very successful film franchise. While I was an executive, writers (even a few big ones) loved my notes because they were always very clear and constructive. So it was natural for me to turn to writing for myself. What a huge surprise when I found out how difficult it was to translate notes and ideas into a really good script. I have taken a zillion courses and my writing only started to improve when I took my first course here at Screenwriting U.

    5. I was in Proseries 72, Binge TV 7, and Writing Incredible Movies 1.

Here’s wishing you all good luck! I look forward to working with y’all.

    2. How many scripts you’ve written? Working on a 7-episodes Limited Series based on my Book Murder on False River, written a contained script, more Limited Series scripts based on my books Political Treason, and Underwriting is Murder, and now will be working on a Binge Worthy TV AI script.

    3. What you hope to get out of the class? The more I go through SU classes the more confident I become as a writer. Did not start writing until I retired. Now that I am writing I consider myself semi-retired.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? Where do I start? When 9/11 hit, I was taking flying lessons (dropped lessons for fear of the “unfriendly skies” 🙂 ), I ran for Louisiana State Senator (didn’t make it, but it became the basis for my first book in which my heroine ran and won State Senator), I was appointed Executive Director for the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs (also great book material), I drive a 2019 Corvette convertible (after trading in my 50th Anniversary Edition ‘Vette), and am now looking to make something of myself as a writer!

    5. What ProSeries, Writing Incredible Movies, or Binge Worthy TV class you were in. I was in the ProSeries Class, the Master Screenwriter Class, and a few others.

I look forward to working with all of you and am tremendously excited about starting a new venture!!!

    Hi. Patrick McCormick here.

I desire to become functional with BW+AI

I’ve worked with the Kingdom of Hawaii issue since 1990, and now prepare to bring it into a bingeworthy level. With this recent, highly suspect event on Maui in August of 2023, Hawaii is now front and center of the world stage. Having insider information about Hawaii no one else has, which seems so out there it can’t be real, the only way to present this is through a High-Powered series.

I did the BW back in 2018, and now its time to bring it home on the screen

    3. I hope to learn how to make AI an interactive writing companion, helping me get through the mental blocks stopping me from completing my scripts.

    4. I have a U.S. patent for a card game that simulates the stock market: https://patents.google.com/patent/US20110285085A1

How many scripts have I written? I can’t say as I’m old and piddle with the writing a lot. It’s my therapy. BUT, I’m kind of proud of 4 or 5 scripts.

What do you hope to get out of this? I wrote a screenplay that won lots of awards. I hope to turn it into a series and write the pilot with AI. Hopefully this class will help.

Something unique, special or strange about yourself. I’d like to give the Hannibal Lecter answer. “If you knew what was in the food, you wouldn’t even want to eat it.”

What Pro-Series etc. did you take? I think it was Pro Series 23 or something and a lot of other Hal Courses. At one of his workshops, I met Marla Hayes. She was from Canada and after that workshop, she always messaged me and made friend suggestions and asked how I was doing. When I hadn’t heard from her for a while, I researched and sadly found out she died. Just wanted to say a few words in remembrance. A very nice person.

*I’m Andrew Bailey, and usually go by Andy. I live in New York City.

*I’ve written 2 TV pilots and one feature, none produced. One of them was for a dermatologist to the stars, who was as shallow and ridiculous as you could imagine. But I got experience writing in an area I wasn’t familiar with (and didn’t care much about) and I made him see his world in a different, more absurd way. But he was unwilling to poke fun at his own profession, haha, so we parted ways.

*I’m an AI skeptic with a concept (or story world) that ChatGPT doesn’t understand, so I’m here to see where I can go with that. Hoping to improve my writing along the way.

*I work in the industry, in the art-house realm, in marketing and publicity, and wrote CINEMA NOW for Taschen Books some years back. I have a history of writing about movies.

*I was in the Bingeworthy TV class during the pandemic, and I also took the Thriller class.

