Introduce Yourself to the Group
Posted by cheryl croasmun on February 20, 2022 at 8:32 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Hi Everyone,
I am Sandra Nelles and I have written 4 scripts (3 features and 1 tv pilot). From this class, I hope to double the quality of my work by increasing my ability to re-think and re-create.

Hey there everyone,
My name is George Verongos I have written one spec script based on a book. I’ve written a few books and I work as a book editor. I hope to learn more about scriptwriting and open new doors for me to create more. I was a high school dropout that ended up teaching high school English for about ten years… the irony!

My Name is Gary. I’ve written and finished 5 scripts and have probably another 5 unfinished. I hope to double the quality of my writing and become much more creative and brainstorm more productively. There is nothing unique, special, strange or unusual about me…. No matter what the court appointed therapist says…Jk

My name is Jonathan Skurnik. I’ve written more than 5 scripts. I hope to find areas and skills where I can greatly improve my writing that had never occurred to me before.
I have been a documentary film director for 20+ years (6 films on PBS) and teach documentary at the UCLA and Chapman film schools at the undergrad and graduate levels. After making people think and cry for two decades, I want to spend the next two decades making people laugh with my situation comedy writing (not joke writing, per se).

My name is Kevin Allison, I have written several scripts and a few graphic novels. I hope to get rewrite skills from this course

<font face=”inherit”>I’m Steve John Bennett, I have 4 features completed, 16 awards from various comps and three Recommends. I want to do better – I want to be the best </font>I<font face=”inherit”> can be – I want to collaborate with the best – in a year I want to be at a totally different level to where I am now.</font>
Something unique, special, strange or unusual about me? Coming out of Waldorf education, I have an underlying conviction of a spiritual world around us, and I want to tap that, express that but without it being ‘in your face’ or ‘on the nose’. I’m an astrologer as well…

Call me KZ. I’ve written lots of plays and screenplays. One was a finalist in the Industry Insider screenplay contest, and a film adaptation of one of my plays won Best Comedy Short at Worldfest Houston. I would like to WIN a contest sometime, which may require doubling the quality of my writing. Also, to learn to brainstorm ways to make scenes more exciting, and how to be a better collaborator. I’m currently writing a script for a director who has given me notes of questionable value, and I’d like to know how to navigate that.
Something perverse about me… I know the words to most of the old songs, but it’s always the ones whose words I don’t know that I try to sing.
And… I accomplish great things, but always by procrastinating on something else.

Hi Creative Mastery Group.
I’ve written 6 screenplays.
What I hope to get out of this creative mastery class is to go from good writing to great writing. I realize just writing more scrips won’t improve my quality. I need the extra skill set this class will supply to elevate. Excited to improve.
I was an extra in some movies shot around the Cleveland area. Did you know the Russo Brothers filmed several Marvel movies in Cleveland? They are from here.

Hi everyone,
My name is Ed Preston, and after a meh career in high tech decided to re-invent myself as a screenwriter. Why? After years of watching movies and TV and saying “Who writes this crap? I could write better crap than that!”, a little voice said, “OK smart guy, then do it.” It didn’t take long to learn that even if you’re bursting with awesome story ideas, it means nothing unless you bother to learn the craft.
I have a handful of screenplays in various stages of completion, and the one I’ve put the most time in stalled (I “shut down” as Hal put it) after feedback following a contest where the reader said there were too many characters and problems with structure, but the end left her in tears (good, I liked that). Thought if I put it aside and went back to it after a while, I’d go back and the fix would be obvious. So far not yet.
Hoping this class will provides tools and insights I can use for traction.
Something unique, special, strange about me? I once met Johnny Crawford and was later facebook friends with him, and I own a Volvo 1800 much like the one seen in two Steven Spielberg movies: Jaws and Bridge of Spies. His is white, mine is blue.

Hi everyone,
My name is Amechi Ngwe. I’ve written… maybe around 30 scripts now. I’ve learned some of these skills before in other classes and am hoping to deepen my understanding and gain a bit more confidence with this class. Something unusual about me is I’ve been learning Spanish for the last two years but have no plans to travel there at the moment…

G.T. Peterson
Hi classmates,
I have written one script, FINGERPTINTS, a comedy. I also have two others in rough draft-LOVE BY SUBSTITUTION and STEALTH RECON that I thought were going to be docudramas. I might have to change the category soap operas because of all the crazy things we are experiencing in society.
I am excited about this class because I know I am going to come to a different level in my creativity. The times we are living in, as writers, is we can either affect society with our creativity or society will sway us. (select choice one)
What is strange about me is that, as a writer, is that I now know that my life is a collection of daily choices that determines who I am and what I become. What is even more strange is that I read this on the back of a magazine and I decided to follow it. Here we are, together, taking a class that has the same precept-developing a sense of high destiny.

Hi Everyone,
I’m Maureen from New York, and I’m excited to be joining you all in this class.
I’ve been taking and loving online classes here at Screenwriting U over the last couple of years.
I’ve written 13 screenplays and 1 script for a TV series. I have been away from writing for several years (too many!), but before that I had 3 scripts optioned and worked as a writer for hire on 6 screenplays and the TV script. That sounds like a lot, but it was over time, and all pretty low pay, and low to medium budget projects. One of the writer-for hire screenplays was produced.
Now that I’m writing again, I hope this class will help me elevate my craft.
Best wishes to everyone that we can all achieve that!
Maureen
