Hi. I am Mike Jablonski (60). I have written two partial scripts. I hope to learn to conceive, write and sculpt sellable scripts.

I am Susan Kray, 80 years old, educated in California, living in the Midwest, retired two years from academe, working on a research project about audience creativity and fandom.

I’ve written several scripts, including a totally non-horrific one about a werewolf. I am not familiar with horror but I hope to develop the specific skills for a script I want to write.

I’m working 12 hrs/day plus 3 hrs commute every day. I’m hoping I won’t turn in my assignments late. What if I do turn in my assignment(s) late?

Hello, Anna Harper here. Currently local to British Columbia Canada, returning to the UK soon ish. I have completed 2 scripts and am working on a 3rd in ProSeries and this one in Horror and have two of my books to convert to screenplays. What I will get out of this class is a quality experience, and creating a highly marketable horror script.

I am just generally a tad weird. Best of luck going forward to everyone in the group.

Greetings. I’m Scott, just turned 45 last week. I’ve written one feature script and one tv pilot, both dramas. I’ve also made a pair of documentary short films and wrote original comedy scripts for a theater company in San Diego 15+ years ago. Now I’m a professor living in the Midwest writing a book on Spanish horror film. While this class overlaps with my academic work, I’m taking it to return to screenwriting after a 7 year break (and having 2 kids, aged 6 and 3) with a vision to leaving academia in the near future. Looking forward to working with you all and I’ll do my best to keep up with the assignments!

    Hi everyone,

My name is Ted Tronsen and I’m 52 years young. I’ve written 2 screenplays so far and am working on my 3rd. What I hope to get out of this class is the knowledge to complete the horror script I’m working on now. I am currently living in Vermont on Misty Mountain Farm and working at a Therapeutic Community Residence called Inner Fire. I look forward to getting to know everyone and writing with you!

Hi Everybody, I’m Quinn. I’d also like to introduce Tara who’ll be joining me. I’ve written four feature scripts, one of which I just sold. As well as two short films. I’m trying to learn how to do the horror thing as Tara and I are writing one right now. We’re really looking forward to this class. Unique? I guess it would be my Unicycle abilities, Lol. Random, I know.

Hi everyone, I’m Francesca Romana – as my name says… yes, I’m Roman, I live in Italy. I’m a screenwriter, I’ve sold several projects, spec or commissioned.

Now I’d like to begin to write in English, using different structures. Not European.
That’s why I’m here. Sorry for my delay, but I’m writing an animation tv series and so – when I’m out of the writing room – I have to manage the time between studying&family!!

Hi Everyone. I’m Jamie (she/her) Stegner. I’ve written 2 contemporary feature dramas, a horror feature, and a pilot for 12 episode TV series. None are quite ready for market. I look forward to this class to sharpen my horror skills and start a new script.

Looking forward to engaging with all of you.

Hi Jerry. Please send me a friend request on FB. There are lots of ppl with your name- couldn’t find you. Do I know you from prior SU classes? I’ve taken PS and MSC and BW.

What are your Features about? I wrote two dramas: 1. a guy accidentally kills his wife and succeeds in the cover-up; the cop knows but can’t prove it. 2. abused wife of a corrupt sheriff is kidnapped but he won’t rescue her, she joins them in bringing him down. I need help with realistic police procedures. I’m also working on a medieval epic, BW, about 12 episodes.

I wrote the horror feature cuz I’ve heard that a very low-budget horror can be a way to get ‘in’. I have no credibility in filmmaking. Retired from healthcare. I’ve crewed on a few local productions though and love making movies.

        Hi Jamie,

Nice to meet you but I’m not on FB so sorry can’t. This is my first time at SU since I was attracted by the specific idea of horror. Like yourself I think it may be an “in” if pitched right.

The only feature I’ve still got is a pot boiler about a maverick FBI agent. Write what you know they say – what on earth was I thinking about. The other I was thinking about was actually a longish pilot which was a not very scary comedy/drama with monsters.

I’ve been doing stage plays recently since they seem easier to get people to read. They’re also quite enjoyable since you confined to only a few scenery changes and everything is a wide-shot.

        Anyway nice to meet you.

Hello all! My name is Rich Hynes.

I’ve written several feature scripts and TV pilots (most of which will never see the light of day,) a book and a novella. I just recently optioned my rom-com feature “Super Pregnant” so I’m excited to see where that goes.

While I’m familiar with writing scripts in general, the horror genre is new to me. I’d like to learn all the tropes, nuances, tips and tricks that are unique to it in order to make sure I’m writing the best horror script I can and not just a “good script”.

As for something about me? Before I moved to L.A. I was a volunteer first responder for the better part of 10 years. It really broadened my perspective on life and helped me grow as a person.

See you all in class! (Sorta!)

<div>Hello everyone, its a pleasure to be part of the class. I’m an aspiring writer, hoping to join the WGA one day. I’m currently in the Producers Guild of America. and hoping to produce one of my own works sometime soon or pitch and sell it. I am an advocate for women in minorities in prominent and positive roles. Especially for Latinos.
    </div><div>

    1. Name?

    People call me Joey.

    2. How many scripts you’ve written?

I’ve written about 12 scripts, in different genres and haven’t pitched any yet. All my scripts are female lead, minority driven.

    3. What you hope to get out of the class?

I hope to produce a horror script I’ve written, and network with other minorities and women writers who would want to package your script, and pitch it around together as a team that wants to get something produced. I hope to produce an all Latin cast movie or tv show, in the English language for world wide distribution, with a strong global appeal.

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?

I believe in the future of humanity, love people and animals, and I like to think I’m a nice guy. I love sci fi. I’m actually going to be cryonically frozen when I die by a organization named Alcor. I hope to see the far future one day, and see if we have explored and colonized space.

Hi Joey. I followed you on LI. Your profile is impressive.

Did you find the LI Certifications worthwhile? I am also interested in producing. I’ve crewed on a few local productions and love all aspects of filmmaking.

Hi, my name is Liz. I’ve written two horror scripts in the past three years based on a couple of my unfinished novels. They’ve won top honors in several notable screenwriting contests, but haven’t sold. I hope this class teaches me things about horror writing that I don’t know, and it improves my writing enough to sell scripts.

I am a normal person who cares about people, animals, and the earth… and I do want world peace.

    Take care,

    Liz

Hi everyone! I’m Allie and, like Quinn, I’m also co-writing in this one with my Husband, Adrian! I didn’t have access to the class until today, but we’ve been trying to keep up with the email lessons and assignments-apologies we all haven’t “met” yet!

We are both Actors who have learned to create our own content so we may have a voice in our art. I’ve written 2 features, (one biopic/drama and one horror), as well as a thriller short film. I’ve created a 10 EP web series (Moms Anonymous-a mockumentary comedy) and have produced 4 other features, one drama, two horror and one documentary about horror (Hearts of Darkness: The Final Friday).

Although I’ve been fairly entrenched in the horror world for the better part of a decade, I hope to hone my storytelling skills in the genre to elevate the content I want to create. It is one thing to throw together a creature movie with a super low budget and hope to make some money (Guilty 🙋‍♀️-in my youth and inexperience, no judgment! 😱) but to truly create the smart horror we all really love to watch-that’s a whole superpower!

In addition to creating content together, my Husband and I are also opening an Acting Studio in Orange County. We are super excited to launch this part of our journey!
