Posted by cheryl croasmun on February 19, 2024 at 5:13 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Hoping to successfully convert my script to a feature film.
I’ve crossed the Atlantic on the Queen Mary II.

Hi there. I’m Layla O’Shea. I’m a recently repped screenwriter who moved to LA about 18 months ago (after raising three kids!). I have a produced feature on Amazon Prime, TubiTV and some other platforms.
I’ve written 4 features, 2 hour pilots, and several short scripts.
I signed up for this course because I want to feel more confident about pitching in hopes of getting more projects on the big screen or TV.In terms of something a bit unusual about me, I had to learn all the Zip code ranges for each state back when I was sorting packages by hand for UPS. Has come in handy a couple of times when I noticed someone had the wrong Zip code for a certain state on a package or letter. LOL. 😀
Looking forward to “meeting” fellow creatives. 😉 -
Hello everyone. I am Richard Senne
I’ve written 9 scripts. I’ve written 4 quality ones since learning you write to market as well as telling a good story.
I am in this class to get more comfortable with marketing. I am looking forward to “I am really happy marketing my script.” Which is amazing to me, because I enjoy talking and discussing with people, so why don’t I feel they are my peers? When I cross that hurdle it’s clear sailing.
There are a few quirky, special things about me, it’s deciding if I can let others in on them lol. I started playing music professionally at 13. I retired from touring when I was 29, and I have retired from most playing now. I enjoy running the sound board currently. Last year I was a quarter finalist in Page. I currently have a script with Believe Entertainment. We are discussing if they move forward with it. I am hopeful they give me a writing assignment as well, we have discussed that. Three weeks ago Tony asked me to write another script and send it in. The outline is completed and I’m currently 12 pages into the writing of the first draft. I have been a judge in a screenwriting competition, this is my third year, at Tipsy Hiccup Productions. You should all enter the competition, it’s half price for ScreenwritingU Alumni.
I look forward to seeing what everyone gets out of this class and interacting with you all.

My name is Nick Walsh
I have written four feature scripts and one TV Pilot. I wrote all but one while taking SU classes over the past six years. Because of Hal’s great models (and I was fortunate that he taught “live” in those early classes), they have all had no less than semi-finalist results, with one being one of five finalists at Page in ’21.
I dread this class, but must learn to get over my fear of talking about my work. This is my greatest weakness and is keeping me from achieving ultimate success. I have the fear of success.
I have 60+ cats and they all have names and they only allow me to write in short spurts during the day and far into the night.

Sixty! That added Zero is not a typo? Haha. Lots of love there! Congrats on all your success so far. 😀

John Orlock
I’ve one completed screenplay, and working drafts of two others.
Have written number of stage plays produced in regional theaters throughout the U.S., as well as theaters in Ireland and at the Hungarian National Theatre.
I want to boost my marketing/ networking skills, and then take the next steps to have my screenplays produced.
I’m an ardent fly fisherman.

Hi, I’m Jenna. I’ve written 3 features (including an adaptation), 3 pilots, and countless TV specs. I was lucky to have had a manager take my 2 recent features out two years ago, but we didn’t find them a home. I turned down an option, which I now regret. On my own, I’ve probably sent 1,000 queries for my adaptation which was a Chicago Tribune “Best Book of the Year” (not New York Times, sorry). And yes, I legally optioned the book with my own financial resources. 🙂 It is a very timely topic with roles for a diverse cast, so I must be missing something. I’m hoping this class will help me hone my pitch and improve my query letters, and ultimately end up with a sale/option! This introvert is open-minded and excited to be here! Thank you!

Hi Everyone, Glad to get to join you although about 10 days late.
I’ve written a TV Pilot for a series and outlined all the episodes and written four other feature scripts, a stage play and about 14 short stories.
I hoping to get some ideas about where to market as well as motivation to pitch my series which I’ve just copyrighted.
I’m a retired lawyer, refugee from Southern California, happily living in Middle Tennessee on a 24 acre farm with chickens, mini horse, donkey, 3 barn cats, 2 rescued Tree Walker Coon hounds, 700 + peach and apple trees and lots of wonderful neighbors. It’s a great life!

My name is David Becker and I live in the Hertfordshire Hills outside London.
I’ve written four feature scripts. The one I did for MSC15 has been optioned and should start shooting this summer.
I struggle with marketing and need to improve my skills in this area. But I know it works! My MSC15 script got picked up through cold-calling a producer on LinkedIn.
I once competed in the World Memory Championships. Odd, I know.