    1. I’m Paige Macdonald.

    2. I’ve written over two dozen scripts and 1 TV pilot. I did complete my first writing assignment for a producer (three drafts) last year. I’ve kept my day job. 🙂

    3. What you hope to get out of the class? Time is a precious commodity for me these days, so I’m hoping to use AI as my assistant. I want to write and complete projects, while I maintain my breadwinner role, though I dare to dream that writing could one day be that (sufficient) paycheck and career.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I logged over 371 skydives, though I sold my parachute rig back in 2007 when my to-be husband swore he would never, ever join me there. 😂

    5. ProSeries 74, MSC 15/16, Rewrite, Contained. I’ll agree with another person’s comment here: my confidence level has vastly increased with each and every passing class. I have even applied the “How to deal with Producers” aspect to my day job and upped my worth in that world significantly in 2 years time. These classes are very helpful and valuable.

    Glad to be back!

I love to travel, and up until Covid, I had visited 37 countries on 5 continents.

I took the Bingeworthy Class in 2022, it might have been BW16, but I’m not sure. I’ve also taken the Exceptional Scenes and Great Endings classes, but I don’t know if they’re even offered anymore.

    3. I’m working on a suspense thriller using Hal’s screenwriting techniques. I thought I would try to write the TV Series as well.

    4. I signed up for what I thought was to be a great camping trip for 30 days in the Southern Utah desert. I had everything I would ever need: a couple of great books, shampoo, hair conditioner, sleeping bag, pad, cute hat, sunglasses, TP paper, suntan lotion, etc. . . .

The first day, they told us to put everything in the back of a truck and we would be getting it later. Later was 30 days later. 30 days in the same clothes, no hat, sunglasses, hairbrush, rubber bands, TP paper . . . eating snakes, sleeping in bat caves, chewing on dead carcass tendons to attach arrowheads we chipped, to bows we made, repelling cold turkey down a several hundred-foot cliff, swept away by flash floods in dry riverbeds, with nothing but a 6-inch pocketknife they gave us. I you ever need someone to start a fire by rubbing two sticks together, in the pouring rain, on the edge of a creek where every cougar, bobcat, wolves, coyote, rattler comes to drink in the evening . . . I’m your girl!

    5. I have taken 18 of Hal’s classes. All amazing, including the BWTV.

    Here’s the takeaway . . .

<font face=”inherit”>When the pain is too much, and you realize you can’t make it one more step, physically; you </font>shut off your body, and let your mind take you someplace else.

<font face=”inherit”>When the agony is too much, and you can’t stand it one more </font>minute; you shut off your mind and just put one foot in front of the other. <font face=”inherit”> </font>

Hi, my name is Jeff Tolstad.

I’ve written 4 movie scripts, non sold or optioned…yet

I hope to reignite my writing skills and success in this class after a long hiatus from writing. This idea of using AI to help generate ideas is fascinating and I hope to use it to kick start my next career.

I graduated from PS43 in 2013. Took the Profound, Comedy, ReWrite, Subtext and Thriller classes. Was enrolled in MSC5 in 2015 and got to Phase 3 (writing a new script) when I also started classes to get my MBA from USC. I had to drop out of MSC5 in 2016 as I just could not handle the work load for both courses. After I received my MBA, I was hired as an Associate Dean at the USC School of Medicine, which position I left recently. Prior to that gig, I was a Pediatric Anesthesiologist for 25 years.

Along the road of my life, I have acted on stage in community theater and in 4 low budget indie movies- all as creative outlets during what spare time I had.

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Vanco and I’ve written 3 commissioned scripts (2 for Hollywood producers, and one in France), none of which have gone into production, and one documentary that came out in 2012. I have also written a 2-part play in French that was staged in Paris which I then turned into a series.

I am hoping to harness the power of AI in order to create a tailor-made, valuable assistant.

As a Shakespeare scholar, my background as a writer is grounded in all of the principles of dramatic writing used by early modern playwrights, most notably, classical rhetoric. I share my time between Malibu, Paris and Stratford-upon-Avon.

I was in the very first BW class.

I’m delighted to be able to participate fully in the group, as I am currently in Malibu!!

I’ve taken many SU courses including Pro Series, Incredible Movies, Bingeworthy the first time, been on development teams, and am a Hal champion! I’m a huge Miami Dolphins fan, so loving the sports team life right now. I also teach film and theatre in a private school and I’m doing a deep dive into AI and using it in teaching my classes, so looking forward to getting more familiar with how to get it to behave! 🙂

I am on my 4th career. Started as an actor in NYC, member of SAG/AFTRA, AEA, and DGA. Then became a director and designer in theatre, then an Artistic Director of 2 professional theaters and a film producer, and now teaching. Screenwriting and producing are next and doing so from Hawaii within the next 5 years…

    1. I’m Meg Stout and I’m paying for my daughter, Annie Palmer, to also attend this course because she has awesome screenwriting instincts and I want to be able to collaborate with her. She’ll be here once she gets her login information.

