Hi. I’m Carol Dougherty, I’ve written one documentary film script. I hope to end up with both a script and a good understanding of how to write one efficiently yet with depth and quality. Something unusual: A few years ago (before the pandemic) I started walking the Camino de Santiago and ended up in Ireland.

Hello everyone! My name is Robin. I’ve written one script and with this class it will be two! I hope to learn how to write entertaining stories that have characters that truly connect with the audience through character depth and journey. Perhaps it is unique that I have been a nonprofit CEO for 23 years and in the nonprofit sector for 35 years. I’m ready for the next trek. I’m excited to be part of this group and thrilled to be taking this course!

Hi. My name is Angelina. I’ve written 0 movie scripts so far, however I have already three registered synopsis on my desk. By the end of the class I look forward to completing one of them at the best possible quality, i.e. writing my first full script. Thus I look forward to learn technique of script writing to be able to write quicker by having a full understanding of the process. I worked many years in physics, so I have good skills of scientific writing. Also my scientific background gave a concept to this script idea, which I am going to work on during the class.

Hello All! My name is Laura. I’ve started 5 scripts and have yet to bring any to even a rough hint of completion. My problem is that I get caught up in that next great idea! I hope this class will give me the tools to stay focused from beginning to end. I’m anticipating a struggle, but I’m game! Something about myself? I’m also working on a Steampunk novel. (Surprise! It’s not finished either. Ha!)

My name is George Petersen and I’ve written about 5 scripts.

I hope to get into the 30 day writing process and away from my usual 30 week writing process.

Something unique about me: Well, when I handed in my thesis script for my masters, the panel of professors were horrified. Could they really deny me my degree on the basis of a bad script? Their solution: I would write my thesis on how NOT to write a screenplay with my script as the sample. True story.

    Hi, I’m Patricia Brown, Esq.

What I hope to get out of this class: to finish draft one of my romantic comedy on my way to 8-10 rewrites to sell my final draft that is made into a movie or streaming series. Unique? I went around the world on the Concorde in 31 hours–while pregnant; was one of the first women in CA licensed to drive a fire engine; was twice-blessed by the Dalai Lama; stood on Machu Picchu & the Acropolis. Getting ready to retire as a divorce attorney of 30 years to create the third act of my life writing profound screenplays made into movies. Please to meet you all.

Howdy from Colorado! My name is Tammila and I have completed a Family Feature, a pilot for a sci-fi series (including the Series Bible), and a spec script for the Apple+ tv series “Dickinson”. I am a history geek as my subjects reflect it. BUT, I am molasses slow so here I am. Hoping to speed things up!

    2. I’ve written 4 scripts.

    3. I hope to get the ability to right complete scripts in a methodological and fast way.

    4. I don’t think I’m exceptional. On the contrary I hope I’m just a regular woman doing a wonderful job.

Hey, everybody. I’m Michele, but I use M.M. as a nom de plume. I’ve written numerous screenplays and a mini-series teleplay – many optioned but only one produced. I’m in this class to write a script that I’ll convert into a sequel to one of my novels. It will be my 22nd published book. Look forward to working with everyone.

My name is Julie. I haven’t written any scripts. I have written one novel and have another in progress. I’ve taken Hal’s classes before and find them very helpful. I’m looking forward to writing a screenplay and think it will help me with my book, the character’s journey, and the plot turning points. I live in Lake Arrowhead, CA, a small mountain town where it feels like everybody knows everybody, especially if you’ve lived here as long as I have. We currently have a mountain lion frequenting our neighborhood.

Hello, All. My name is Gerry Cousins.

I’ve written many, many scripts–I had my own acting school, IN THE MOMENT, where I taught on-camera audition technique to trained actors. (Studio City, CA) I often wrote original scenes specific to the needs of the student. The technique I taught has been captured in my book, Gerry Cousins’ IN THE MOMENT, and can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

With permission I brought a straight two-act play to the group. I wrote it quite a while ago, and while most all the comments were good, they were not good enough. I would love to see MARFA LIGHTS produced and thought this class might offer a different approach to this new version of the play.

ON THE ROOF, a one-act play, has enjoyed three productions in NYC and one in Los Angeles. Some years ago I was a facilitator for a Women In Film writers’ group which was run out of my actors’ studio.

I live in a retirement community, where I lead a a small acting group and just directed An Evening of Comedy Scenes. I am a very young eighty years old.

Good luck to all of us!
