Tim Barley’s High Speed Writing
What I learned from doing this assignment is that it’s OKAY to write “junk.” You can’t get a polished product if you don’t start somewhere. I did learn to concentrate on finishing up something and not got back and edit as I went. The Teaser took about 40 minutes as I had to stop myself from going backward and not just keep going forward.
(Not sure whether we are to include our writing here; I don’t think the formatting would hold when copy/pasting. If you want to see it before it gets edited in lesson 6, I can share a PDF.)

Elizabeth Dickinson Finished Act 1 First Draft
What I learned doing this assignment is that the teaser is still tricky because it’s the framing for the story. I’m still not sure how much the Oversoul needs to be active in the rest of the story. But I take comfort from one of Hal’s stories about the producer who intro’d ideas in the pilot without being completely sure how they’d pay off later!

Laurie Brown Finished Act 1 First Draft
What I learned from doing this assigment is that I wanted to leave out an important scene to do it later, BUT, I listened to Hal’s suggestion to follow the outline and I went back and put it in.

Avi Kapurala’s Teaser / High Speed Writing
I blocked out my brain and followed the high-speed writing rules. It was quick and the only reason it took me a little time was because I have a lot of scenes.
I must admit, this is a new approach (working in drafts) and it doesn’t come easy, or the positive talk!

Wendy Weising’s Teaser / High Speed Writing
What I learned doing this assignment is that when you have an outline like we have created, high-speed writing is so fun and easy.
I absolutely love high-speed writing, especially when I had such a thought-out outline to use.

Tell us your experience of using the High Speed Writing Rules as you wrote your teaser.
This class inspired me to create a teaser for my second book. I used that verbatim for the teaser for the TV script. Given that I already got two rounds of feedback on it in novel form, The teaser was quick and high quality. It took maybe 90 minutes, including relearning Final Draft, which I haven’t used in 9 years.
Answer the question, “What I learned doing this assignment is…?” and put it at the top of your work.
The marketing advertised when I got this course begins in Lesson 16, but it currently stops at 15. There was a pause after module 4 to prep for the marketing, which is good because I still have work on the bible to finish. (Did I remember that from Audio 20?)
