    Hi everyone,

I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.

To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.

    Tell us the following:

    1. Name?
    2. How many scripts you’ve written?
    3. What you hope to get out of the class?
    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

We look forward to working with you all!

Hi, my name is Mark and I am new script writing. I am only on my first script and have been taking classes from SCU for like almost a year it seems. I served our nation as a CIA analyst and operative, in addition to 26 years in the US Army Reserves. I have used this past year to develop a better book for story telling and to develop a script that would adapt to Thriller genre standards. So I am still on training wheels. I have a MS Degree in International Management so the business side of script writing is like developing a business operations plan to sell one’s script. It’s good to obtain the teaching points in this realm.

I have 4 written draft scripts, one of which made the quarter finals in the Page Awards. I have been in the process of rewriting that one off and on for years. In the meantime, writing others. I have one New York published nonfiction book. I am very hopeful that I can get my latest script marketed, and I am hoping this class will help me better understand how to do that effectively. Something strange…I am almost 80 years old and still working almost fulltime to support our son in medical school. He is graduating in May, and I hope to get back to working full time on writing!
Thanks to Hal and company for offering this class and all the wonderful advice they provide!!!

Hi, everyone. My name is Jack Young. I’ve written over 40 screenplays and have been writing for a while. I also have done film production (Indie) and wrote/produced a short film and two features (One a romcom and one a horror). I also have written a couple of books on writing screenplays and film production and operated my own film school (here in Omaha) for a couple of years teaching screenwriting and film production. Now I just write and am hoping to hone my skills a little better with this class.

Hi everyone, I’m Rick and live in sunny San Diego, with a historic cabin in the mountain town of Big Bear, outside L.A. By trade, I work in the human side of cybersecurity, but have extensive corporate/technical communications experience. I’m very proud of the 3 scripts I have finished, one of which has been recognized by the Sundance Institute/Sloan Foundation Commissioning Grant for Screenwriting. I hope to improve my ability to get my dang scripts out of my laptop and in front of some influential folks with well-crafted, riveting pitches. Something interesting about me is that I am neighbors with 2 fun guys who are successful rom-com screenwriters whose work has been made into some of the top box office draws for that genre. Really looking forward to learning with you fine folks!