    2. How many scripts you’ve written? I’ve written several scripts – around ten?

    3. What you hope to get out of the class? I’m so excited to explore how AI can be tasked to be an assistant and also excited to be reminded about elements of this course, which was one of the first ScreenwritingU courses I took.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I got into screenwriting in 2018 to help out a friend who wanted to get back into being a producer. Within a week I had written the first version of the script and after 15 days my script had been sent over to China in search of funding. I’ve spent about 40 years working for the Navy doing research related to submarines. I had at least one colleague who’d read my writing demand why I was working for the Navy instead of writing for a living.

    5. What ProSeries, Writing Incredible Movies, or Binge Worthy TV class you were in. I did BWTV starting May 2021 and I was in the final ProSeries course [PS 81].

    Hi everyone, I’m Frances Rice.

I have written 25 scripts of various genres, including black history documentaries, some of which I have produced, and a TV series pilot that I wish to elevate to a higher level in this class, using AI.

Currently, I am marketing a science fiction feature-length screenplay that features a black woman superhero and an all-black cast set in a futuristic world with space-age technology.

What is unusual about me is how in my screenwriting, I focus on what inspires me, the black experience.

I have taken multiple ScreenwritingU classes, including the ProSeries, the BWTV and the AI class.

    Hi Everyone,

I’m Lin Fuentes. I’ve written and rewritten multiple times 2 screenplays as I try to learn this craft I’ve become addicted to called script writing. Screenwriting U has been and remains instrumental in my learning. I have many ideas, but want to focus on learning from trying different things on these two screenplays to enhance my deeper understanding of writing great screenplays that are entertaining and marketable.

My hope for this course is to learn a new skill set that will attract producers to my scripts.

    Hi everyone,

    I’m Kath Hewitt.

I have written scripts for 4 different projects, a bingeworthy TV series, a movie thriller, and 2 unique comedy series that I have written multiple episodes for.

I hope to learn from this class how to leverage the AI technology to elevate my storytelling skills and move from good writer to great writer and get one of my scripts sold and produced.

Something special is that my first bingeworthy TV series pilot “Dangerous Allies” received a Double Recommend when I submitted it for coverage. This was due in large part, to all the great tips I learned in Hal’s Bingeworthy TV class.

I was in the Proseries 54 class, Writing Bingeworthy TV, and several others.

    I’m excited to be here!

I hope to get out of this class is a much faster process of writing and a way to Unstick myself every time I get stuck. Which has been causing me to pause my writing for long periods of time. One thing unusual about me is I am one of fifty Black Script Supervisors World Wide. I have taken the Binge Worthy TV class twice. I look forward to meeting all of you soon.

    2. I’ve written four scripts, the most recent being with the Writing Incredible Movies class. Now I intend to rewrite the other three.

    3. I have both a stage play and a novel than lend themselves well to being series. I hope to develop both with this class.

    4. Maybe I’m unusual for having traveled in every state and on every continent except Antarctica, which I viewed from a cruise ship.

5, I’m just now in Module 7 of Writing Incredible Movies, so I’ll be finishing that up while I start this one.

    1. Hello my SU, family. My name is Deni B. Sher.

    2. I’ve written approximately 8 scripts… maybe 10. I have one under contract that I co-wrote with Ferdinand Gernandt, who I met in ProSeries class. I have optioned two more, however Covid affected one of them and the other happened before strike, so when actors are available hopefully that one will be produced. I started studying with SU about 8 years ago and everything I know is from SU and I have a degree in English.

3.I hope to learn to us AI like an A-list writer and I hope to acquire a love for writing for TV, as I prefer writing features.

    4. I have traveled to 136 countries during my 20 years with my late husband, Arthur.

    5. I have taken many classes, ProSeries I think 6 & 8, Profound Screenwriting, Binge Worthy 4 TV, Comedy, Mini-Movie Method, Subtext, Maximum Entertainment Class, Action Class, Writing a script in 30 days class… “The more I learn, the more I’ll gain!!”

