Karen Christine Angermayer´s Assignment 1
What I learned doing this assignment is:
– It is interesting to see how many “one only” locations come up once you lean into the process.
– Outside locations in nature make your shooting be dependent of the weather conditions.
– A boat sailing on the sea may not be the easiest location (concerning where to put the crew members, cameras and stuff). Though I love the idea of my story playing on a boat 😉
– The “uniqueness” might be the most challenging part.

Karen Christine Angermayer´s ASSIGNMENT PART 2:
First of all I apologize that I´ve chosen a show (instead of a movie) for doing this assignment, because this was the first that came into my mind.
I am in the Binge Worthy Class as well, and therefore have seen more shows than movies recently 😉 Hope this is okay.
What I learned doing this assignment is that is much easier than I thought to transform a normal movie (or in this case show) concept into one that follows the Covid Guidelines. It was fun doing this assignment and seeing how the message and power of the story could easily be produced in this seemingly reduced way. Thank you!
TITLE: Big Little Lies (TV Show)
AS THEY DID IT:
A. People: 5 mothers and their kids, 4 husbands, several teachers, other parents, 2 police officers
B. Stunts: no stunts
C. Extras: exclusive locations (some of them have homes by the Sea), many locations (5 homes, school, theatre, a restaurant by the Sea), crows of parents and teachers at the first school day
D. Wardrobe: normal to elegant
E. Hair and Make Up: negligible
F. Kids and Animals: many kids, no animals
G. Quarantine: I guess 14 days for each crew member before and after
COVID GUIDELINE VERSION:
A. People: concentrate on the 5 moms, regularly meeting at the restaurant by the Sea
B. Stunts: no stunts
C. Extras: no more location than the restaurant by the Sea and perhaps the office of the school principal
D. Wardrobe: provide each actor with outfits that are characteristic for them (Renata: most elegant of all)
E. Hair and Make Up: negligible
F. Kids and Animals: it would be possible to show only 2 kids (the one attacked, and the one who is accused of having her attacked)
G. Quarantine: less crew members, less locations and shooting time, therefore less risks

Rae Rodgers – Containment Class – Assignment 1
What I learned during the process. Having been involved in the full production of a feature film from start to finish I know location scouting, casting, wardrobe and make-up decisions are key to the budget and ultimate success of the production. A single location for the entire film makes a huge difference in the budget. However, the script must be exceptional in order to warrant one location.
Part 1
Ticket To Paradise
A Netflix film starring George Clooney & Julia Roberts. Budget $36M.
How they did it:
Story set in the USA and Bali. Filming started in Bali but due to the strict Covid social measures in Bali the shoot location was changed to the Whitsundays and the Gold Coast, in Queensland Australia. Netflix may have partnered with Screen Australia and Screen Queensland for this production – may have gotten government incentives to do so.
A. People – large cast for the Bali scenes.
B. Stunts – in the ocean.
C. Extras – Bali beach and wedding scenes.
D. Wardrobe – Julia and George in casual dress – not high end.
E. Hair and make-up – Julia and George low key.
F. Kids and animals – none
A. Quarantine – this was shot in Bali and Australia in the height of Covid.
PART 2
A. People – could have been limited with the beach and wedding scenes.
B. Stunts – no stunts – just water activities.
C. Extras – these could have been limited in the beach and wedding scenes.
D. Wardrobe – casual dress for the main actors.
E. Hair and make-up – Julia and George would warrant the best.
F. Kids and animals – limit only in the wedding and beach scenes.
G. Less crew members, less locations. The film was shot between November 2021 and February 2022, in the middle of Covid. The Australian Gov’t had very strict Covid guidelines, so this had to have been difficult, definitely for the film maker’s travel and accommodation plans. There were also strict quarantine rules – remember Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson?
