    1. Hi! I’m Anne Grant, and I am trying to impress you with my wrinkles and gray hair.

    2. I’ve written three produced stage plays (which you have never heard about) and at least five screenplays (likewise). But one of them was produced 45 years ago for the nation’s Bicentennial and won three Emmys. Then I left the industry to get ordained.

    3. & 4. I have been writing a memoir and taking classes with Hal and Cheryl for more than 14 years. This is the class that will finally bring it all together for a true story of completely unexpected changes over a 57-year (and counting) marriage.

I’m happy you’re here and have one request: Please never call me a lady. It would totally crush me. 😖 Thanks!

    Howdy Ya’ll.

    I’m Dave Thompson.

I’ve written 6 screenplays, a fantasy novel series, and a bunch of “self-help” books.

I hope to somehow turn my fantasy novel into a TV series.

As a photographer, in 1990, I assisted the R&D guys at Kodak with their new 35mm film scanner, plus beta tested a LOT of digital prototypes in 1990 & 1991.

    Hello everyone,

My name is David Wickenden. I am a Canadian author and have published six novels. Five thrillers and one YA Fantasy. I have adapted five of my stories into feature scripts. I do have a series that I feel might be suited to a binge worthy TV series; at least my readers tell me that. I am a lifelong learner and can’t wait to dive into this process.

I am a former professional firefighter and retired as Deputy Fire Chief after 31 years on the job. I used to save people in my past profession. Now, as an author, I kill them. LOL.

Look forward to working with you all.

Hi my name is Walter Stewart. Retired AF and disabled veteran.

I hope to be considered a professional one day once I publish my first book this year.

I have one completed feature screenplay and an animation dialog ready for story boarding. I hope this course will facilitate my decision to pivot from the feature into a TV series.

    Hello lovely people,

    1. My name is Lina Iorgovan and a friend of mine and producer recommend me this class to me as I want to make one of my dreams reality and create a crime drama (police) screenplay and help people through it. I am obsessed with everything that is NCIS, CSI, Chicago Police, Chicago Fire, Chicago Police, SVU and one of my biggest dreams is to write a screenplay that inspires, heals, brings justice and light to things never seen or talked before.

    2. This will be my first script and I am eager to learn everything about it.

    3. I hope to get clarity and ease on how to do the screenplay and talk with potential producers and why not meet new people along the way.

    4. Something unique about me is that I speak 5 languages and my other job is psychic medium / massage therapist and this year I am moving to Arizona to have my advanced degree in massage therapy. At the moment I am living in Paris, France and I am from Romania. Ok those were more than 1 thing 😁

    I am Moses Quainoo.

I have a handful of uncompleted scripts namely 1. OLD TOMS, 2. THE DO WELLS, 3. JOYSTICK ROV and more.

Each is a complete serial TV show with the same lead Character and a continuation memoir spanning 45 years.

I want to compile my works under one Binge-Worthy serial TV show titled BY THE EVENING FIRE.

I joined the Scribophile writing community and often post one or two chapters of my work.

Hope I can accomplish my ambition here.

    Hi All:

My name is Sydney, you can call me Syd. I am an NYCbased writer / director, working mostly in theatre. I’ve produced a couple of award-winning short, including a Cannes first place. Formerly worked in finance and as a journalist / newspaper managing editor.

I’ve written three feature scripts, have three more WIPs and a project that comprises a series of shorts. (I have many more in my head just waiting to get on paper.)

This is not my first Hal class — all of which have helped me grow as a writer. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. I have a feature currently that’s serving as my jump off for this. (Also, have another serial idea I’ve started — we’ll see which one gets to go first).

Something unique about me is that I share a Myers-Briggs personality type that is often used to writer villains — think, Saruman, Professor Moriarty, Little Finger, Hannibal Lector. But don’t worry, it’s also used to create heroes, like Walter White and Wednesday Adams — oh, wait…

    Hello – hello… Name’s Mike.

I’m really glad to be a part of this class. Reading over all your bios and accomplishments makes me realize just how much talent there is in the world. Like air, it’s all around you, invisible and taken for granted until you slow your roll and breathe with meaning.

Having worked twenty years in the corporate world as a Marketing Director and CFO, I moonlighted as an artist: writing, reading and taking classes at night. It was a bipolar existence. Three piece suit and tie by day, jeans, tank-top and sandals after hours. Different friends, different parts of town.

I have written five TV pilots, (coming-of-age dramas, para-psychological, supernatural) ten feature length films. At the moment, I have a Christmas script and a television pilot with a talent agency.

I went through Hal’s master course last year, and it was incredible the amount of information, insights and experience he brought to the class.

If I can offer one piece of advice, it would be do NOT fall behind. Work through each exercise and even if you can’t give it your all on a given day, don’t shine it on.

    Wishing everyone the very best.
To quote Hemingway, “There’s nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein.” 🙂

    Tell us the following:

    1. Tully Archer

    2. Four features, three or four shorts.

    3. A pilot and bible I can go out confidently with.

    4. I’m gonna be behind on this class for a little while, and then I’ll catch up. I’m swamped at the moment but didn’t want to miss out! ☺

    Hello everyone.

My name is Bent Hanlen. I’ve written three pilots. Two of my own concept. 4 features which I continue to tweak as I learn new things from this wonderful art.

My favorite genre to write is comedy.

    Hi fellow screenwriters,

I’m Wayne Petitto. I’ve refined 3 scripts to marketable completion.

I need this class to properly develop a concept that I was writing a feature upon, only to find it kept expanding in length and breadth. Thus it better fit a Binge-worthy TV Series with longevity.

I’ve traveled the world operating USAF airlift operations in the most austere places on earth. In civilian life, my wife and I’ve built 3 Taekwondo schools, an 18,200 square foot shopping center, and eventually filled it with a Family Entertainment Center.

    Hi, call me KZ.

I write plays and screenplays, and I even recently tried my hand at a Fiction Podcast.

I submitted a 10-year old script to the 2023 Atlanta Film Festival and it made it to the quarter finals.

For this class, I’ll be taking an idea I had for a screenplay and converting it into a TV show.

Unusual thing? I attended a High School for Performing and Visual Arts… but I majored in visual art. It wasn’t until after graduation that I started writing plays.
