Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

I’m Tyler,
I’ve written a couple of scripts sold one but nothing ($$$) to launch a career. I am a book author/podcaster/radio sometimes. If I can option this screenplay. I will keep a promise and get a film debut with a famous theatre. Not, is no option! Get out of the class? Shape/polish my script for best chance at competitive market.
I am a survivor of TBI. Creativity is not my problem nor “writer’s block” but sorting or editing my scripts is not possible so far. I’ve taken script classes and my eyes glaze over. My left brain can’t see it. I had a mentor producer friend I drove him nuts!

Richard here.
Only one script-which I originally wrote 30 years ago, and rewrote 3 years ago, fortunately getting several accolades from screenwriting competitions.
I hope to make the script even better from this course, and get past the laurels, to the production phase.
I’m 70. Not looking to be rich or famous, but to allow this one semi-autobiographical story the chance to serve the greatest number of people. I can see the goal line at this point, and want to try to fulfill my final creative potential.

This story started as a simple logline and developed in last winter/spring’s ProSeries78 class.
“Single mother/rooky crime reporter must manipulate her ex-husband/Sheriff who may be killing off his kidnapping suspects and her new billionaire boyfriend may be the serial killer just as her daughter disappears.”
Several SU courses added some polish. This course will be the final touch.
I have written several screenplays, biographies, magazine articles. One screenplay was turned into a novel and got published. One real estate book hit #10 on Amazon.

Hello from Bainbridge Island, WA! I just started a new job and it’s been a long day, so I’m going to keep this short:
1. Name? Jackie
2. How many scripts you’ve written? I just finished my first pilot for a limited series (eight, 1-hr episodes.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? I want to get better at structure and hope I can strengthen this pilot draft.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I once met with a man who wants to take down the north Korean regime and is now on the FBI’s most wanted list. More when I share my script…
I look forward to meeting everyone!

1. Name? Ed – short and sweet
2. How many scripts you’ve written? I am on my 7th screenplay.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? My current project is an adaptation of someone else’s work ( a web series) It’s kicking my ass. Adaptation is not easy, at least not for me. With this structured format, I’ll complete the adaptation and give it the credit it deserves.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I’ve met two US Presidents, through circumstance, not influence, lol.

I’m seventy three years old, retired US Army and worked several civilian jobs. Before calling it quits in 2010. I live in San Antonio, Texas and originally from WisCOLDsin.
I wrote and self published a novel back in 2006. Ten years later I decided to try to make it into a script. I have entered many contest ,LA, international, Santa Barbara, and Wiki to name a few. I received many laurels and been a finalist in Wiki twice.
I’ve decided there has to be something missing from my script and so when this class came to my attention I entered.
I’m not looking for a career at my age. I just would like this script to be the best it can be. I have worked on a sequel to the script, but stop to focus on this one.

1. Name? Christiane
2. How many scripts you’ve written? It’s my second one.
3. What you hope to get out of the class? After many versions of this script, I’m looking forward to a rewrite guide hoping to get the best version possible to the producer.
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? Well, I am a French writer and I write in french.

Haven’t finished a script yet, still working on one. Have many story ideas. Could be in the wrong class yet liked the presentation so much and here I am.
Hope to contribute and receive and exchanges with others. I don’t like writing alone. Love the back and forth of flowing ideas. Inspiration comes and it goes so when it’s there it’s heaven.
Favorites are action/thriller but also love drama and comedy and faith based flicks too.

Brian. I think you are in an excellent class to start. This will give you a lot of tools. Then when you trouble shoot later you will find this school has lots of courses on specific topics of which I plan to revisit once this course is over. Try to get in on the free Friday courses.

Thanks Michael, I’ll stick with it and we’ll see how turns out. My first class and with a screenwriter forum. Perhaps you’d like to partner up. If so let me know. Like I said I have ideas that I’m trying to put into screenplay format. And I have several and the one I’m using for the class I believe is high concept.
Your logline has alot going on. Mystery and intrigued and commercial appeal. That’s important cause in the end we must attract interest from buyers.
-
Yes Brian, I will partner help you in any way I can!

Just thinking that coming with a fresh concept not so developed is actually a great way to start this class. This is some serious structure!!

