Hi everyone.
David Mailman
One completed first draft. Needs serious work. Eight in idea to basic plan stages.
The ability to write a script that pleases me: and, maybe, wins a few contests.
First, my age: 83. I was a professor of physiology for 41- years. I loved every minute of it. I retired 16-years ago. I’ve always considered movies the greatest art-form, so I started taking film-making courses. I wrote or directed half-a-dozen short films that were shone on local TV; only one of which was worth anything. I also made a feature length documentary DVD on nautical history. It sold six-copies, but I didn’t put much effort into marketing it. I also worked on a “real” film on the craft table, as a set dresser, face-in-the-crowd and general factotum. I call it “a real film” because it had a budget.
About three-years ago I started writing scripts. One problem with being an academic and scientist is that I deal in stories that are believable and sterile. Also, I deal in text, not subtext. This attitude makes writing commercial movie scripts very difficult.
-
First off, congrats on taking time to realize your dream of writing at any age. I like how you are honest about your ability as a writer and how science tents to make things sterile when it comes to creativity. I would highly suggest you take Hal’s class on the Profound screenplay. It really helps to create subtext.

Hi everyone,
My name is Erin Danly

Taking this class because I’m in the ProSeries course and the idea I’m working on in there is an action script, so I want to learn more about the genre

Hi Fellow Screenwriters!
I’m Denice. I’ve written over twelve scripts which include features, a TV pilot, and two locally filmed shorts. I want to write great action scripts because those are my favorites to watch. Especially if they have humor. I heard that onions are great for absorbing toxins, so I have one in each room of my house.
-
1.. Name? Matt Sharp
2. How many scripts you’ve written? I think 10
3. What you hope to get out of the class? More training on writing action movies

Hi Cheryl and to the group!
1. Name: Sung-Ju Suya Lee. But, call me Suya.
2. I’ve completed 2 feature film screenplays. A bunch of shorts. I would consider myself still an emerging writer.
3. I want to deep dive into screenwriting, and storytelling. I’ve read a ton of books. I’m writing an action/thriller (in ProSeries80), so taking this course. I like to write thrillers, horror, and stories about winning the lottery (or, rags to riches). A lot of my stories tend to be speculative/ supernatural/ paranormal.
4. I can cook a mean fish taco, avid walker (with dog), and scuba dived at night (scariest thing ever).

Hi, folks! Nice to see everybody! I look forward to getting to know you all over the next few weeks!
My name is George Krubski. I’ve written 8-10 scripts, ranging from “What was I thinking?” to “decent enough to win local contests.”
I love writing but found the events of 2020 somewhat paralyzing. Not only was the industry in shambles, but I found it hard to figure out what to write about when I had no idea what the world was going to look like. Now that things are getting back on track, I want to start writing again, so what I’m hoping to get out of the class is something structured to help me get my feet wet again.
Something unique or unusual… In addition to the scripts noted above, I was the head writer for a fan-created virtual series that extended the life of a prematurely cancelled TV show with 29 episode-length scripts. I wrote or co-wrote about a third of them, and closely reviewed and edited the remaining ones. It was quite a labor of love!
I’m a “structure geek” and love things like Save the Cat, Soth’s 8 minimovies, and Schecter’s My Story Can Beat Up Your Story. I’m trying to ingrain it all in my daughter at an early age. She’s twelve and will often lean over to be during a movie and say “We’re at mini-movie six. Here comes the nadir…”

Hello everyone. My name is Ira Drower.
I have written 4 scripts and several in progress. Most are comedy genre but my latest one is horror-thriller-science fiction genre.
I am hoping to learn how to add some sparkle to my action scenes.
Recently moved to Las Vegas from Chicago. In my best impersonation of a ‘Valley Girl’ voice,
“Oh my Gawd…moving is so hard.”
So much for the comedy, on with the action!
-
Hi, Emmanuel, years ago, I wrote a feature, two pilots, and a TV spec.
Look forward to learning more about creating high-concept action scripts.
-
1. Holly Heston
2. 1 1/2
3. It’s been long time since I’ve done any writing and I want to get my feet wet again. I’ve never tried to write an action script so I’m looking forward to the challenge.
4. I’ve been collecting those little colored clips on bread bags since I was 11. I have 1 1/2 large jars of them. They appealed when I was a child because they were colorful. Over the years, in case you’re interested, they’ve become less vibrant and tend toward white. (But I’m not going to stop.)

Hello, my name is David Gutosky.
I have 1 complete script and several in the works.
Knowledge, I am absorbing everything that I can.
In my previous job, I made a couple of custom guitars for legendary rocker Ted Nugent.
-
Hi, I’m Brad Hicks. I’ve written one script (now in re-write); a comedy. Next up is an action screenplay, so I’m taking this class to help me resolve some issues I’m having with that script. I was a TV news anchor and reporter for three decades, so in a way I’ve been a storyteller my entire adult life 🙂

I’ve written many scripts, finishing an action script so will work on it here
I’ve invented a shower caddy that holds a cell phone.

Hi, I’m Harry Rankin. Great to meet you all here!
I’ve written quite a few scripts and have one under option right now 😀. I’m a graduate of MSC14 amongst many other ScrU classes. All excellent.
I’m hoping to raise my ‘action’ game with this class. Many of my scripts fall into too many genre categories so bringing strategic focus is my aim here. However I don’y have a great high concept as yet so I may take my time posting here…
Something strange? I live on a boat on the Thames in London. Not so unusual though; following in the footsteps of Simon Beaufoy and Richard Branson! I hope I can live up to them!

Hi everyone
I am Paul Glynn and I have written four novels and trying to sell two of them. I hope to find out more of the creative process. I have recently earned a PhD from Oxford University. I am Dr. Glynn.
-
HI All, my name is Mark Dotz, I have written 5 unfinished scripts (Zombie, Vampire, Dragon Boat Comedy, Heart Warming Monster Movie, Travel Log Comedy) with two of those ready to to finalize. The other threeI want to revisit after a few more classes.
I want to learn action, and try to create a script that has non-stop movement, non-stop action as best that I can. I am more of a comedy fan but I feel creatively it is best to stretch as much as possible.
I am hoping to really grasp the idea of action as a pace in a script so that my other scripts can have more compelling action within their drama or comedy structures. We can’t all write “Atlanta Burns” and expect gone with the wind.
I own and travel in a skoolie, a refurbished school bus and plan to go full time traveling and writing with my three little kids and wife in about a. year or two.

Hello Everyone, I’m Patrick McCormick.
I’ve written a few scripts and have several High Concepts to create into features and binge worthy series.
My goal for this class is to develop my skill for integrating gripping action into my story lines as as a set of my natural talents, and to further my skills towards being an aspiring A-list writer.
My genres are supernatural, thriller and comedy. I always focuses on deeper purpose and meaning, which taps into the primordial essence of who we are, and then taking the audience on wonderful and exciting journeys which expand their awareness of life and evolves them towards their true potential.
