Posted by cheryl croasmun on April 2, 2024 at 8:16 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Hi, I’m Mark Roeder. I’ve written 7 feature length scripts. I hope to come out of this with the outline for a unique, low budget contained movie that is highly marketable that, with the right producer, funding and everything I can make into a movie.
I’ve made some short films, like Fire Ripples, about an escaped mental patient (me) who’s chased into a raging forest fire. Thanks.

Hello, everyone!
I am Tom Carroll. My 20+ year career was making video game art in two- and three-dimensions. Red Dead Redemption was the most recent – Game of the Year in 2010. I wrote a graphic novel, P.O.D.: The Nexus, published by Zondervan Press in 2010. Without training, I wrote two feature film scripts. They’re awful! Using tools from several S,U. classes I am currently writing a horror film and will construct an original contained screenplay from scratch. Oh … time is tight. I’m teaching four classes remotely for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Something strange? My self-anointed nickname is “Costmic.”

I am Alfred Dunham, M.A., [Ph.D.], D.D.S.
I have written one novel and eight screenplays: three were quarterfinalists, one was a semifinalist, one [WHY] was a Scriptapalooza Finalist, and one [ISABELLA] is currently out for judging.
I have been working, on and off, on a contained script. I got lost in it and need to re-group and start over or start a new one. I’m hoping this course will help with my “lostness.”
I was once Editor of Model Yachting, and in 2001 I was inducted into the American Model Yachting Association Hall of Fame.
My M.A. was in molecular biology, my Ph.D. was in molecular genetics. The brackets indicate that my doctoral committee didn’t like my dissertation, so I decided not to fight “city hall” – I became a dentist, instead. I predicted that there was only a 1% difference in the DNA of a human and a chimpanzee. It would take more than twenty years before The Human Genome Project proved I was right.
I was a dentist for 44 years, 28 years was in a psychiatric hospital/prison complex and 21 of those years was as President of the Medical Staff. My career ended with a stroke, so I’ve partially recovered and have written four screenplays, since. I’ve also had to live with Systemic Lupus erythematosus (1956) and Non-Hodgkins lymphoma (2016). I’m slow, but I get there. I’m 84.

Hi,
I am Alok Das. I am in my 50s, originally from India. More than 10 years back I attended the Prague Film School and made a short film that was part of the showcase for the graduating class. I had scripted, directed and produced the film. I have not written any other scripts after that.
I want to get back to writing scripts that are produceable on a tight budget and deadline, so thought working on a contained script will be the best way to start.
I have had a chequered carreer – mainly as an educationist and entrepreneur in the internet space and have been living in an European city for the last 2 decades working in the education sector. I got busy working on other skillsets that I wanted to build over these years, but had kept a tab on evolving technologies on the production and distribution of video content. Now I am an app developer and work with myriad technologies in the Web2/Web3 domain.
I hope that I will be able to devote the time and commitment to get the maximum out of this course.
Greetings to all the other participants. Great to know that the desire to learn never stops even for people who have so many finished projects under their belts. Looking forward to learning from all of you.
regards,
Alok
