    Tim Barley’s “Decendence”

    Streaming Platforms

    GENRE: Sci-fi/fantasy thriller,

    TITLE: “Decedence”

CONCEPT: “Descendence” follows Alex Powers, a descendant of 1000s of generations of ancient magic and super-science practitioners, as he enters and navigates the dangerous, unseen world of rival factions vying for the ultimate power inside Alex, while he struggles to harness his growing inherited abilities and uncovering the truth about his lineage.

    TARGETING:

Managers first – because it’s a great first step to help me manage next steps and would know more about who needs what

“What I learned today” was that it was hard to get back into the routine of thinking about all of this project. But, once I switched hats to a more business feel and looked at my project from the outside, I could create better marketing materials.

    Genre: Historical fantasy adventure drama

    Title: No Angels Need Apply

    Concept:

How does an Oversoul who’s lived 120 human lives break the human reincarnational cycle to achieve its dearest wish of becoming an angel?

Learning it must review and purge regrets of 5 key past lives, is the first challenge.

Knowing it must erase knowledge of each previous lifetime in order to fully experience each new life is the second challenge.

Adding to its building frustration, each new lifetime creates new regrets.

And just when it thinks it may have nailed that problem, it learns it must also collaborate with its possible final life as an opinionated female writer who must capture the whole story before she dies with unresolvable regret.

What’s an equally opinionated Oversoul to do?

Note: Each life review takes an entire season.

What’s most attractive about my story is that it’s a dynamic adventure story that features diverse characters set in multiple time periods framed in a philosophy similar to “Everything Everywhere All At Once” – that no lives are wasted, and that we are multi-dimensional beings.

I would target producers first, because I believe they’re more likely to be actively looking for longer versions of something reminiscent of “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. It’s not as good as a fit for an actors production company, as the characters change from season to season. I’m open to targeting managers as I do have other work which represents my style, but my intuition says to target producers first.

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Avi Kapurala’s Project and Market

    GENRE: Thriller

    TITLE: Killer

CONCEPT: Venture capital tycoon Viktor Brazhinsky and his wife Maya plot the downfall of a rival who plans to expose Viktor’s chilling secret–he’s a serial killer who’s never been caught…

WHAT’S ATTRACTIVE ABOUT MY STORY: It is a fast-paced thriller with comps such as Billions, Dexter and You, which are all hit shows. I’m reasonably confident that my show caters to the audiences that watched these shows, while providing its own unique twist.

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>TARGETING:

Producers first – as much as I would love to target managers, I want to learn the process of pitching to producers, so this is my choice. My next target segment would be managers.

What I learned today: marketing pilots is a process with many layers. But what can be controlled is the quality of the marketing/pitch materials. That’s in our hands.

I’m looking forward to this module and going to market.

What I learned today is my most attractive selling points.

    1. Genre: Sci-fi thriller

    Title: Space Blind

Concept: An abused housewife becomes a ruthless warrior to save her children when she wakes up without them in a “hospital” where aliens are consuming humans to survive, finding out later that she too is an alien, she must also defeat the aliens’ Old Regime to save humans from extinction and free her people from oppression.

    2. Unique characters living in a strange new world.

    3. Producers. They make the shows happen.

    4. Answer the question “What I learned today is…?”

I should have started with a pitch first, instead of the writing. This is going to be an arduous process.

    1. Give us your Genre, Title, and Concept.

    Genre: Science Fiction

    Title: None of the Above

Concept: The planet’s fate rests on two childhood friends. From their rise to power to intergalactic wars over the secrets of the Big Bang, any misstep could lead to a doomed timeline. When James Wong becomes None of the Above and runs for president, why does his destiny matter so much and what price will it cost him?

    2. In one or two sentences, tell us what you think is most attractive about your story.

It has high stakes that keep escalating. The Big Bang is intriguing and the None of the Above is an interesting high concept.

    3. Tell us which you will target FIRST — managers, producers, or actor’s production company — and why you picked that target.

Producers because I need someone with a vested interest to get this made. A manager could keep my wheels spinning, and since the main stars are Asian and Hispanic, that cuts out a lot of the biggest actors.
