Tim Barley’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned from doing this assignment is that I have already started creating the marketing campaign!
I’ve selected marketing campaign #1 (Can’t Travel – although I CAN and DO live in LA), with a specific emphasis on strategies 5-9 (building a fan base).
The first action I am taking is to create the social channels around the title (currently not published), and share items that will create buzz and create fans.

4. Answer the question “What I learned doing this assignment is…?” and post it at the top of your work.
There are many different ways to achieve your goals. They all require planning and follow-through. I’m going to play to my strength and build more credibility.
1. Read through the 10 Marketing Campaigns and select ONE that you’ll take action on immediately.
Marketing campaign #7: Building Your Network
I already have some contacts with people that work at entertainment companies, but I need to have a larger body of work to take advantage of them. I also have a fanbase already, but I need to grow it with more content.
2. Taking that campaign, make a plan of action, listing the actions you’ll take.
#1. I’m going to double the quality of my first novel, even though it’s already won an award and been a finalist in multiple contests.
#2. I’ll write the 2nd and 3rd book. Large parts of plotting for both books are done, but it will still take a while to collect my notes and write them.
#3. After three books are ready, a large book marketing campaign.
#4. Build from small fanbase I have to a much larger fanbase with more books. I’ve had a fan buy 5 copies of the book to give as gifts, so I know even the first edition could inspire fans. The 2nd edition is even better.
#5. Volunteer with a producer friend of mine that I’ve already had business dealings with.
#6. Use the success of the book campaign to build credibility when approaching producers.
3. Tell us the first action you are going to take…and take it.
#1. I’m going to double the quality of my first novel. I’m almost 50% done with this first step, and it’s going well.

What I learned doing this assignment is it’s really about taking one step at a time.
Marketing Campaign #7: Building Your Network
1. Continue to connect with other industry professionals on social media.
2. Finish at least three screenplays.
3. Start contacting connections.
