Introduce Yourself To the Group
Posted by cheryl croasmun on March 1, 2021 at 5:15 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

Hi I am Matthew, I have one feature length action horror film that was made into a movie. I hope to improve my writing and make action scenes tighter using better language to help communicate scenes. Aside of filmmaking, I really like making music and DJing during quarantine. I look forward.

Hey, I am Roscoe Pond. I’ve written five westerns and three mystery thrillers. I always wanted to write an action movie screenplay because of the many ideas that come to mind. I feel like I’m the only writer who listens to old time radio classics. They have great writing. – RP

Hey… I’m Mike… I’m a beginner, and haven’t written a full script. I’m looking to devote a serious effort to develop my writing skills after dabbling in writing during a career in finance. Just left my job at the end of 2020, and excited to move from dabbling to serious…

Cheryl… need your help… have sent a couple requests to Support without response. My account shows that I’m not registered for the Action course (I have an email from you that I’ve paid). Also (maybe as a result), I can’t find the Group Confidentiality… appreciate your assistance…

Hi, I’m Cheryl. Nice to meet all of you. I’ve written several screenplays but have realized this past year that I needed to up my game and my skills if I ever want to sell one. So I’ve been taking a ton of classes. I’m hoping this class will not only help my action skills but also help me be a better narrative writer on the page. My new obsession is Korean dramas. Super fun and some great writing.

Howdy! Alan Peterson. I’m an old-timer in the biz. Mostly as a producer and director (small stuff-nothing you’ve heard of). I’ve written several screenplays. I’ve produced and directed one of them. I just had a film greenlit from a short story and now have to turn it into a screenplay quickly. Knew that I’d need some help and thought this would be a good way to force myself to get it done and would help me do a much better job. Unique thing about me; I’m probably the oldest one in the class (pushing 60) and I love tarantulas.

Hi everyone I am Brian. I am new to writing at this level, but have been writing for a long time. I have started writing 4 stories, but haven’t finished them yet. I hope this class inspires me to finish 1 or more of them. Many of my story ideas come from my wild and crazy dreams that I have out of the blue.

Hello! My name is Margaret Silebi. This will be my 4th script (I’ve written 4 but my first isn’t worth mentioning and two are in first draft stage.) I hope how to write an action screenplay. I plan to write this one in my MSC 15 class but haven’t written in the action genre before. Something unusual about me: I am a Director of Nursing in my other life.

Hi I’m Diana. I have written four screenplays so far and am looking forward to writing an action movie. I have two concepts in mind for this and am working on both of them (very different). This is my second career in life and I really love writing.

Hey, action writers —
My name is Lew Sherwood, and I am late to class! A non-COVID family health issue has delayed me and may in the weeks ahead. That said…
I have written one unsold feature but mostly short scripts, and six months ago a producer contacted me about expanding one of the shorts into a Faith Based Children’s Halloween feature called “Halloween Heroes,” about a rag tag group of kids who are magically imbued with the powers of their Halloween costumes to save their town from an evil villain. It’s going into production in late April starring Dean Caine.
I am in geezer territory, closer to 80 than 75(!), so never give up your dream to sell a script!
I have been in advertising for over 50 years, and did the advertising for Walt Disney Pictures, and many others. We did the one sheets for Rocky, All The Presidents Men, Superman (with Chris Reeve), Close Encounters of The Third Kind, and some of the Bond films. Ancient history! Many of my ad agency partners went into the film business, but I stayed in advertising.
But now, I am circling back into screenwriting full time , and I can tell you that this course from Cheryl and Hal is one of a kind. I have taken screenwriting courses from Robert McKee, John Truby, Save The Cat and others — but the way these two have built the model for Action Writing is pure genius!
Other classes tell you where to drive, but this course gives you a map to get there! They even put gas in your tank. I have never seen anything like it.
Get the T-shirt, “Keep on writin!’
(I hope to be here more often than not.)
Later, Lew…

I’m Alfred Dunham, also known as “Gene.” I’ve written. or am in the process of writing, 5 scripts, 3 have been entered into contests, one remains a draft, one is being written (not including this classwork). I’m in a rut with Drama scripts and wanted to try an Action script. I was a molecular biologist/teacher who became a dentist who also became President of the Medical Staff in a State of Iowa Mental Hospital/Prison facility for 28 years. Now retired, I continue to race RC yachts, was Editor of Model Yachting for 8 years, ets.

Hi, I’m Rebecca Glover. I’ve written two scripts. I hope to learn the information I need to keep me from wasting time by writing non-genre elements in my action script. I used to work in Antarctica.