Hi all. My name is Pat Semler

I’ve written a ridiculous number of scripts, closing in on 20 features and multiple episodes for my television dramas. I’m concentrating on 4 features to promote at the moment. A short script was filmed last year and premiered at the Hamilton Film Festival and CenFlo Film Festival earlier this year. Presently I’m working with the Palm Springs Women in Film & Television on developing my winning short script into full production.

I’m very excited to learn more about this AI business. I hear such vitriol, fear and condemnation of using this program that I believe knowing its abilities and shortcomings, and there are shortcomings, can only be beneficial to my screenwriting.

I’m closing in on 25 years at an Orlando theme park where I graduated from costume dresser to Pyro technician for the premier stunt show for 19 of those years. Setting out the fireworks was cool enough. Lighting a performer on fire for the finale was epic, and very seriously taken by all involved to keep our people safe. Happy to report we never had a major injury from a fire burn.

I attended ProSeries 44 and several classes over the years, culminating in the AI classes that absolutely blew me away. I’m looking forward to expanding a couple of feature ideas into binge worthy mini-series.

    My name is Lee Tidball.

I’ve written probably around a dozen scripts (and endless rewrite versions of most). Two have been optioned before, 3 have had shopping agreements signed for them. I’m working on my 3rd book adaptation. Several scripts/novels that I’ve written have been write-for-hire projects.

In this class, I hope to learn how to us AI to enhance and speed up the process of devising a marketable TV series concept, writing amazing marketing materials, and a killer pilot script. Besides this all-new project, I hope this class will help me do a better job of my current book adaptation also, which will be written as a limited TV series.

I’ve started and successfully run two non-profit organizations for elementary-junior high age kids, one a track and field team that I coached for over 20 seasons, and another, a children’s community theater company, where I was the director for 4 musicals that we put on for the public for 4 years in the summer.

I was in ProSeries 15 way back in 2006 or 8 or something, I was in the 2nd Master of Screenwriting Certificate class in 2014-15 (now replaced by Writing Incredible Movies), and I took the 2nd Binge Worthy TV class.

    3. I’ve been using AI for ideation for a while (like a writing group that lives in my computer that doesn’t mind if I brainstorm at 2am) so I want to dial down on how best to use AI and dig into developing a show based on some of my IP

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

I had surgery about an hour after my Civil Procedure final in law school. Had to beg the doc to let me wait until I had taken the final, because no way was I wasting all that studying for something, comparatively speaking to a 1L, as trivial as removing a spleen!

Hello, writers! I’m Veleka, now residing in New Orleans. I’ve been studying with Hal since June, 2010, and taken every class he’s offered, and I think I am finally catching on as to how to craft a winning script! I spent the first two decades of my life as a professional singer, starting at age eight singing radio jingles for Dixie Maid Sugar. The second two decades I was a professional actress on Broadway, had lead and supporting roles in movies, prime time, and fifteen years starring on soaps. The next two decades have been spent as an acting coach, narrating audio books for Audible, and learning to write. I’ve written 14 screenplays and produced most of them with my acting students as the cast, and I’m in production right now with another one, a Web series this time. I’ve studied with McKee, Truby, Hauge, Vogler, and almost everyone else, but I keep taking Hal’s classes because he’s a genius. After meeting Geoff Fairbanks at one of Hal’s Career Launch events in Burbank, Geoff suggested I add how I taught acting classes inside of San Quentin prison in San Francisco, and I can now handle any kind of guff from knaves in the biz. 😉

Hello Veleka, nice to see you again. I was in the ProSeries with you a few years ago.

Did you live in N.O. back then? I was just thinking about the Fairmont Hotel when I met a professional accordionist in Taormina, Sicily, over the weekend. I was telling the story of being in Sazerac restaurant (now gone, I think) when an accordionist and tenor entered the room. Being a musician, I expected the worst. But they were wonderful!

I haven’t been back to ‘Nawlins since Katrina and I hope it has regained some of its former glory and not been too consumed by the big corporate interests.

I have been down the Robert McKee and John Truby paths, not to mention Blake Snyder (RIP.) I don’t usually mention them here as I think it gives Hal the heeby-jeebies.

Look forward to working with you on this AI journey.

    Hi, I’m Benita Saxen.

