Posted by cheryl croasmun on May 31, 2022 at 10:18 pmHi everyone,
I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Hello! So glad to be here!
My name is Rachel Barrett. I’ve written about 7 scripts of varying length. When it comes to writing, though, I struggle with confidence & the ability to just…you know…WRITE the darn thing.
I’m excited to experience this class and work toward learning ways to write more efficiently, beat writer’s block (aka Fear Of Doing It Wrong, hence how long it took me to stop agonizing over this post), and complete drafts more quickly.
Something fun about me: I live on a farm and raise teeny tiny miniature goats. 🙂
Thanks for the chance to be here! I look forward to meeting you all!

I’ve written 2 market-ready scripts that I’ve been submitting over the years, and I just completed 3 other drafts in various stages of rewriting. I have two more script ideas that I’ve begun to outline. But I can’t decide which one to write next, so I took this class with the idea that it will force me to just write at least one of them. But since I haven’t decided which one, I’ll just start writing both of them. If I only finish one of them, I will still be way better off than I was before the class, just sitting in limbo undecided about which one I should start fleshing out. In the past I’ve stayed in that state with some ideas for years. I took this class as a part of an effort to change that.
Interesting thing about me: I just came from sitting in a movie theater for the first time since Covid. We’ve also adopted a Pomeranian this past August, and he just got Therapy dog certification a few weeks ago, so we are allowed to take him anywhere. So tonight was the first time in my life I watched a movie in a theater with a species other than a human. He’s so chill and he only weighs 10 pounds, and when he got off of my wife’s lap because he was hot and jumped to the empty seat next to him, and it folded up on him, he didn’t even flinch. He just sat there like he was in a taco. It was adorable. Wish I had taken pics, but you know the rule: no cell phones!

Hello All,
I’m Joe Zastawny
I’ve written 3 scripts
I want to be better disciplined in my writing with less judgment in the beginning/early stages of writing and gain more practical writer tools towards following drafts.
My two cats(just over 13 months) are my latest form of writers block. The cheeky bastards work in shifts to paw at the keys when I sit down to type! I promise to not let them infringe on my class work. Excited to be here…!
Cheers,

Hi Everyone,
I’m Tara Cowell-Plain. I’ve written 2 long and several short scripts. I struggle with confidence and procrastination. I get lots of good ideas but then get bogged down in the process. I have one I’m working on that is driving me batty with frustration. I decided to start with a fresh idea for this course, to keep it fun, with a searching eye back to the other. I’m hoping this course will give me some needed tools to work with.
I’m deeply envious of Rachel’s teeny tiny goat life, I foster rescue kitties when I can but am often on the road these days so unable to offer a furever home. In another dimension, I have a farm for injured critters of all shapes and sizes…
Excited to join!

I SO hear you on the procrastination challenges! Argh.
Kitties are the best! Mine identifies as a Tyrannosaurus Manx 🙂

Hello, my name is Cathy Alvarez and I’ve written 4 scripts. I hope to get some motivation and accountability out of this class. Something unique about me is I’m an introvert who works in extrovert positions. I’ve always held positions that put me on the spot or as the leader and educator which I find ironic.

Hi, there! My name is Will, and I’m a perfectionist…
I wasn’t always a perfectionist, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it harder and harder to sit down and write, and it was a complete mystery to me as to why. A couple years ago I figured it out, and I’m on a mission to reclaim the fearlessness with which I wrote a couple decades ago.
I’ve written about a dozen scripts, sold one, optioned two, but nothing produced. I was in the WGAw for a few years, but that was a long time ago.
I believe that when it comes to page one drafts, the key is quantity over quality. But putting that into practice? Not so easy for me. So that’s what this class is for.
I have a teeny, tiny dog named Jinx, who has the most probing gaze of any animal I’ve met.

Hello Cheryl, Hal and everyone, I am thrilled to be here with you!
I have only worked on this one screenplay. What I hope to accomplish is to complete this screenplay in 30 days! After engaging in the pre-course, there is much more clarity in the logline and the main character’s story arc. I am so grateful!
Something unique? In a million years, you could have never told me I would be a transformational dowser, helping people to empower their journey through restoring resonance to their heart, home, and habitat. (Yep-in the movie, there is a Dowser:)

Hi, everyone!
My name is Karen Burns. I have written zero scripts, although I have several in the works and pages of ideas. This class spoke to my need to finish one; please, may that open the floodgates! My inner procrastinator is bristling at my hope for accountability, process and discipline.
I started writing creatively around the time I learned how to put sentences together on paper. I became convinced that writing was not a practical way to make a living, so I embarked on what became a successful corporate career. After 30 years in that world (with no regrets, only gratitude), I am happily re-acquainting myself with my true passion.
I’m looking forward to this journey!

Hi, John Trimbach here, great to avail this motivational short course to get my outlines off the launching pad – a great repeatable roadmap following the pro and master series. Late to the show after sign-in issues but I’ll try to catch up. Cheers

Hey there – I’m Dave.
I’ve written four features, and written and produced about a dozen short films and web series. I’m hoping to get a more repeatable process for taking an idea from concept to polished draft. As it is I seem to reinvent my process with each script. I’m hoping this will improve the speed and quality of my writing.
I don’t know if it’s unique or strange or unusual, but I’m a sailor and I skipper for a sailing school on the west coast.
Late to the class, so I’ll be behind you guys …
