I’m glad you’ve joined us for the class.
To start the class out, please introduce yourself below. That will give you a chance to be part of this group and learn how the forums work.
Tell us the following:
1. Name?
2. How many scripts you’ve written?
3. What you hope to get out of the class?
4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you?
We look forward to working with you all!

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer O’Brien and I am delighted to be returning here to ScreenwritingU for this class. To date, I’ve written 4 screenplays. My hope is to gain more writing skills and improve dialogue in one script I have that I know could benefit from further elevation and improvement. I am a Canadian and living in the Tampa Bay area. My favorite animals are giraffes and cry whenever I see them in person … the only animal that makes me do this, who knows why? I just love them so much. 🙂

Hi all. I’m Kirk Landers and I also write as Renee James. I’ve written drafts of a couple of screenplays (that producers have found utterly resistible) and a script for a training film. I’m looking forward to learning a lot about structuring a story and creating scenes with less dialogue, among many other things. I’m one of those really strange trans people who live (and write novels and scripts) in both genders.

Hi Everyone, I’m Laurie Stoner and delighted to be back. I’ve been writing screenplays for 20 years years, have taken most class offerings, written 20+ scripts, and produced and directed numerous shorts. I moderated a screenwriting group in Sarasota, FL for many years and loved the collaboration. During the pandemic I took the contained screenwriting class and switched to writing plays which opened up a whole new world. I’m adapting a recent play into a screenplay and hope this class will give me the tools to do that well. I recently moved to Atlanta to be close to family and gave up my 300 orchid plants. Unlike Magic Mike, I’m back and I don’t plan on this being my last dance.

Hello – Mark Furney here.
I’ve taken 6 or 7 ScreenwritingU classes. Keep coming back, so that tells us something.
I have a dialog heavy script. I want to see if I can elevate that dialog with the lessons from this class.
I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

Hi everyone.
I’m Lynn Heggen.
I’ve written one screenplay and am currently working on two more. I have taken classes from Hal before and they are always educational and helpful.
I am looking forward to adding some complexity to my screenplays.
Something unique about me is that I am obsessed with golf. Love it.

Hi Everyone! G’day from down under. Yes, I’ll be completely time-zoned out and never on time with any assignments. Perhaps that’s not unique, but it’s special 🙂 The name’s Andrew Matthews, but not the famous one [if there is a famous one]. I’ve written a few scripts and focused on a couple of true stories over the past 4 years, so hoping to refine, polish and elevate these two stories. Have a great day/night everyone 🙂

Hello, My name is Bill Southwell
I have written one script (probably not too good)
one weakness is dialogue. I hope to learn how write good dialogue for all characters.
I am 85 and have recently “retired to half time work load” so I can study screen writing. I see you are all experienced. I will learn form this class and perhaps from all of you as well.

Hi, My name is Ataur Bacchus from Toronto, Canada. Over the last two years, I have been entering short stories and short scripts in contests that give collated feedback from 3 or 4 readers – what they like, and things to work on. Through the lessons in this course, I hope to nudge the quality of my writing ever upwards, increment by increment.

Hi everyone, I’m Shelley Darling, and I presently live in Maine. I’m currently writing one script. The pitch deck and treatment are completed, and I’m now working on the dialogue. This course comes at the perfect time to significantly improve my writing. My passion and profession are supporting people in living their dream by aligning their hearts, home, and habitat through the process of “Evolutionary Dowsing.”

Hey, y’all, my name is Hilton. I live in Atlanta. I’ve written four scripts, executive-produced two movies, and have two children in the film business, one in front of the camera, one behind. I’m currently polishing the last script I wrote (in the WIM class last year) and I believe this class — if it’s what I believe it to be — will greatly assist in that process. I’m looking forward to learning.

Hi, I’m Patty Wilson. I live in Florida, love to golf, though I have switched to writing so my time is limited. I work full time, mostly from home. I’ve written three features and two pilots. I hope to elevate my writing and Hal and Cheryl’s courses are the way to go. I’ve been a long time student of ScreenwritingU.

Hey Mary, I saw in your introduction to the course that you live in Atlanta, as do I. Depending on where in Atlanta, if it’s convenient geographically, maybe we could meet for coffee or something one day and have a chance to talk. Since your cogent critique of my scene it occurred to me that we could possibly contribute to each other’s work. Let me know if you’re interested in meeting or talking further.
Hilton