I have written a couple scripts and have many swirling around.

My intention with this class is to break out of my shell and be seen with my writing. Time stops when I spend time writing; my heart stops when I think of releasing it to the wild.

I have a business background and this year, started my own bookkeeping company with the intention of dedicating more time to creating while manifesting cashflow.

I seek to feel the fun in life. Grandma always said that something good can come out of something bad, and I took that to heart. I’m often heard saying, “Well, that’s going in the screenplay; I’ll change the names.”

I started Polynesian dancing when I was 7 years old and embraced the Aloha spirit early on with a Tahitian, “Ia Orana” (yo-rah-nah) kick. Stitch: 626 is my Patronus and I love witty humour in stories. I am from Canada, BC, and am okay when the spelling of squiggly lines under my words, as it reminds me that I’m from the North. And yes, Winter is coming, but not before Hallowe’en.

I have taken ProSeries 46, Comedy, Horror, AI for Screenwriting. I just enrolled in “How to Get Paid Writing Assignments.” Excited and dedicated for this chapter.

Thank you for sharing in this writing community.

    Kindly,

    Benita

Though I took the Hal’s AI seminar back in July, and the Bingeworthy TV class five years ago, I hope to get an update on the Bingeworthy methods and learn how to specifically apply AI research to the TV series writing process. I’m polishing my last two screenplays at the same time so it’s going to be a busy couple months. Retired pretty much from my advertising career — most recently writing/producing/directing TV commercials and videos at my own production company. Have taken/audited many ScreenwritingU classes over the years… most recently “Unstoppable,” “Write a screenplay in 30 days” and “Professional Re-write Class.” Looking forward to this class.

    Hello, I’m Jennifer Miller.

I’ve written just under ten scripts.

My goal for this class is to acquire a dependable, step-by-step process that I can consistently rely on to craft thrilling narratives. I’m excited about the prospect of developing a reliable blueprint for mapping out these complexities.

Unique, special, strange, or unusual about me – perhaps this is one or many of these things – In 2017, a year after completing a graduate degree in screenwriting, I was feeling pretty lost and disheartened with my life and career. So, one day, I made the choice to slay the professional screenwriting dragon with a clear head, armed with clarity of mind, body, and spirit, and I quit drinking and partying like a rockstar. And I have never looked back. What I’ve learned – sobriety is rewarding, graduate school not so much. Also I love writing, and it’s finally becoming fun for me again. I hope the same for all of you.

Taking a cue from Cheryl, I’m excited to collaborate with each of you on this incredible screenwriting adventure.

    2. With eight scripts completed (cue “Fade Out”), several in the developmental pipeline, and a handful adapted into three TV pilots—following the advice of industry experts involved in my projects—there’s an overwhelming work-in-progress flow, and a tremendows lack of time.

    3. The advent of AI was a game-changer for me, as I am an ESL writer, and especially in the exhaustive research required for my TV series. I’m truly grateful for this incredible opportunity, eagerly ready to propel my projects towards their final stages.

I have written 2 screenplays and 3 TV pilots. Just completed the pitch bible for a series. That was much harder than writing a script. Have 3 other concepts on the back burner.

By delving into AI, I hope to improve brainstorming and be able to write faster. I took the original Binge Worthy course and will use this one as a refresher.

I have a long career as a film editor. Love to travel, love dogs and other critters. I worked with Sonny Grosso, one of the detectives The French Connection was based on.

    Hi, I’m Noree Victoria.

I’ve written 3 scripts, one has been optioned.

I hope to elevate my writing skills with AI.

Something unique: I was recruited by the CIA after completing my Master’s Degree with a 4.0 GPA (they came to my school to meet with me) but I declined.

I did Bingeworthy TV 9 and MSC 16.

*I won’t be able to attend every live class but I’ll catch the recordings.

    Hello TV Writers!!!

    1. I am Thai Loe

    2. I’ve written 4 features, 2 TV pilots, and 8 episodes of an audio drama.

    3. Hope for Class: Kick my TV writing into higher gear.

    4. About Me: I was obsessed with computers as a child in the 70s… I used to code computer games on a TI994A home computer for my friends to play. It’s so exciting to be alive in this world to watch the growth of computers over the last 50 years.

