Posted by cheryl croasmun on April 24, 2024 at 6:33 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!Harry Rankin replied 10 months, 3 weeks ago 10 Members · 20 Replies -

Hi, my name is Nick, and I’m excited to be taking the course. I write thrillers, and have completed four scripts. I write every day. An unusual thing about me is that I’ve practiced divorce law for over thirty-five years, so I’ve witnessed drama close-up. I look forward to learning how to improve my ability to be creative when I want, rather than when it comes. Looking forward to the class!

We have an active mystery writers group in our area.

Hello! I’m Deborah Johnson and I’ve written 10 scripts. I hope to learn some skills to elevate my writing and master some techniques to build and elevate my creativity. I have tried, and failed, to make the switch to black coffee. I really enjoy a little bit of half and half.

I’m Mary.
This is my third class with Hal. I always become a better writer after his classes.
I write sweet romance novels, not screenplays. I tried to write screenplays (2), but an evaluator advised me to switch to novels.
The reason I am taking this course is to become a better writer. I still dream of writing a screenplay.
I think the most unique fact about me is I am 75 years old, a retired high school administrator, and still dreaming about the future. I love learning. I average listening to about three classes a week. My goal is to produce a better novel with each new book. I’m also called the Sweetest Seminole in the South. -
Hi everyone,
My name’s Chris. I’m British, currently living in Venice CA. I’ve written 14 feature screenplays, mostly on spec and have sold and optioned a few of them including to Paramount and Warner Bros. I’ve written and directed for TV in the UK as well as writing radio drama for the BBC. I’ve enrolled in Hal’s class because I want to up my game and be inspired into new ways of thinking. Anything unusual about me? Hmm… not sure. I’ve just started playing guitar again after thirty years. -
Hi, Jan Fantl here, I currently live in Berlin and on Ibiza, right in the heart of Europe. I have a background in television episode writing and produced several successful TV shows. I have written a couple of scripts produced for tv, none for theatrical so far, I have experience in directing, which eventually led me to producing. I worked in LA for ten years as a film funds manager and producer, and after 52 theatrical movies and several decades in the industry, I am about to return forward to a new challenge to develop own “stuff”.
This is my third long class with Hal and I am excited to up my skills, fine tune and learn new techniques by joining this boot camp. Weird? I work every day on my ability not to judge in this judgmental industry and believe that the universe will deliver whatever if I only order clearly and precisely.-
Hi Jan,
I look forward to working with you over the next few weeks.
Chris-

Hi, I’m Yvonne. I’ve had a varied work past that includes; assembly line worker, a training specialist, a park guide giving tours and now as a Realtor. I’m also an artist and love painting people and animals. I’ve written two screenplays, one short and one full length. I’m currently on a third murder mystery and it looks like I’ll be doing my share of rewriting scenes with Hal’s guidance. Nice meeting all of you.

Hey, I’m LC, I’m a writer/producer. I have a very deep wheelhouse of scripts in various stages. I’m looking forward to this class, I had a script rewrite deadline, so I’m one week behind, but I’ll be catching up soon. Truly looking forward to working with all of you.

hey Lauren, I know this situation well, the so called real biz life has taken me a couple of times out of Hal’s schedules but I felt always even more motivated to catch up.
look forward working with you

My name is Harry Rankin. (For some reason I am registered by my given name, Anthony!)
I have written seven full scripts. Concepts for many more, and have one optioned.
I hope to re-work one of my earliest scripts in this class and bring it up to presentation standard.
I live on a boat on the river Thames in London. I’m hoping that it brings good omens as Simon Beaufoy did too, until he won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire…-
