    HIRAM: TERRIFYING MONSTER

What I learned doing this assignment: I learned a series of steps to create a monster.

Tell us who your monster is: My monster is a calm, sexy, deep VOICE, that comes in the night, wakes the victim up and tortures them with their fears by getting into their head and they cannot stop the voice in their head. It’s a VOICE ONLY. It has no body, no features to see but it drives them insane because it is relentless, never stops and the only way to stop it is to kill themselves.in a gruesome way.
THEIR TERROR: a constant talking voice that comes into their mind and there is no way to escape it.
THEIR MYSTERY: How do you fight a voice in your head that will not shut up.
THEIR APPEARANCE: You cannot see them, you cannot feel them, they have no body or shape in physical space. They are in your head.
RULES: a. They are always a calm sexy voice with no body.
They always come at night but are not in your dreams, they wake you from sleep and get into your head. Once they are in your head, they never shut up. They never kill you they drive you crazy so you kill yourself. They only way they can be stopped is by the victim’s death.
WHAT BEHAVIOR DOES IT EXHIBIT? Always calm but unrelenting, once it is in your brain it never shuts up
WHAT HORROR DOES IT CREATE? No escape but death.

Tell us what or who your monster is: The monster is a supernatural humanoid-type creature that crosses timelines, but not of its own free will. I’m still figuring this out. Originally, I wanted to have it be a Sasquatch, but I’m afraid that has kind of been done. I still want a humanoid creature, but I’m not quite sure in what form it will take. It can materialize anywhere within the confines of the park where the developer plans to put in his lifestyle community.

Give us a few sentences for each of the following for your monster:

Their Terror: The monster terrorizes those in its space and its family’s space. It is mostly defensive but will become aggressive if it becomes aware that someone is an active threat. There are some supernatural elements of the game reserve that can cause confusion with people – there is some magnetic interference that can influence people’s brains (and communication equipment, but generally only when the monster appears).

Their Mystery: How can the protagonist continue to build his active lifestyle community in the remote game reserve without stepping on this creature’s space? Is there a middle ground to be discovered, or can the monster appear out of nowhere no matter what?

Their Fear Provoking Appearance: The monster can appear from a portal at any time, but the materialization causes the creature pain. It shimmers and screams as it materializes. It doesn’t ask to be brought to the space, it senses a disturbance (the presence of heavy equipment digging into the ground) and is compelled to appear. The creature’s scream is menacing as it is tortured by materialization, and that just feeds its anger.

Their Rules: The monster, if given time to calm after materializing, can be calmed enough to return to its own place and time. If it senses peace in its current environment, it can be convinced not to attack, but to retreat.

Their Mythology: The monster’s ancestors have dwelled – undisturbed – in this game reserve for centuries. There have only been scattered reports of any unexplained violence over that time. The major incidents start when blasting and digging start happening.

Answer the question "What I learned doing this assignment is…” I have a lot more thinking to do about this monster and hope I come up with something a little more compelling, particularly its form.

I found this assignment difficult and I am late in submitting – sorry. I learned alot. Firstly, I had a sort of writer’s block…but then I found that working through the points helped me clarify alot in my head about who and what and why my monster is…1. TERROR
    • How does the monster terrorize?
Elizabeth the witch-mother, takes revenge on her last remaining family members attempting to kill them all. The objective is to isolate the nine-year-old daughter, to change history by taking her back to 1612 .
    • How does the monster pursue?
Elizabeth pursues through witchcraft; sound of ropes, the wind, sound of a noose being tightened, sounds of screaming.
    • How does the monster isolate?
Traps victims when they are alone; in darkness, when they are vulnerable.
    • What is the terrible thing they do?
Kills the victim – but makes them feel it, experience the air being sucked out of them.
    • How does the monster cause death?
Mostly through suffocation, strangulation, sucks the air out of rooms, has people trapped in small spaces, unable to get out, decapitation, buried alive –all simulating her own death by hanging in 1612 –- where her hanging was prolonged by the executioner so she wouldn’t die quickly…she does the same – in different ways.
    • What makes this inescapable?
Elizabeth is a witch. Humans are no match to the supernatural.
    2. MYSTERY
She was a mother who had been hurt/ betrayed by her own daughter: behind the anger is hurt – why did her nine year old daughter denounce her and her family?
    3. FEAR PROVOKING APPEARANCE — The Many Faces of Fear
A noose can be seen or a rope that becomes a noose.
Elizabeth looks like as she did before she died, wearing the clothing of 1612. When her face is revealed, it shows the agony of her final moments – her neck is lacerated
    4. RULES
Elizabeth targets her last remaining family members and family circle to cause suffering, to wipe them out – to isolate the girl and take her back to 1612. She needs to kills Jenny’s mother in order to do this – she does everything to cause her to attempt to kill herself (but the mother is indestructible because she discovers she has witch powers).
    5. MYTHOLOGY
‘The trials of the Pendle witches in 1612 are among the most famous witch trials in English history, and some of the best recorded of the 17th century. The twelve accused lived in the area surrounding Pendle Hill in Lancashire, and were charged with the murders of ten people by the use of witchcraft.’ Wikipedia

    Assignment #2 Crafting your Monster

What did I learn from this assignment…?

This assignment creates boundaries for the monster to work within.

Their Terror: It either kills you or absorbs your body for energy.

Their Mystery: If it is not killed outright, it will evolve to either protect itself or use a similar weapon to attack you.

Their Fear Provoking Appearance: These monsters have been created as biological weapons and have never been seen by anyone before

Their Rules: You’ve invaded their territory, so they will continue to attack while you are seen as a threat. However, you are trapped within the facility.

    Their Mythology: None
