Introduce Yourself to the Group
Posted by cheryl croasmun on December 4, 2023 at 7:21 amHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

My name is Nikola Curcin.
So far I wrote three screenplays, two were produced in feature films by myself and one by a National TV Station in former Yugoslavia.
I am not a native speaker of English, but I am pretty much okay with written English. I hope to improve my screenwriting.
There is nothing unique about me, except that we are all unique individuals. I could be the oldest man in the group.
Thank you all.

I just finished listening to the opening audio. What did I learn from the Opening Audio? To keep creating and expanding my ideas and not to get hung up on perfection, especially in early stages. I was delighted that Hal has given us the opportunity to hire “his guy” for feedback at such reasonable prices. I have to say that the section on critiques and criticism really rang true to me. I have paid for coverage and entered contests and I have found the critiques are all over the place. I have received a finalist award from a prestigious contest for a script that another person might find little value in….It has taught me to believe first and foremost in my gut when reading a critique and also be aware of the origin of the person giving criticism. Not all critiques are created equal! I love that Hal is so careful to keep everything respectful. Writers should be respected!

1. Name? Andre
2. How many scripts you’ve written? 5+
3. What you hope to get out of the class? To write the best script of my life thus far, is what I hope to get out of this class.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? Something unique, special, strange or unusual about me is… With the intention in being an astronaut, I was accepted into the usaf space program. Yet a medical misdiagnosis ended my career. The subsequent political and medical cover-up is less than patriotic. The unusual part about Me is the near death experience culminating in the medical release, that was/is not understood by western medicine nor political bias. Neither have stopped by interest in Space.

Hi everyone,
My name is Vernall Ritchey. I have written 3 scripts, all of which I am trying to make great from the lessons learned from this course. My goal is to produce and direct the scripts I have written.

Hi, everyone. Pamela Rice here.
The project I’ve chosen for this class will be my 4th script. The first 2 were Hallmark-type concepts I co-wrote with my husband. One of our concepts got produced and aired on the Hallmark channel, and we currently have a Christmas script under option agreement.
By taking this class, I hope to add more skills to my arsenal (I’ve taken about a dozen other SU classes), and to have my writing process feel natural and struggle-free.
I enjoyed Hal’s empowering visualization process in the Opening Audio, where we imagine ourselves having LOTS OF FUN doing our assignments VERY QUICKLY. I’ve added my own twist to this: while I work, I imagine the Benny Hill kazoo theme playing in the background. LOL, it works!
What’s unique about me? I’ve been a graphic designer for over 25 years; I started my writing journey in 2019 with Hal’s COMEDY class. Additionally, my hubby and I run a doggie daycare business.
Looking forward to taking the class with all of you!

I’ve started about a dozen scripts. And, finished none but I’m changing that now.
My plan for this class is to help push me to finish my scripts and become a great writer. The NLP type exercises are right up my alley and I’m looking forward to this course. Over a decade ago, I took Hal’s Pro Series class. I got so much out of it, I’m back for more. After the Pro Series, I actually started producing films and have a few under my belt (even obtained distribution).
Hmmm unique, special, strange or unusual? I have a mild case of synesthesia which for me is seeing music. I’ve had four kidney transplants and have worked as an Environmental Scientist over 30+ years. But I’m retiring next year and will have an abundance of time to write…

Hello everyone! I’m Chundra, Nashville Tennessee native. I’ve written 3 scripts with my most recent being most dear to me. My goal is to expand my writing abilities for studio production and gain as much knowledge to further my career as well as network.
-
1. Name? John P. Hallar
2. How many scripts you’ve written? I’ve written roughly six scripts and one book.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? Everything I can! I want to create incredible movies/scripts so why not give this class a chance!
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I was somewhat raised by two alcoholic parents. I’m a father of one Aspergers child, one trans individual which happens to be the same person. My wife and own our own non-medical in-home health care business. I currently have a 93 year old veteran who has been a honey hole of story content. 🙂

1. Name: Tim Encinas
2. How many scripts you’ve written: 0
3. What you hope to get out of the class: I am a psychotherapist and director of a clinic in West Los Angeles. In my profession, metaphorically speaking, I am a collector of stories, experiences and a witness of the journey of others and their tragedies, inspirations, hopes and humanity. It is my hope to be able to translate the paradoxical and complex nature of the human experience into screenplay.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I have varied interests and hobbies. I am a Zen practitioner, a lover of the arts and nature, health and wellness and just trying to be a good man in an imperfect world.

What I learned from the opening audio:
Mindset matters, and that we need to focus on taking measured risks towards “what matters” in the face of fear and uncertainty.

My Vision: I find the time to create well-written scripts that sell and are produced.
What I learned: This assignment was more a declaration of what I had put together in the other assignments.
We were told to post this under forums for first time. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to post it under Introduce yourself to Group…but here goes.

GENRE: Sci/Fi
CONCEPT: In the future, in the attempt to wipe evil from the Earth, robots take away free will and allow only goodness, tasking one man, hidden away, to record humanity’s true history.
CHARACTER STRUCTURE: Protagonist/Antagonist