    5. Prior courses include: ProSeries 59 & Binge-Worthy TV 2017

So excited to be in this group!

Hello all, I am Storm. Apologies for getting on the class so late. Sudden death in the family took me away for a bit. But I want to make the determination to get my head back in the game. I hope I can get caught up with everyone.

    2. I have written 2 features (drama) and working on several T.V. series (serial killer, a comedy musical, and dramedy on the road)

    3. I hope to learn the aspects of A.I. that I can use to help me with a “bible” and put together a full package for potential producers. I have a lot of experience working on sets (Film/TV), and editing film. However, I have always been a writer and really want together my stuff out there.

    4. Something unique: I am a skier who loves to sing on the mountain 😀

    5. What ProSeries: Writing Incredible Movies, Binge Worthy TV bootcamp, Character Mastery, Writing Incredible Movies.

    Hello,

I was traveling this past week, so I’m late to this forum, but better late than never!

    1. Mark Boeder

    2. I’ve written four feature scripts; no TV pilots

    3. I had never considered — and have no training in — writing for TV/streamers, so I really want to learn a new set of skills.

    4. I grew up on a dairy farm and spent my childhood doing chores (while playing movies in my head).

    5. I was in a “Mastering the Thriller” screenwriting course several years ago.

    Hi everyone,

My name is Amechi Ngwe. I’ve written over 20 features and am closing in on 10 tv pilots.

I’m hoping to learn how to use AI effectively to help me create some new projects and get them finished quickly. I’m also hoping to use it to finish projects that I usually burn out on.

I was in PS 41, MSC 4, and Binge Worthy TV 4 I believe as well.

    Good luck everyone!

    2. Written over 50 scripts.

    3. I’m hoping to greatly speed up my process of developing a solid pilot and TV series concept.

    4. Something unusual about me is that I’ve had a European movie production of one of my specs, with the director and crew on location and stars committed, hanging in limbo for three months while the producers scramble to lock up the money.

    5. MSC 10, Bingeworthy in 2018.

    2. I have finished 7 or 8 scripts. I have started and abandoned literally dozens. I’m writing a news script based on an original idea from the BW Bootcamp.

    3. I want to be able to develop a pilot, series bible that is unique and intriguing.

    4. Something unique about me is that I’ve spent my career working in energy. My pilot is about climate change from that perspective.

    5. I’m putting everything on hold until I finish this course.

Hey. I’m Robert. I’ve written a dozen scripts and a book or series to go with each. Been using AI for nearly a year and am thrilled to have a technology that’s easy for a non-tech writer like me to use. I’ve taken many courses with Hal, and feel Bingeworthy is the best. Adding AI makes it spectacular. Good luck to all!

    1. I’m Jenn Quintenz.

    2. I’ve been a staff writer on three hour-long TV shows (most well-known is MTV’s TEEN WOLF), and I’ve written many features, novels, and graphic novels.

    3. I hope to learn some great brainstorming strategies and increase my writing speed. Also, it would be awesome to come out of this class with a brilliant new pilot.

    4. Well, for the past five months, my husband, 12-year-old son, 9-year-old son, and two dogs have been living in one room while our house was torn down and rebuilt. It’s been surprisingly easier than I anticipated, and we all still like each other.

    5. I’ve taken the ProSeries and Binge Worthy TV classes, as well as Thrillers, Horror, and a few others.

Hello to my ScreenwritingU family! I started taking classes ten years ago at SU. I knew zero about screenwriting at the time, but had a degree in English and a background as an actress on stage doing children’s theater in my 30s, and was the owner/president of a computer company for 14 years. I Feel blessed to have found SU! I have taken just about every class offered as I believe the only thing people can’t take away from you is knowledge! I have written about 8-9 scripts over the years. I have about 6 with recommends from a script consultant. I have 3 options and 2 scripts are in pre-production. Covid ruined my first option… timing is everything.

I am taking AI to help me think out of the box and enhance ideas. It amazes me how fast AI works. There’s no doubt this class will take our writing to the next level.

Something unique about me is that during my marriage of 20 years, my husband took me to 136 countries. He literally gave me the world before passing away in 2019. He was always the wind beneath my wings and he still is….

I can’t wait to get to know more of you. I have made many life-long friends in these classes and without help from other writers I wouldn’t be where I am today!! Thank you. You know who you are!
