Assignment # 12
David Wickenden Marketing Campaign
What I learned from this assignment? You need a plan with a goal, timelines, and benchmarks. These need to be well fleshed out.
I am considering following Marketing Campaign #1 Can’t Travel but can Market.
I have been slowly getting involved in the local film industry. Northern Ontario has become a popular destination for film makers due to the favorable exchange rate and government support. As such, I have been able to attend local get togethers—Meet and Greets for film makers and conferences. I will continue to do this while I research both local and international producers to approach with my projects.
Once I have a list compiled, I will send out query letters. I will target smaller producers to enter the industry and build on this. In the meantime, I will continue to take courses and write more scripts towards the future.

Deb’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned doing this assignment is that my writing must be great before I launch a marketing campaign.
I chose Marketing Campaign #1 – Can’t travel.
My first action is threefold –
I will continue to elevate my writing by taking courses through ScreenwritingU. I’m working on a rewrite and my next live class is AI for Screenwriters.
I will polish my LinkedIn account.
Finally, I have two scripts that I entered in the current Roadmap Writers contest. If they get a “recommend” I will use this towards my credibility in marketing. If not, I will receive feedback notes that will help me elevate myself as a writer.

Hi Deborah,
Thank you for connecting with me. I am also on LinkedIn and am very interested in AI. Like you, I can’t travel so I am interested in your plans.
Best.

Hi Pam, Thanks! I sent you an email re: your query letter. Unfortunately, I accidentally sent it through my outdated email app (long story) anyway – you will get it – I just think it might take a week or so. Sorry about that. Glad we can Connect – Deb

Tasha’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned doing this assignment is that no Marketing Campaign for my writing will be successful if the quality of my writing isn’t professional and engaging.
1. I’ve selected MARKETING CAMPAIGN #1: Can’t Travel
2. Taking that campaign, make a plan of action, listing the actions you’ll take.
Plan
-Elevate quality of writing to a professional letter by taking the necessary SWU class
-Once I have a draft I think is professional, I’ll get coverage
-Enter contests
-Get recommends
-Grow my network on LinkedIn and target small/indie producers
-Send out Quality Query Letters
3. Tell us the first action you are going to take…and take it.
My first actions are going to be to make sure my writing is at a professional level by taking the SWU classes that will help me build-up the necessary skills and by getting coverage.
Thank you to the participants of the Power Players 19 Forum and to ScreenwritingU. I really enjoyed working with everyone during this course. I learned a lot! Good luck to you all!

Ken’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned is that you need to make a plan, set goals, and stick with them. And, always improve, the writing and the pitching.
I’m going to be working #6 Marketing to Producers, and that starts with targeting the right Producers. Then I’ll be sending Query emails and Pitching over the phone. I’ve already built a small list, and I want to get better on IMDB targeting the best Producers.
And, in the meantime, keep working, and keep writing.
The class was well-done, I learned a lot, and I learned from everyone’s assignments too. Thank you very much.

What I learned doing this assignment was small steps can get you where you want to go.
Lin’s Marketing Campaign
1. The campaign I chose was Marketing Campaign #6: Marketing to Producers
2. Plan of Action
– Having better clarity after taking this class of what was important to the story I will do a rewrite.
– After completing the rewrite I will send it to a coverage service and will repeat this step until I get a “Recommend” or “Consider” from them.
– Once my script is ready for producers I will send out a Query Letter to those that have done something similar in the genre and budget to my script.
3. The first action I will take is to rewrite parts of my screenplay to incorporate new insights I got from this class and my fellow classmates. Thank you all.

Subject: Monica’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned doing this assignment is there are multiple ways to market a script in today’s environment.
1. Read through the 10 Marketing Campaigns and select ONE that you’ll take action on immediately.
#6 – Marketing to Producers
2. Taking that campaign, make a plan of action, listing the actions you’ll take.
a. Update my producer list for action/adventure producers.
b. Make sure my script is in professional shape.
c. Send out my QL Draft #2.
d. Use Virtual Pitch Fest and/or Stage 32 producers.
3. Tell us the first action you are going to take…and take it.
I’ve sent out two Virtual Pitch fest queries – received one script request.

Terrell’s Marketing Campaign
What I learned doing this assignment is how to hit the ground running after gaining all this now information.
Right now – MARKETING*CAMPAIGN*#7:**Building*Your*Network
I’m actually having luck with this on Instagram, though I need to dust off LinkedIn
I like entering contests and after a quart final win, that boosted my confidence, I would like to pad my bio win a couple more bigger placements.
I plan to research the best contests for horror, since I have 3 horror script in the pipe, I believe 3 scripts by first quarter 2024 is doable with AI’s help. I think this kind of speed is where the industry is headed may as well get used to it now. So I can market in a swarm.
Then follow up with
MARKETING*CAMPAIGN*#4:**Promoting*A*Contest*Win
MARKETING*CAMPAIGN*#1:**Can’t*Travel
Maybe MARKETING*CAMPAIGN*#5:**Getting*Recommendations