Hello writers and fellow U’s
My name is Ann Marie Brennan. I’m writing this in Dublin, Ireland. I always find it tricky to label myself, but if pushed, I’d call myself a director/writer.
I’ve directed 2 short films, (I wrote one of them) and a feature drama/documentary, which I also wrote, all of which were aired on Irish TV . (I’ve an imdb profile)
I took a masters degree in Screenwriting in Ireland’s Film school quite a few years ago. I’ve been on/off writing and am only coming back to it now after a break of about 5 years.
Something about me….I had a piece of footage in Ridley Scott produced ‘Life in a Day 2020’ which is on Youtube, where you can see me in the kitchen of my family home (it’s the funeral wake of my uncle) and I just discovered Ridley Scott has made ‘Napoleon’, which is apparently a masterpiece – and I’ve had a script I wrote about Napoleon in my bottom drawer for over 10 years now. Ouch. But what can ya do….
I used to also be a stand up comedian, so I’m quite keen on comedy and have a good ‘nose’ for it…ahem (no its not red)
What I am hoping to get and am getting already from Hal & Cheryl’s classes is: the discipline to get back writing, great tips and methods to sharpen my skills, make my storytelling a lot better and my scripts saleable.

Hello, I’m Antoinette Mitchell from Cambridge, England.
I write short stories, some published. In my working life I wrote training scripts. This is my first full length.
I know my script is missing something- that’s what I’m hoping to find in this class.
I like to do things I’ve never done before so I meet new people and learn new things. Before the lockdown here I finished an MA in History of Art and this year it’s lifting weights. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and learning to write a great script!

I’ve written around 15 scripts between features and TV.
I hope to learn a process that will allow me to stop just editing my early drafts and start changing major and minor parts of what’s beneath the surface.
I am autistic.

Hi, I’m Wynona. I’ve written five or so feature scripts, and hope to use this class structure to elevate my current project. Something unusual about me? I have ten kids, with only the youngest still at home—so it’s time to change writing from a hobby to a second career!

Hello group (only 15 as of Dec 8th). My name is Frank Racicot. Northern Ontario. Sorry I’m late. Sorry, I’m sorry. (I’m Canadian). I have made about 15-20 small short films (with or without scripts) and won two small Community Pulse Awards at Sudbury’s Cinefest. I hope to follow Hal’s excellent suggestions and elevate the next draft of my first full length script and get it optioned and produced. If not-I will somehow figure out a way to direct and produce it myself. Nothing really unique about me. We all think we are different or unique- but if everyone thinks they are different then we are actually all the same. Although I am a geologist and prospector with 40 years experience who will ‘give up’ prospecting and bush work- in order to do what I love. Writing and making films. Although I love working in the bush. Just ask all the black flies, mosquitoes and bears.

Hi, how do I post the assignments and where? I have the logline and soon the one pager but where do I click on to post? Thanks, Brian.
-
Hi I’m Mark- I’m an author and have done a screenplay assignment. This is the 4th script I’ve finished recently. I hope to sharpen my rewriting skills to be able to complete more scripts. I’m a renaissance man that is now devoting myself to screenwriting and I look forward to working with you guys!

Hey Frank! I am a fellow Canadian! Halifax for me. I think this is a great process. I’ve taken classes before and I ended up with the anatomy of a script for a wall poster. I’m a lawyer that’s like being in the bush. Cheers,

Hi, Fellow Scribblers. I’m David Shoenfeld. I’ve written 12+ scripts, and have 2 with Feedback Notes that are primed for a Professional Rewrite! Both were noted as strong concepts that needed elevating in several dimensions, so this calss came along at a perfect time.I got hooked on screenwriting 20+ years ago when, as CMO of FedEx Express, I read the Cast Away script for Brand Approval – after dinner w/ the film’s Director, Writer and Exec Producer. I moved from Memphis to a neighborhood of Industry Folks in Santa Monica, but 7 years later, moved to a small NC town (kind of a reverse Beverly Hillbillies move – we bought the old Clampett Estate and put in a cement pond). It’s a great place to write, and I kept my 310 area code cell phone.
-
I’m here to deepen my skills.
Anytime I think I’ve got it down and know everything that I need to know about screenwriting I have a meeting, decide to write in a different genre, have another idea, and boom – I’m humbled and discovering new screenwriting techniques again.
I’m currently learning to trust others for feedback and to become a speedy writer.
I grew up in Australia and moved to California 23 years ago. Haven’t been back to Aust for even a visit. I wont leave California until I “make it”.
